Dr. Cilla has provided superb care for my periodontal condition. That excellence translates to upbeat and cheerful conversation during visits, insightful and perceptive care, and even help with finding a local trustworthy periodontist when I moved 2000 miles from Grand Rapids for a few years. The office staff are professional, competent and very helpful too. As someone who has "enjoyed" periodontal care for over 40 years, I highly recommend West Michigan Periodontics and Dr. Brian Cilla. Another life move has taken me away from Grand Rapids, so this review is to give a hearty "thank you" to Dr. Cilla and his staff for years and years of great service.

I am married to man who doesn't sleep the night before dental work and sweats buckets while he is there and Dr.Kevin has always been compassionate and patient and has actually done some extensive dental work and my husband no longer has the "fear" that he did for years. The…read moreoffice staff and Dr Cilla failed to disclose the biopsy procedure I needed would NOT BE COVERED BY DELTA DENTAL as it is a medical and not a dental procedure. Lesson learned after much hassle and time invested, do your insurance company homework or you could be out hundreds of dollars. I was instructed multiple times by Cilla's office staff that full payment was expected on the day of the biopsy and it was up to me to submit the claim to my insurance provider. They said they couldn't tell me how that was done. They also said they couldn't tell me what would be covered. I contacted my insurance agent. She said this is atypical procedure by a clinic. With the procedure code she learned my payment would NOT NOT BE COVERED Delta Dental although they are in DD network. The claim would have been applied to a $1500 specialist deductible with my Priority Health MEDICAL insurance. Using a medical doctor, an oral surgeon, I now will only have a $45 copay with my Priority Health medical insurance plan instead of paying hundreds of dollars. PH provided me with a list of in network oral surgeons. In addition to failing to disclose DD would not cover the procedure, Cilla's office staff was difficult and rude to me, my agent, and to the oral surgeon's staff when they asked for a referral. I was told by both oral surgeon and Melissa at Dr. Cilla's office that he refused to make the referral. Cilla's staff knew I cancelled my appt to save hundreds of dollars. They hassled me about getting copies of my file and said the oral surgeon's office had all they needed. Yet, Melissa at Cilla's office also told me Cilla had refused to make a referral. How can the oral surgeon have all they need and yet Cilla is refusing to make a referral? They also incorrectly charted that I told the oral surgeon Cilla referred me. I told the oral surgeon PH had them on their list of paneled providers. They were very aware that Cilla did NOT refer me and that my insurance agent had been the one who informed me of the need for an oral surgeon to have the cost covered. Sadly, prior to learning all this I had planned on continuing with Cilla had I required further treatment.

You can tell the staff truly do care about their patient's and making sure their teeth stay healthy and clean! My husband has to get a lot of work done on his teeth, and the staff are always so helpful with all the insurance questions and such... I really do appreciate that! I really appreciate that they are willing to communicate via text and email, as sometimes it's hard to catch people directly on the phone. This is a great dentist's office for anyone, but especially if you live in the East Grand Rapids area! It's so centrally located, and is quite convenient for driving distance and time management purposes.

My whole family has gone to Dr Brian and Kris for years and they have ALWAYS bent over backwards for us. I had a tooth break on me 2 days before our vacation and Dr Brian got me in and got it fixed AND their office called me the next day to follow up and see how I was doing. Kris is always pleasant, happy to see us and the gals behind the front desk brighten the day. Five stars and two thumbs way up. Keep up the good work guys.
