Store credit was not mentioned, just return or exchange within 14 days of purchase. Great, so she bought it. When we came back within the 14 day window, we asked the store rep for a return, with receipt and tag, never worn. She called Anna Marie who asked the rep "what item is it", "how much did she spend?", etc. questions. Why does it matter how expensive the item is before you make a decision? We asked to talk to her on the phone and asked for an exception this one time for a refund and not store credit. She said no, absolute zero flexibility. She asked to send store credit via email, no thanks. We grabbed a shirt and apron, paid extra, and walked out, because we won't be back. I get it's a business, but that's not the best approach. Post signs, be transparent about your policy. Don't tell us it's on the receipt after the item has been purchased. It's not about the $58, it's about the principle and about my mom feeling bad that she didn't know what questions to ask and how. We would have been happy to return if she would have expressed understanding or talked to us in a way that hospitable, as we are locals and frequent this block. We've never had issues with any other stores here. Update: She called to "explain herself" and to tell me that she needed the price and the item details to know what vendor it belonged to. That doesn't change anything about being money oriented.. That was the first thing she's concerned about and didn't care about the circumstances - I heard the phone call. And she still could have done the return regardless of vendor - she didn't deny that. She didn't care earlier we said there is lack of transparency about the store credit, and didn't care about the language barrier. She said she called to "explain herself" about that too since she is a fellow POC herself. Oh, funny how she cares about that now.. We saw her face to face when she came into the store later to do the exchange for my mom. Not a single word then, she only said "sorry you have to return the dress". To add insult to injury.. when I asked over and over why she's calling us, she kept repeating "I'm calling to explain myself." Not apologetic, not admitting any wrong, just concerned about how she's perceived. I'm not changing my review, and we'll take our business to every other store on 1st street.

The owner is friendly and helpful, but gives you space to browse and take your time. I was able to find some great last minute gifts for Mother's Day and graduation from here. I won't be coming back here. I had to quickly by a few gifts for a friends birthday yesterday. My…read morepartner was in a rush to do the same thing. We bought two things that were almost identica, so when I went back in to return it less than 24 hours later they would not refund me my money that they only offered store credit. I was just visiting this area for the week and am too far away to shop here again to just casually chop. So them refunding me was really the only way I'd really be receiving my money Back. At the time of purchase they did not say items could not be returned, and if they were returned they would only be given store credit. This is something most businesses do if they have this policy. They pointed to a small sign on the table. I told them in the future it might be nice to have a bigger sign that isn't so easily over looked or tell customers when they purchase something that any items they purchase can not be returned. they said they don't make exceptions on this rule that they are a small business. I'm tempted to dispute this with my credit card company but am going to cut my loses. I handed the gift card to someone I met on the street a couple blocks down in hopes they can get some use out of it, since I won't be.

I finally got the chance to pop in, and I wasn't disappointed. There were items in a good variety of sizes, the merchandising was great, the pricing was fair with good quality items, and most importantly (in my opinion) it felt good. The store feels peaceful, organized, and relaxed. Browsing was wonderful. This is boutique consignment. If you're interested in ethical fashion, want something a bit different, are frustrated by the low quality clothing churned out these days, want to go green, or just want to save some money, this is a great place to try out! Much of what I saw was unworn or like new. The owner clearly does a great job. My one suggestion would be to separate out the XS sizes from the S sizes. There were tags marking off the various sizes, but it's a bit of work figuring out where XS ends and S begins. I know it sounds ridiculous, but there are plenty of stores these days that don't carry XS, so just seeing the tag would be reassuring that Anchor Chic's got you covered. Probably less feasible would be a petites section, but a girl can dream. I'm so looking forward to going back and bringing some items home!

Look at the photos for the condition of a rug they sold. At the Shoreline store, I purchased a rug that was tightly rolled and sealed with tape, so there was no way to inspect it at the store. When I got it home and opened it, it was in unacceptable condition: heavily stained, paint marks, and a strong cigarette odor. This is not an item that should have been on the sales floor. I brought it back within a week with the tag attached and receipt in hand. The manager Leonora did not start by looking at the condition. Instead, she went straight to finding reasons to deny the return. First saying there was no tag (there was), then saying they don't accept returns on "furniture." At no point did she engage with the actual issue. When I tried to show her why I was returning it, another employee inserted herself and escalated the interaction. I did raise my voice out of frustration (my voice carries) but I made no threats and was trying to explain a legitimate issue. Rather than hearing the concern or working toward a solution, the situation escalated quickly. The manager told me to leave or the police would be called for CRIMINALLY TRESSPASSING, and that is exactly what happened. Police were called over a return. I tried to de-escalate and offered reasonable solutions (exchange or completing my purchase), but the manager declined and stayed focused on denying the return and calling the police to have us removed for CRIMINAL TRESSPASSING! Even the responding officer looked at the rug and attempted to find an amicable resolution. My daughter, who was not involved in the interaction, was also threatened with trespass, which was upsetting and unnecessary. This should have been straightforward customer service: 1. The item was not in acceptable condition and the condition was against their own donation policy. 2. It was packaged in a way that prevented inspection 3. A reasonable review could have resolved it Instead, it escalated into a situation involving publicly funded law enforcement over a defective item. As a nonprofit serving the community, I would expect a greater emphasis on resolving issues directly rather than relying on public resources to shut down a legitimate concern. For a place called Bella's Voice, it was surprising how quickly the conversation was shut down. The executive director has chosen to ignore my formal complaint.
