Little did she know that by dragging me up to sing a Sublime song with her that night, she would be starting off a love affair/obsession that would consume several drink-fueled nights. His selection is vast and organized, which is rare and greatly appreciated but most of all I have to say that I find Bernie to be the *MOST* fair of all KJ's. He doesn't play favorites, he won't be swayed by drunk nor flirt, he is straight and true to the end of the night and in a town, or bar, full of shady folk that is highly admirable IMO. So, this round of "Hopelessly Devoted" is for you Bernie. Five nights a week, you can find Bernie laying down the sweet tunes from Se7as to Tom's to Se7as to Holleman's to Se7as! Of course, my fav spot wit T-Spoon is Se7as!! I've been going to that spot to karaoke with Bernie for about a year now. There's a great group of regulars, who are quite entertaining too. But back to Bernie... Bernie is always fair in the karaoke lineup. If you put in a song, you sing. In that order. Seems simple enough, but there's plenty of other KJs in and around Miami, who don't play by any rules and let their friends and regulars hog the mic. Bernie even keeps an eye on those folks who are trying to sneak in and duet on every person's song - which can actually be pretty hilarious to watch sometimes. So no more excuses Yelpies, even if you can't possible make it out on a school night then you got Friday and Saturday to hit it up. & T-Spoon & I will see yo there!!

David showed up about an hour or so early and was already playing music when the guests arrived at start time. We kicked off the karaoke from the start and David was great at setting the list and pacing out the songs giving us some time to dance a bit and chat in between. They had advertised that pianist Stephen Mars's would be playing that night, so I checked out his music on line and got so excited to see him and hear some of his CD of Beatles music that I went with my girlfriend that night to see him. But I misunderstood the hours he was playing from 2-6 and believed he was playing from 6-9. So when we arrived there we were very disappointed to hear he was finished playing. So after we spoke to him for a little while explaining our disappointment, he went back up on stage and played some Beatles music for us and the other patrons despite his shift having ended. There was a pretty decent crowd and everyone loved it. Stephen is really a wonderful musician and truly an interesting and terrific guy! So I would highly recommend the music in The Backroom Live at the Fish House, particularly when Stephen Marks is performing there. Thanks Harry K.

(That's my badly done Hank Hill impersonation for all of you "King of the Hill" fans.) Sadly, I can't remember the name of the KJ at Little Hoolie's but he's a cool guy that does his best to be fair on really busy nights. My advice, on Sunday nights, get there early. The KJ at Studio at Miami Beach is David and he's a cool cat. He'll sing along with you if you need a duet partner any time! The only downfall here is that there is no live band. They do have some instruments up on stage if you and your friends want to play air-guitar while someone is singing. Regardless of the location, you are always in for a fun night. Even if you don't often get up on stage. (Like me.) It's always entertaining to watch!
