DR. Anderson is great, her office staff is NOT. Or, more accurately, her BILLING Department. I was sent a text message telling me I owed $14 on my recent visit. I tried to pay using the link included and I kept getting the message that my account could not be found. I then noticed that the address provided by Dr. Anderson's office was incorrect (which is probably why my account could not be found in the system). I alerted the office staff that there was an issue and all I got back was a short email saying 'we are sorry you are having trouble' and a PDF with the bill attached. No one tried to correct the issue in the computer and thus I ended up mailing in a check (yes, you read that correctly I sent in a check via the US Mail). Since the US Postal service moves incredibly slowly, I spent 2 weeks getting harassed non-stop by emails and text messages asking me to pay online (which was really, really annoying). It's hard to believe such an excellent doctor employs such inept accountants. I won't be going back. It's just not worth the hassle to deal with the inept billing department. read more

My right big toenail was giving me some problems -- needed medical attention. Went to UCSD Urgent Care and they tried to help, but the solution didn't stick. What I needed was a real, live podiatrist -- something that I was surprised to learn, UCSD doesn't have on staff. Checked Yelp and found Dr. Anderson. I'm glad I did. Dr. Anderson is super caring, friendly and welcoming, and she obviously knows a LOT about feet. She took care of my toenail right then and there, and things have been much better ever since. Dr. Anderson gave me my life back. Before I saw her I could not walk more than half a block and was in constant pain. Doctors told me I would be crippled in a few years. The surgery on both feet was very complex to build new arches in my completely flat feet. After Dr. Anderson operated I walked around Italy for a month (and you know Italy is not flat!) I hiked the cloud forest in Costa Rica and the forest of New Zealand. It has been over ten years, I am now 73 and have never had any pain or problems with my feet. Dr. Anderson put me back into action. I came to her for pain I was experiencing in my toes for a week and having trouble just from walking on them. The pain put me out of everyday activities I enjoyed such as running, cycling, and CrossFit. Plus, I had a 5k run with my 10 year old we were looking forward to for the weekend. Making the appointment was easy and I was able to get in to see her when it was convenient for me. X-rays were taken at the initial consult. She listened to my symptoms, performed a few tests on me, and was able to find the problem. She was able localize the nerve to treat and offered realistic treatment solutions. I was blown away at how I hobbled in to my appointment and walked out of her office 70% pain free! Her treatment got me back to my normal self and I was able to run again in a few days! I am so grateful I found her! I followed up to see her 3 weeks after treatment and to customize all my insoles for my shoes. This review is in regards to their customer service over the phone, not the doctor herself. I called to book an appointment but I wanted to make sure that they accepted my insurance. When I called, the woman over the phone told me that they don't have time to check my insurance status because they are down a staff member and irritably suggested that I call the insurance company myself! If you did accept my insurance, you just lost a potential patient/customer due to the staff's poor customer service skills. Customer service is key to providing quality medical care (I should know being in the medical field myself). It is not the job of the patient to see if their insurance is accepted. IT'S THE OFFICE'S JOB. From my experience, the office calls and verifies that you are covered before you come in for your appointment. Not the best approach to growing your practice. There are plenty of other podiatrists to go to in the San Diego area. read more

Dr Anderson delivers top notch care and I am extremely pleased with the quality of care she gave me for my sprained ankle with associated fractures. Her care saved my injury from progressing and from needing surgery. She directed me to all the right equipment I needed for recovery and even directed me to a homeopathic massage gel that reduces inflammation. I've had two ingrown toenails removed by Dr Anderson and she makes the entire process as painless as possible. Ingrown toenails are usually really painful to remove due to the numbing injections but she makes it as painless as possible. I would recommend Dr. Anderson to anyone in need of foot care. Poorly run office + lack of business + people not knowing how to do simple tasks = a lousy practice. Doctor does not have many patients. I've been in a few times and there's been one other patient in besides me . . . out of three visits! That's a sign. I am still waiting for X rays that no one has ever figured out how to send to me or hand to me in the office. I've asked four times and still need to put in another call! They got my bill wrong too, charging me for a copay on a follow-up that was supposed to be part of the initial fee. Doctor has a weird way to measure strength by pushing toward your hands and having you try pushing back. What does this have to do with my feet? I have wrist problems too that could cause my pushing to be weaker on one side or at different times. She made me orthotic inserts that are painful, they're so hard. Don't go here. Find a doctor with a larger clientele who won't try ratcheting up the bill. (And yes, people, how a front office is run reflects poorly on the doctor. She is the one running the ship. It should make patients question her choices.) I'm looking for another doctor in the new year and getting orthotics that won't bruise my arch. read more

