Great gynecologist!!! Super cool office! Really works with you to get the best care for you. Highly recommend.

She is not very professional using foul language and tried to do a biopsy on my last visit and I almost passed out because it was so painful and she suggested I go into the hospital and go under anesthesia. It was a mess. I basically had a period after menopause . Never happened again . I read a lot about after you go through menopause sometimes you have a last time period , When everything just kind of dries up inside and comes out and never happened again if it did, I would've went back to a different Obgyn, but I just feel like it was a money grab and also the office is very unorganized. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Purcott for over 5 years in my twenties and she's one of the best doctors I've ever had. I'm shocked to see some of these negative reviews because I never experienced anything like that with her. I will agree she can be a frank with her words and isn't afraid of dropping occasional F-bombs or commenting on your tattoos - but she always took time to hear my concerns and she advocated for my health and well-being before I knew how to. The fact that I'm coming back to write this review years after my visit should tell you how disturbed I was/still am with my visit with this doctor. During my first pregnancy, I was having bleeding in the first trimester and as a first time mom was extremely concerned about it. After coming to her office twice to try to find the reason for the bleeding and/or find anything on ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy, I was waiting in the room with the nurse only to hear her loudly bad mouthing me and my concerns to the entire office including the waiting room. She kept loudly screaming, "I don't know what she wants from me- she'll either miscarry or not. Nothing I can do!" The nurse was horrified. When she left the room to explain to to the doctor that I could HEAR her, the doctor came into the room apologizing and embarrassed saying "she thought I was on the phone". So...only cool to badmouth a patient when she can't hear you. During her apology session she offered me something to "help the miscarriage along". Needless to say I walked out and have a healthy 5 year old today. This woman should not be a doctor. Trust the reviews- she has an attitude and no bedside manner. Plenty of other AWESOME obgyns that were happy to confirm my pregnancy and see me through delivery. I'm still traumatized by this experience years later. read more

This doctor preformed my surgery to remove an ovarian cyst and some endometriosis. I was sent to pain management in the hospital rather than the outpatient trip home I was expecting. She never visited me in the hospital after my surgery was over. She sent another doctor to check on me while I was still there two days later. I complained for almost a year of severe pain. Which was addressed with Percocet!! Finally 11 months after my surgery she says "well, I left you kind of a mess in there" Then she referred me to another surgeon, who helped me remove the remainder of the endometriosis and the ovary she said she had removed with the cyst.... but didn't. WHY didn't she tell me I was a "mess" after the surgery instead of allowing me to suffer for 11 months. Please don't let this doctor operate on you. Please. read more

I saw Dr. Purcott for a women's health evaluation, I was looking for a new Gyno since my regular doctor moved away. I saw Kari about three times before I stopped going to her. During the first visit, she did listen to my concerns and said she would look into my previous surgeries and care plans. I felt very happy with her, however the next two times I saw her. She was condescending, non empathetic, and realized she didn't look into my case until she accused me of exaggerating and lying about my conditions. When she looked up my information (it was a lengthy appointment, mostly quiet because she was reading everything). She mentioned I was a lost cause if I didn't want to go on birth-control. She said she couldn't help me if I didn't take her recommended birth control and accused me of being a "pill popper" while looking at my medication list from my primary doctor, that has nothing to do with Gyno. It was medications I have taken since I was 14 years old. That was uncalled for, and not her place to assume anything about me, or snoop into my file that has nothing to do with my women's health. After 5 surgeries, and 15 years on birth-control, I am obviously not a candidate for my issue. She then mentioned getting a DNC or partial hysterectomy, an easy $30,000 surgery for her. I was able to travel and get into my regular doctor, she looked over Dr. Purcott's notes and admitted that her "diagnosis" was incredibly wrong. My doctor was able to adjust my care-plan with out an unnecessary surgery. I don't know if she was having a bad day, but her attitude was unprofessional. I will never go back to her and will not recommend anyone else. read more

I had my first visit with Dr. Kari Lynn, Purcott, and OB/GYN in Carlsbad. I have never been graded by a nicer staff of professionals. The office was lovely and relaxing. They seated me in a room. It was very pleasant with music and all, and it was a short wait for Dr. Purcott. At her very first impression, you can see if she's enthusiastic, and committed to her profession and to the people she helps. She had allocated enough time to resolve my issue, and by the time I left, I felt like she was an old friend. So very easy to talk with about anything, a wonderful, uplifting personality, and also serious about her business. I have been so blessed recently, with my best primary doctor and my best OB/GYN in my entire life. She was also knowledgeable off the top of her head about the issues we discussed, and I am just so happy to have found her. She gets my ultimate extreme highest recommendation! read more

