I would strongly caution anyone considering Dr. Mazerai's office. My experience as her patient has been consistently disappointing and, frankly, dangerous. Lost Medical Records: The office changed filing systems and completely lost my medical history. This means they no longer have a record of my care, including my miscarriage and pre-existing conditions. Inadequate Care: At my annual exam last year, the nurse practitioner (who has since left--like many others at this office) failed to perform a Pap smear despite my history of abnormal, cancerous cells. This is a serious oversight. Unacceptable Scheduling Practices: I proactively scheduled my annual well-woman exam months in advance for October 2025, only to be told today that Dr. Mazerai has decided to schedule a surgery on that date. I was then told the soonest I could be seen would be sometime in 2026. To leave a patient with pre-existing conditions without care for a year and a half is inexcusable. Unprofessional Staff: The person who called to cancel my appointment was rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. The lack of compassion or professionalism only adds insult to injury. Chronic Staffing Issues: The practice no longer has a nurse practitioner on staff, which speaks volumes about their inability to maintain qualified personnel. read more

I was referred to Dr. Mazarei by my primary when we found out we were pregnant. I was experiencing sharp pains on one side, and was quite stressed and frightened since this is my first pregnancy. Scheduling our first appointment was an ordeal as the office is unorganized and non-responsive, and they were condescending instead of caring when I presented my pain and concerns. When I finally got an appointment with Dr. Mazarei she was brisk, talked over me and again did not seem to take any concerns I had seriously. Because of the pain I was concerned about an ectopic pregnancy, though I know they are rare I have a complicated medical history. She told me to get my blood work done twice and if the second numbers weren't double the first it was probably and ectopic or I was having a miscarriage. When the results came back the second time (which I was informed of in my online portal) they had only gone up by 30%. Needless to say I was panicked and distraught. I called the office (during business hours) and it went to a busy signal. I called the office again a little while later and though I explained my concern they said she was busy and would call me back. I waited (distraught) for over an hour and tried again. The receptionist was terse and short with me saying she can't just call people back, she's with patients. The doctor called me back hours later (late afternoon with my initial call being right as they opened) and said oh, no your numbers are fine everything is great they're high enough to where that rule no longer applies. Needless to say I'm going with another OBGYN who has better communication skills and regard for patient concerns. Proceed at your own risk. read more

Literally the WORST experience I've ever had at a doctors office. Please please please find another doctor. I was there to have a minor surgery procedure. The doctor and her staff were rude and had on dirty scrubs. The first thing was they weighed me in a closet that had a microwave and a sink where they were soaking surgical implements in a plastic tub. I'm not a doctor but I'm pretty sure that is NOT the proper way to sanitize and what not. Then I was shown to a dirty room that appeared to be lacking in normal doctor office things like gloves and hand soap. The doctor came in and was rude and uncaring about the situation. She seemed bothered/annoyed that she had an actual patient. I asked her several questions and I literally was never answered. Including a question about me signing a waiver that says I won't sue her if something goes wrong. She would always skirt around the real answer, answering me with a question or a noncommittal sound. I actually asked if she had ever had to use that form before, the one that says I will settle out of court and not sue. Again no answer just a mumble, when I asked her to repeat herself she again mumbled so againi insisted she answer and she said that it was a form they had from a previous doctor, before her time. Here's the problem with that answer, she's the ONLY doctor it is her practice! They left me in the room and said they would be back, while I was waiting I started looking around and noticing things. (See photos I have added to their page) it was exceptionally dirty and the surgical prep tray was filthy. These were things they were going to cut my body with and they were FILTHY. I literally got up, got dressed and told the front office that I was leaving because of the filth in the room. They said "Ok, we will let the doctor know" REALLY!?! you have a patient tell you the room was dirty and you say "ok" I'm gonna guess this isn't the first time this has happened.... On our ride home the doctor called me and asked "What happened, you left" I told her about the dirty room and her response "ok" WHAT!?!?!? Then I went on to tell her that I checked her yelp reviews and that one said she had 5 medical malpractice suits against her. Her response "I don't have Fivvvvvve" SO HOW MANY DO YOU HAVE THEN!?!?!?! I told her I would not be returning and I was going to contact my family doctor to let her know about my experience. It has been some months since I had that terrible visit. I felt it would be unfair to review her when j was so upset. Thing have settled since then and I can wholeheartedly say that my feelings and opinions on this doctor, her staff, her office and the over all experience have not changed. I do not understand how this person am still have a medical license to practice medicine. She needs to be shut down and stripped of her license! read more

Moved to Oceanside last year from Los Angeles and had to get a new OB/GYN. I got pregnant shortly after moving into town (and getting off my birth control). Dr. Mazarei and her staff has been nothing but helpful throughout this whole pregnancy. Almost 38 weeks pregnant and I can't wait for my baby to be out already! I would have to say in my 36 years on this EARTH I have never had such a horrible medical experience as I did at this establishment.....Not only was the office dirty they had me waiting forever to see this Dr. but that's just the start of it.... So many women were in the waiting room it was VERY clear to me that they had overbooked. My Physician referred me to see this particular "Specialist" for a quick and simple procedure that I was expecting to get done that day (That was what my apt was for) Instead, the Dr. finally came in and asked me a couple quick questions that were already on the new patient forms I had JUST filled out. She then said my Dr. was wrong and I didn't need the procedure after all & I should reschedule for 3 months later. I tried to ask questions because I was incredibly confused but I was shut down. Why not just do the procedure now like it was initially planned for? What actually was going on was they most likely overbooked people and didn't have time to do my procedure let's keep it 100% real......Of course I need the surgery or my Primary Physician would not have referred me it's as simple as that! My Primary was adamant I get it done in fact! So after wasting my time and having me wait 45 minutes to end up doing NOTHING they actually had the audacity to charge me $75.00 UMMM $75.00 for what? filling out paper work? It's obvious this establishment is trying to milk people (ROBBERY) I could tell the receptionist even felt bad asking me for the money because she apologized and said she would try and go speak to the Dr for me which I thought was kind...after about 10 minutes she came back to tell me the Dr said she is sending the bill to my insurance and that's that. Honestly this is just wrong and so unethical!!!!!!!!!!! I'm disgusted. I'll pay$ 175 dollars if something was actually done! GO RIGHT AHEAD & take my $75.00 and why don't you use it to clean up your office/practice. Please close the gel lubricants that are sitting on your damp paper towels in the patient rooms. I had a visit with Rahele Mazarei, after a very quick visit under 10 minutes,she told me she would refer me out to a specialist. I have been waiting almost 2 months now for my Referral, the first time she finally sent the authorization was just last week but with no notes, which is very important with a diagnosis. And now the speciality office is letting me know that Dr. Mazarei doesn't have the right codes on there. OMG and while talking to Dr. Mazarei, she didn't seem to really examine me just quick questions and would seriously talk over me. I came here because this doctor is listed on the nexplannon website as a clinician who is trained to implant it. The first thing I noticed was how old fashioned the decor was. Everything seemed old but not in the chic vintage way but the dirty, old, way past due on a pain job kind of way. It made me nervous to get checked out but I knew I was there only for a birth control consultation and wouldn't be undressing so it was ok. I waited in the room about 20 minutes and finally the doctor came in. She apologized for being late saying she was at tri-city doing a surgery. She explained the different options as part of the consultation. So far I would've given the visit 3 stars and since the device is implanted in your arm without any ned to get undressed I figured I would come back. In order to get the device they said that they had to get an auth from my insurance and that they would call me to schedule my next appointment. After a week went by and I didn't hear from them I decided to call the office, I was told they would call me back in 20 minutes with an update. I never got a call back so I called them back the next day and again they didn't have an update nor did they return my call. After about a week of this I gave up and went elsewhere. Exactly 4 weeks later I