Great service, awesome atmosphere, and delicious food. We love Spain, and the cuisine is one of the top 3 reasons. One of our servers (owner?) gave us Iberian ham slices, olives, and excellent bread before dinner. The beer and wine hit the spot after our long journey. Scallops for my wife and pork and fries for me. Wonderful! If you walk the Camino and are looking for a delicious restaurant to celebrate, give L 'Incontro a try. You'll love it!

Pestiscos do Cardeal is a tapas restaurant in old town Santiago de Compostella. It conveniently…read moreopens for dinner at 7:00 p.m. rather than the customary 8:00 p.m. Spanish dinner hour. The menu is full of temping items. Be aware that each tapas item portion is sizable enough for sharing. (We had tapas in Barcelona where a selection was an individual serving. Perhaps the Catalonian and Galician ways with tapas differ.) I think three selections here would be sufficient for two people. The menu is in Spanish. One of the waiters could interpret some of the selections, but even a limited ability to read and order in Spanish was a definite plus. We ordered bread (Plato de Pan), Flauta Lomo con Queso, Flauta Bacon-Queso, Tapa de Chorizo Ibérico, Tapa de Jamón Ibérico and Huevos a la Cazuela. This order was delicious! But, it turned out to be a feast and would have been enough for four persons. Still, it was quite reasonably priced at about 33 Euro. The Huevos a la Cazuela was the most interesting. It is what I would describe as a skillet dish or a casserole with a baked egg on top. Very shareable or nearly a meal in itself! The Flauta in Spain is a sandwich made on a thin baguette. (Similar to, but shorter than a Bocadilla.) A Spanish Flauta is a sandwich, not the same as a Flauta in Mexican cuisine. Arriving at 7:00 p.m.there was lots of seating. By the time we left, the restaurant was quite full. Highly recommended, but come early!

The restaurant opens at 7:00 p.m. for dinner, earlier than the customary 8:00 p.m. Spanish dinner hour. Complimentary appetizers of potato chips (crisps) and olives were served, an excellent touch! I ordered a Pizza Arrabbiata, which was a pepperoni pizza. It was 34 cm, just a bit larger than an American 12 inch pizza, but similarly designed as an individual serving for dinner. The pizza was excellent, cooked in the Neapolitan style. A little spicier than similar American pizzas. My wife ordered Ravioli ai Quattro Formaggi (four cheese ravioli) and enjoyed it. Very reasonably priced. Located in the historic district and recommended for lunch or dinner.

We are from California and with some patience from our waiter we ordered peppers, paella and steak. Coke zero and a bottle of Albariño completed our order. Although it took a little while we were served some bread and soon after that our peppers. Big fan of the roasted peppers. Slight bell pepper flavor but not hot. The steak came still sizzling and perfectly cooked medium rare. Lean and very flavorful. As good as every thing was, the highlight for me was the paella. Beautiful. Langostinos sitting on top of a large bowl of rice with chorizo fish chunks peppers onions and probably some other things I missed. Absolutely the best paella I've had. I highly recommend this restaurant.
