Popped into Karoecke yesterday for a few pints after work. It's a pretty cool little pub/dive bar. The music selection was good, but sometimes a bit weird - towards the end they started playing the Indiana Jones soundtrack, 'different'. They sell Augustiner for EUR3 and Franz hefe, but had no crystal in. Bonus points for having free, open wifi! read more

Karo-Ecke - Cafes Near Me - Hamburg, HH

This cafe bar has a really charming outdoor beer garden and is inviting with its sitting swing for two and garden lights strung up around the trees. The service is quick and good and although the menu is in German my waitress speaks perfect english. Has eight pastas on the menu and nothing in this place is over 7 euros... great place to park your bike and have drink and bite to eat with friends. Only moments away from Feldstraße station and sits on the top of a whole glorious street of alternative/punk and quirky shops. Will definately be back next time with someone to push me in the big outdoor swing seat :-) read more

Having been here to eat a couple of times now I reckon it's worth a visit if you're in the area. The outdoor area is pleasant (probably more so in the warmer months) and although the menu isn't large & you can't get the Spanish omelette in winter apparently, what is on there is ample for a snack with drinks or a reasonable breakfast to start the day off. No problems as yet with the service & the smoking lounge looks pretty comfy if that's a passtime you indulge in. read more

I visited this bar during my weekend in Hamburg and I adored it! We spent a whole evening here, and if I lived in Hamburg I would probably come quite often. The bar is quite small inside, but very cozy. We had apple pie (quite boring, I can't recommend that one) and some drinks. Looked like a decent place from the outside. Turned out to be less than decent. Long story short, I found a 20 eurocent coin in my chili con carne. If theres anything disgusting to find in your food, it's coins. Well, maybe a condom or a rubber band would be worse, but really - a coin? I can't even wrap my mind around how it could have ended up there in the kitchen. When I told the waitress about what happened, she did not even give a real apology, but they just offered a new plate of chili con carne. Which I refused. After politely refusing it, they left the plate with chili con carne and the 20 eurocent coin on the table instead of picking it up and taking it out. Definitely not coming back, haha, and I'd recommend everyone to stay away from the place. read more

I went there with my family, all the place were free except only one couple. (30 seats free) I sate with my daughter on a table and we ordered a full meal. (Probably 40€) My wife went on an couch with my 4 month baby while waiting the food. A woman came very upset, ordering us to stay in one place. It was very confusing as no one else were there (rainy day) Relax, I said that she could have my place if she wanted. She told us that she was the owner of the place and we should seat as normal people together and not taking all the place for us. !!??? I was so surprised of her attitude! I said: do you want that people feel confortable? We will have for sure gather together for eating. She was not willing to let it go. We went immediately out. The waiter was apparently not surprised of her attitude.... Fake nice place in a great neighborhood. Pity!!! read more

Possibly I'm just lucky, but I've not experienced any of the bad things people wrote about this place. I've been here 3-4 times and always enjoyed it, especially when sitting outside on a sunny afternoon. It does happen sometimes, that there is just one guy/girl who's supposed to do everything, so you might wait a bit longer than usual, but they've never been rude unfriendly. Besides beers they've got Jever von Fass, Augustiner, Alster Wasser and a couple more I don't recall and drinks they serve food as well, Pasta, Chili con carne, Sandwiches, Würstchen and Salad. So I can definitely recommend it if you happen to be in Karoviertel. read more

For all new-hamburg citizens and other newcomers: please avoid this pub, although it is well placed and has a very nice indoor and outdoor furniture, outworn but sympathetic. But everything else but sympathetic is the service, a look into the kitchen far from convincing, and the toilets, apart from being very narrow are dirty, even though it was afternoon time. Service is the worst I have experienced in the last months (took him 30 min to prepare a sandwich, then I got a turkey one instead of tuna, he noticed and took the right one from another table, and a.o. being very rude. to sum up in Cicero's terms: Ceterum censeo Karoecke esse delendam read more

Want to like this place as it's nice, cosy and local. But the service is rude and slow.