received a call from them to see if I wanted to come back in, really? You don't go to the doctor unless you need it. i went in oct 16 and then called me back nov 12. Honestly, I had a terrible experience with this doctor. I'm a first time mom to be and had no clue what to expect and what I needed/didn't need to have done. Didn't give me all the proper blood test I needed to have done. My new ob had to send me back. Had me sign for blood tests that I didn't need and she didn't explain to me what any of them were or if they were medically necessary. Tested positive for TB, had to call four times asking for results of my chest X-ray (they stated they had them on hand more than once but she hadn't gotten around to looking at them) finally had to show up there two weeks later to find out. Same with my second trimester blood tests, they never called me back with the results, I had to call two weeks later to find out on my own if everything was normal. Asked her medical opinion on me returning to work and she just kept telling me she couldn't put me on disability, which was not what I was asking at all. Made me feel like her next patients were more important. My new ob gave me an intake form asking if I wanted to be tested for multiple genetic issues I replied no, she stated that I should've been offered those tests in the first place and they were basically irrelevant at this point since I'm already 6 weeks into my second trimester. I've never been so disrespected by a doctor. When I tried to have them send my paperwork to my new ob they stated she was the only one in office, you'd think they would stop taking on new patients if she couldn't keep up with the ones she had... Also refused to fill out my Fmla paperwork when I wasn't comfortable going back to work due to covid and recommend I fill them out on my own! Such a rude woman. I recommend going to a different ob ESPECIALLY if you're a first time mom whose going to all her first appointments alone! read more

I've never experienced such horrible treatment at a doctors office. This doctor is overloaded and doesn't have time for her patients or the knowledge in my opinion. Her staff is rude to say the least and this includes her office manager. They are unorganized and extremely unpleasant. We were recently given some news about our unborn baby from this doctor and instead of explaining to us what was going on she acted as if she didn't have the time or the care, furthermore my husband left 4 messages in regards to this issue asking to speak with the doctor and she never called us back. All we needed was some piece of mind, this is our child we are talking about. You are just a $ sign to these people at this office and you and your babies well being is the last thing on their mind. I am so disappointed in this office. My primary care physician said she was a highly recommended doctor and that I should wait for my appointment to see her. Well I waited 6 weeks for a rushed appointment and no answers. I told the office every time I talked to them that I wasn't sure how far along I am in my pregnancy and that was one of the most important things for me to find out. At every turn they assured me she would do a thorough exam to let me know. She did not. On top of that the tests she wants me to get done can only be done if you are far enough along. How am I supposed to get accurate readings on these tests if we don't know how far along I am. She rushed through my appointment at every turn. I am extremely disappointed in this office. I am only giving her 2 stars because I did get to hear my baby's heartbeat, however only after I told her I couldn't hear it in the one second she found it. Dr. Mazarei is a wonderful doctor who delivered my first daughter. I'm currently going through a surrogacy process and I wanted her to be my OB for this pregnancy however I find it that her staff is very rude and disrespectful. They are quick to get you off the phone and barely even let you complete a sentence before rushing off. I went to see her April 17th to do a complete exam and also obtain a clearance letter to proceed with surrogacy. All testing came back normal but she refused to write me the letter. read more

Excellent service!!! Staff are responsive and helpful. Office is appealing and comfortable . Appts may take a bit but well worth the wait. I had been going to my previous obgyn for over 20 years. The only reason I had to look for someone else was because he passed away. I received several recommendations from other doctors and friends. I don't understand all the negative reviews? I've been seeing Dr M for 7 years, through 2 healthy pregnancies & I have never had an issue with her & would recommend her to anyone. Her demeanor can seem standoffish (my husband said rude) or rushed but she knows her medicine & gets right to the point. I personally like knowledgeable, straight forward doctors. She has a great sense of humor once you get to know her. Like any doctor you need to tell them all the details, they