This review is very belated but does not change the fact that Karen Kline is one of the most professional, courteous, helpful, and charming people I have ever dealt with. She has fantastic interpersonal skills and her communication is A+. I live on the mainland but Karen kept me informed and totally up to speed with things as they progressed either by phone or email. She explained things in a clear, concise, and understandable terms and navigated me through the entire process from start to finish. In 2012, Karen Kline assisted me with the purchase of my first home. Of all the businesses I could possibly review for their positive contribution to my life, it's Karen Kline that comes first to mind. She worked really hard to get me a super low interest rate, evening calling me one night to lock in the interest rate when interest rates fell to an all time low. She had her eye on it for me- this literally saves me thousands of dollars over my lifetime and makes monthly and day to day living easier. A very unfortunate thing happened in my life in the middle of the home purchase. My husband at the time had totaled his car and a month later the computer went out on my car. In a two month period while moving toward closing we had to purchase two cars. Karen worked out the math for us and gave us the maximum dollar amount for car payments we could have each month and still get the loan approved. We were first time home buyers- she had incredible patience in explaining everything from paperwork, points, interest, mortgage options, and the titling process that occurs after her work is done. She works with the banks for you, as an advocate on your side of the table, so all questions and requests for documents coming from the lender come through her. I never had to talk to the lender myself or experience any unnecessary scrutiny. I never even had to write a check to Karen- the process of payment gets worked into the figures. Because of Karen, I got a zero down payment rural home USDA loan through Chase in lava zone 3. She even managed to work out my low interest loan through Chase, which is a huge miracle considering my long past debt with them from years back. She gives pointers on how to keep your financial profile looking good through the process. She is calm, attentive, friendly, and hard-working. We are closing on our new home this week and Karen has been so great to work with! From the very start of the process, she has been incredibly responsive and done a great job working with somewhat challenging requirements. 1. We are purchasing a home in lava zone 2 which limits our lender pool - she was incredibly knowledgeable about who we could work with to get the best rates in that area (got a GREAT rate!) 2. My job also limits the potential pool of lenders - as a consultant, I cannot work with any lenders who might even give the appearance of a conflict of interest and Karen gave us multiple great options that I could then vet through my org to ensure no issues 3. We are buying from ~3600 miles away so pretty much everything had to be done virtually so her responsiveness was critical 4. My travel schedule for work limits the time my husband and I are actually in the same place at the same time during the work week so her availability on nights and weekends was also huge! 5. Again, due to travel schedules, we had 1 day, a Sunday, where we could actually sign all of the closing documents. Karen worked with the lender and the title co. to ship them to an alternate location and to "rush" the process of getting the docs shipped to make sure they were ready and waiting on that one day. Plus, she made sure we got electronic copies of all documents in advance so we could review them on the road and get any questions answered/resolved so that, when we were able to sign that Sunday, there were no open items to worry about. 6. Used this company once several years ago and swore not to use again. Slow response, unprofessional, lackadaisical attitude, and lots of "one more thing(s)". The closer to completing the transaction, the more those popped up. Forced to use again recently against our wishes due to selling/buying agent's insistence. Everything was in place for an early closing including funding as well as desire by seller, buyer and agent (somewhat) to close two weeks before originally scheduled closing. All due to the hard work of the agent and seller including moving and rental of storage unit for furnishings and vehicle. Karen Kline insisted on waiting for the scheduled closing against the requests of buyers and sellers with buyers' money in hand, no explanation. Aside from additional unnecessary storage fees, the delay with completion of the transaction was aggravating but Karen Kline refused to budge. Also, when requests were made by buyer and seller to exchange contact info, Karen balked and advised against that for some unknown reason(?). Would not use this company again no matter what advice or wishes of the agent. read more