My first visit with Dr Purcott was pleasant enough, but as I reflect I realize it just wasnt the norm. Besides the fact she dropped the F bomb numerous times throughout our visit, and she revealed personal info about a previous patient that just got a diagnosis, she seemed really amped up. Following this visit, I was given a trial prescription with instructions to call if not working. Well I tried RX and tried to contact dr to let her know I prefer the old RX .No return call back...nothing. I called again to let her know the symptoms were unacceptable and I would be going back to my previous RX at this point. No call back....nothing.Fast forward, time for a refill. It took a week for office to correspond with pharmacy only to perscribe the wrong dose . I informed the office on 4 separate occasions the sequence of events that led up to now and the doctor was insistant on the higher dose of medication (which I had never taken before)and did not want. She would not hear me at all and felt like a power struggle. I knew what was best for my body. She is supposed to support me in my quest for health, not control it. I would not put my trust in her or her staff.They give you a warm fuzzy feeling at first, but then its like theyre abducted by aliens after that.When I would call office, I would get a girl that had a high pitch monotone voice that seemed more android like than human. I love Dr. Purcott! She did such an amazing job with my scheduled C-section. Even the anesthesiologist in the OR room was telling her how much he enjoys working with her. She is smart, attentive, and has a great personality. If I ever decide to have more kids I will definitely choose her again. I couldn't have asked for a better OB. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Purcott throughout my pregnancy (first time mom, in month 7 currently) and she's just awesome. We met her under unfortunate circumstances in November 2015 - went for our first OB appointment & found out there was no heartbeat. She told us how sorry she was, gave hugs, and went over all our options. At the hospital prior to my procedure, she held my hand and tried to make me as comfortable as possible in a not-so-fun situation. She updated my husband in a timely manner afterward as well. When we came back with a 2nd pregnancy a few months later, she was so happy to see us again and was even more happy to give us the good news of a strong little heartbeat. Every time we see her she's in a good mood, takes time to answer all our questions, and make sure we feel good about what's happening. I'm so glad we chose her to go through this with, and I can't wait to deliver with her help. We go to the Oceanside office, and although sometimes the staff can be a bit slow with the computers, they're always very friendly and help as best they can, and I've never waited more than 10 minutes past my appointment time. They always get back to you quickly with test results or answers to questions as well. I would definitely recommend Dr. Purcott if you go to this office. read more

I was really disappointed when my gyno retired a couple of years ago. I recently moved and if she was still practicing, I would have driven from Oceanside to Mission Viejo to see her! But since I did move, I looked for someone local to resume my yearly visit for the super fun PAP. I found Dr. Purcott and am so glad I did. She made me feel so comfortable, is funny and smart, and compassionate and empowering. I am actually glad that my old gyno retired because Dr. Purcott is my new favorite and I hope she doesn't retire until I'm 65. Go see her if you need care for your lady bits. (: read more

Dr. Purcott is a true gem. I have seen a handful of doctors regarding a uterine fibroid. She was the first doctor to truly take the time to listen to me regarding my symptoms, what I ultimately want and don't want, and then gave her professional opinion based on my personal situation. She gave me options and fully explained all of them. She was the first doctor to not immediately jump to surgery, but said she would suggest that if she thought necessary at the current moment. I left her office with a two month action plan, and felt that she genuinely cared for my well being. Dr. Purcott has two offices, one in Oceanside and one in Encinitas. read more

My wife and I have only visited Dr. Purcott once so far, but she has an extremely friendly bedside manner and an extremely professional attitude towards everything she did. A quick mind is on her shoulders, and I appreciated that she was able to interact with our situation so comprehensively. Medications and diagnosis in the past were quickly assessed by her, she explained all of the effects of previous medical and environmental situations on pregnancy, and the nurse gave us an extremely informative packet on pregnancy. I think most people can judge what type of office you are working with when introduced to the front desk staff. The front desk employee who answers the phone is horrible, it sounds like she just doesn't want to help. I think in the first minute of the conversation she outlined how she could not help me on three different items. When having a child you want to meet with the Dr. to determine if you are a good fit for each other. We are having a child...we don't want to just settle for a Dr. and there office...this process is more important than finding the right agent for a house...why...because you are delivering my baby! I was unable to schedule an appointment because the front desk clerk put me off so much that I did not want to even book an appointment and have to see her face over the next 9 months. This is as far as I got with the office. Dr. Purcott might be the nicest person in the world and very smart...but when your front office staff is nasty, ignorant, and not customer focused it is not the place for us. Having a child is the greatest event in anyone's life, and the last thing I would want to do is put my trust in an office with administrators who just do not care. Good luck Dr. Purcott...you will need it with a front office staff like that! You might want to send them to customer service training, and compassion in the workplace training so that they understand the importance of serving your customers and how to do that with the greatest empathy due to the nature of there visits. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Purcott throughout my pregnancy. I researched quite a bit before deciding on her as this is my first pregnancy. Dr. Purcott is fantastic! Although I can tell she is very busy, she always listens. Her staff has always called in a timely fashion to review blood results. I will say, I began seeing her in the Oceanside office as it is closer to my home but quickly requested to be moved to the Encinitas office. The front staff in Oceanside is always lost and confused. The Encinitas office is smaller and the staff is kind and competent. The only time I've had delays in this office is when Dr. Purcott is stuck in surgery at the hospital...which is completely acceptable in my opinion. There are a couple other doctors attached to this office as well whom I've resorted to when Dr. Purcott isn't available. One was good, the other couldn't be bothered to spend 2 minutes with me when I really needed help. If you decide on this office, make sure you choose Dr. Purcott. read more