don't read minds. I would go in with a written list of pregnancy questions so I didn't forget when I got there & we could save time. I really like her & will continue seeing her for my annuals. Her office building is older but always clean & they have recently remodeled. Her office staff is always friendly & extremely helpful. Normal wait time is 15-20 minutes. Afternoon appointments have little to no wait time. Once a month ultrasound tech is in her office for ultrasounds, so I wouldn't get an appointment that day unless you need an ultrasound because it gets REALLY crowded & long wait. Urine analysis seems odd like one reviewer wrote (with the paper on top of your urine cup) but her assistants are very organized so nothing gets mixed up. My only advice is maybe she could lessen her patient list but she really cares about her patients so I doubt that will ever happen. She's always followed up with me & been available to answer any mundane question I have had. Something you have to remember is that she is taking care of pregnant women, who can go into labor at any time! I was one of those women twice & yes the office patients will have to wait or reschedule. But I know that her staff is courteous enough to update every patient on her estimated return time. read more

Perhaps my review should be disregarded, as I didn't stay in the office long enough to actually meet the doctor. I left in a hurry for the following reasons: The lobby's wallpaper was peeling and the carpets dusty and stained. Not a huge deal on its own, but as a topper to everything else...The nurse at the front desk was cold. "Fill that out. ok? thanks." No pause for a word in edgewise. That also, not a huge deal. I was called into the back room by a nurse wearing scrubs with something crusted to the front. Not exactly hygienic or attractive for a nurse. I was weighed and taken into a private room and left to fill out some forms. The clip board holding the forms together had an unknown sticky substance on the clip and another mysterious substance crusted to the back. I started to look around in disbelief. The walls of the room were filthy. Stained, dusty, unacceptable. The vent was coated with a thick layer of dust that stood out against the yellow stained walls. The clincher: I turned around to look at the creaky and wobbling examining table I was sitting on (still clothed, thankfully) The dark blue sheets on the table were covered...COVERED in white stains, substances, and markings. At this point, I grabbed my things and walked out the door. Having been to hospitals in developing countries, I was excited to come back to America for some good ol' fashion westernized, sanitized, and professional health care services. its odd to be writing a review about OB/GYN, but I had the best experience that I had to make sure Dr. Mazarei and her staff gets recognized. I got an issue that got out of control (i'll spare you the details). Long story short, I literally called every OB/GYN in my insurance network to get an appointment asap. Most of the reciptionist told me to go to ER (they understood this was serious, but couldnt get me a same day/ next day appt). Then one of the receptionist recommended me to call Dr. Mazarei. YAY! OMG, her staff was amazing!!! The lady that I spoke to knew I was in serious pain, said she will call me right back. Less than an hour later, she called me back saying Dr. M will see me over her lunch break! 3 hours later, i am not 100% good, but feel so much better! Needless to say I was so grateful! I must say, Dr Mazarei is not a typical dr you'd expect. She may come off a bit unusual, but within seconds, you'll realize she is a very sweet and understanding doctor, and most of all, she's know what she's doing without any BULL SHIT sweet talk. haha. When I moved to the San Diego area a year ago I went to Dr. Mazarei to get a perscription birth control pill for my polycystic ovary syndrome. She prescribed me Be-Yaz and assured me that everything I'd heard on the commercials was only of concern if I had any history of high blood pressure in my family. So, I took the pill and was fine for a few months. Then I was hit by the most emotion-churning depression I've ever felt in my life. I was a wreck, and my mother informed me to stop taking the pill and see Dr. Mazarei again. Here's the thing, though, If she had prescribed me the pill, heard of my symptoms, and changed my prescription I would have been fine. However, when I went into her office and told her of my condition she wrote me off, saying something along the lines of, "Well, this pill is supposed to /treat/ depression, but I'll write you a new prescription anyways." Almost as if I were making it up and blaming it on my birth control! Nonetheless, I followed her instructions to keep taking the pill until I could fill out my new prescription. A week later I suffered from a severe panic attack and my mother made me flush the pills down the toilet. After that point I decided to find a new gynecologist, because obviously