After giving my insurance and personal details and getting a prescription for a gout attack, I specifically told her that I was shortly going on a month long vacation to Europe. I left assured that they would take care of contacting my Insurance. I never was contacted by them, so I assumed her service was fully paid for. I have paid all my bills since birth 72 years ago, has not borrowed a cent over the last 35 years, and own my home in full. When I came along she never disclosed that she had been sued and lost . She then rented a facility so she could destroy me . She's a raging narcissist and a liar . I am permanently disabled because of this woman who decided to do an experiment on me after they told her not to do surgeries again. She removed the bone from my third toe she left metal in my big toe she dislocated the second toe and left it that way and then removed all my meth heads which are knuckles in your hand so now I can't stand with balance because I will fall over. I have been seeing Dr. Anderson for approx. 5 years. She diagnosed a pinched deep perineal nerve pinch right away when 5 other doctors over a 5 year span claimed my foot pain was coming from my back, that I has CRPS and that I was basically nuts. A few treatments at the PT and I was good. If anyone is stupid enough to avoid a competent doctor because of a personality conflict with someone at a front desk, that person does not deserve the competency that Dr. Anderson has to offer. Been a patient of Dr. Anderson since 2002 and have been in her office 8-10 times over the years for initial and follow-up visits for various injuries. I was immediately impressed by her high intelligence. But I became a fan when she (unlike most doctors) collaborated with an orthopedist, physical therapist and even a chiropractor to treat my initial injury and go a level deeper to help me understand/treat the underlying cause and prevent recurring and/or additional injuries. I had issues with foot and ankles for many years . After a substantial impact i contnued for two to three months with my day to day activities despite the swelling, nonstop pain, and greenish tint. Seeing as how im an avid believer in "..give it a day or two it will pass.." ...it did not and i was refered to Dr. Karen Anderson. The office was easy to find, clean, uncluttered . Once on the table after some xrays by Dorian , Dr. Anderson without hesitation put my foot in cast and informed me the broken bone, ligament and tendon damage without any comments on my horrendous toenails. Now back on both feet without any residule limp or pain this was one of the best medical experiences ive ever had. I never write reviews on Yelp, but after reading the extremely negative reviews written by one of the people who gave 1 star (multiple times) I decided I would write an unbiased review based on my experience. I am not a friend of Dr. Anderson's, nor was I asked to write a review. I'd been having (bearable, but regular) pain in the ball of my foot, under my big toe (sesamoid bone) for about 3 years. She X-Rayed my foot and found that there was some arthritis and some damage I'd done, but to get a full picture reached out to my insurance so we could get approval for an MRI. I went in yesterday to review the MRI results, and after reading the radiologist's report Dr. Anderson noted that she'd never worked with that particular radiologist and wasn't sold on his findings after looking at the slides. So she is in the process of getting a second opinion from a radiologist she works with regularly to make sure she can make the best possible treatment recommendation. Before I left, she gave me 3 treatments that she felt would be the next steps - 1) to splint my toe on my own and wear more cushioned shoes until our followup in 3 weeks, 2) bone stimulation (insurance covered) and 3) PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections (not covered by insurance). And as a last resort, surgery. I appreciated that she took into account what would affect my pocket, not hers. She is very knowledgeable, and contrary to Cindy's review I have no issue with her bedside manner. She is matter-of-fact, but not insensitive to the patient in any way. Additionally, I decided to look at Vaudwan's other Yelp reviews to see if he's a trustworthy reviewer and he seems to have a 1 star opinion of most places he visits, so I personally feel his reviews should be taken with a grain of salt. I almost gave 4 stars, only because after my initial visit I was told that I'd hear back in a week or so to get an update on whether or not insurance approved an MRI and didn't hear back for a month. I didn't mark 4 stars because I understand that was possibly an issue on my insurance company's end, and not the lack of followup at the doctor's office. read more

My first meeting with Dr. Anderson was three years ago when I had chronic pain throughout the summer in one foot that was limiting my generally active lifestyle. She conducted a few short tests on both feet, quickly diagnosed my problem as a weak ligament in the center of my foot, and instructed me to place a small metatarsal cushion in the center of my shoe. There was instant relief and because I now place this little cushion in my shoes, I've never had pain again. My second meeting was just a few months ago, when I went to see her because I was flying out of the country to a wedding, but had had a very swollen foot for 3 weeks due to stepping off a curb and twisting my foot. I thought I had torn a ligament, but when the swelling didn't go down, I looked to her for advice on how to deal with that. I was shocked when she told me I had a broken bone in my foot, which an xray confirmed. She put me in a boot (cast) that day and strongly urged me to stay off my foot and wear the boot constantly. Two weeks later the break was not healing, and she put the fear in me -- stay off that foot or you're definitely looking at surgery! No wedding! We saw each other several times over the next few weeks (as I diligently stayed off my foot) until an xray finally showed the break had closed and healed. I ENTHUSIASTICALLY recommend Dr. Anderson for many reasons: she is a consummate professional with a wicked sense of humor. She loves her work and is compassionate towards her patients problems. Her staff is wonderful -- efficient, friendly and very competent. I have two friends who independently recommended Dr. Anderson to me -- now I do the recommending! read more

Dr. Anderson and her staff is amazing! I injured my ankle last Monday night playing basketball. On Tuesday I went to her office on Fay Ave to confirm what I thought was a very ankle sprain...it turn's out is had a broken fibula! She immediately supported it with a fiberglass cast and referral me out for surgical consultation. Surgical repair was a couple of days later. If it weren't for the quick professional treatment that I received from Dr. Anderson and her staff I'd probably still limping around causing permanent damage. read more

Dr. Anderson is the most through and conscientious doctor I have seen in a long time. She went over several options with regards to my nerve issue on my left foot. When the non surgical methods did not seem to alleviate the problem then we talked about a couple of options with regards to surgery. What impress me most she was not looking to line her pocket with unnecessary surgery. She went several options that she thought would best provide me the best outcome. I am a very active person. I ride horses, spin, dance and weight train. I stand at work all day mostly in 6 inch heels. So you can imagine the abuse I give my feet! Fortunately I found Dr. Anderson! She has helped me immensely over the years when I've broken toes on the dance floor, gotten hair stuck in the bottom of my foot, (I'm a hairdresser) and most recently, had a stress fracture and is helping it heal with Prolo therapy. I had been to a GP, a podiatrist (who suggested physical therapy for three months) and an orthopedic doctor. Dr. Anderson spent time evaluating my problem and suggested a path towards healing. She found a fractured left heal, plantar fasciitis, a pinched nerve in my foot and three bulging discs in my lower back pinching the sciatic nerve and a swollen Achilles' tendon.