Dr. Mazarei wasn't taking my claims seriously. My story doesn't end there, though. Later in the year my mother was complaining of abdominal cramps. She suffered from endometriosis when she was younger, but she'd just had her period so she didn't think anything was wrong. She decided to see Dr. Mazarei and state jokingly, "She won't give me birth control so I'll be fine." So she goes to see Dr. Mazarei and the doctor asks her if she's pregnant. My mom says no, because my father has been away for several months and on top of that she has her tubes tied. Dr. Mazarei apparently said that that didn't mean she couldn't get pregnant, and then moved on to ask her if she could be having her period. My mother again said no because she'd just finished. Here is where it gets ridiculous, though. Dr. Mazarei then states that she wants to give my mother birth control. My mother protests, stating not only does she not need it but that she's /allergic/ to birth control. Dr. Mazarei tries to prescribe it to her anyways, and when my mother protests the doctor schedules her for an ultrasound! Later that week my mother discovered it was her period, because she was going through the first symptoms of menopause and had no idea that could happen. Overall, while Dr. Mazarei is nice she has an odd obsession with throwing birth control pills at the problem to make it better. I tried to discuss my condition with her several times and got roundabout answers each time, and never once did I feel as though my questions and concerns were taken with sincerity. Perhaps this is just my experience, but I wouldn't see her if I were you. read more

I was very nervous about seeing the dr after reading all of the horrible reviews. But when I got there honestly it was not bad at all. It is not a hospital it is a small Drs office where she had practiced for many years. It is in a building with other similar offices. The building itself is quite old so don't expect something like a new hospital building. I did not see any filth like the other reviews described at all. I was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and actually pretty accommodating with my schedule. The Dr was very sweet, funny, and answered all of my questions. She also gave me some referrals which is why I visited her on my midwifes request. I will go back if I need anything. read more

I am so fed up with this lady that I installed the yelp app on my phone so I could complain. Too busy to explain anything properly. Office staff most likely overworked and understaffed. Never gives reminder calls, will let you wait for hours in her office when she has other surgical commitments during your time slots. My last review on June 19th the day I got my bloodwork done. As of today I've gotten no results they have no information for me. I've called daily trying to get results or have them call to find out what's going on and still nothing. Just about a month and no blood test results. This is absolutely ridiculous. When I call staff answering the phone is extremely rude. I'm so stressed out about any complications and I get no help from my doctor to ease my mind. I had a horrible experience with this doctor. I needed to have surgery for an ovarian cyst that decided to bleed like crazy and I almost needed a blood transfusion. She was very rude and condescending to me throughout the entire experience and me feel almost as if it was my fault. She did not take her time or show much interest in answering my questions or hearing my concerns pre or post op. Then at my follow up appt with her, of course she didn't have any of the photographs or documents from my laparoscopy. She also didn't remove all of my stitches like she was supposed to. Oh, and nobody ever took down what pharmacy I use and I had to call her and the hospital multiple times back and forth to get it sorted out. She just didn't have the time of day for me. It took me breaking down over the frustration of it all to the nurse on the phone to finally get it straightened out. After it all, she had the gall to try and get me to make her my regular OBGYN. i went to Dr Mazarei for HRT, after recently moving to Oceanside, and not knowing any Dr's i just randomly chose her office. What a mistake, i went for a follow up appt. after getting blood work completed to determine the level of hormones, i needed. i spent an hour waiting to see her , and she was very disorganized and disheveled, she asked me what was the purpose of my appt and was not sure why i had come to her office. i had to bring her up to speed on my medical history, while she searched for my patient profile on her Ipad. she was going to prescribe progesterone, until i reminded her that i had a hysterectomy. She spent all of 10 minutes reviewing my history, and with me . She is a fly by night Dr who does not take the time to get to know her patients, nor does she review your medical history. i will not be going back to her office nor would i recommend anyone to her. what an awful experience read more
