After returning to Texas after 20+ years I finally got to go to a club, and since i only go to…read moredance I chose a night at Club Rumors because an old friend of mine was djing a 80's night. Upon walking inside you at first feel like it might be only a bar, but as you turn to the right you see a dance space big enough for about maybe fourty people. On the other side you see tables with mostly groups of people who already know each other sitting at the 4 person table which some have been pulled together making them longer. Most of these people didnt really start dancing immediately, but when they did, everyone danced. No cover at the door, but we were EARLY :)). From all i can tell this club is what they call tejano,I guess for the live bands which sometimes play there more spanish than english, but i didnt hear to much spanish music the night i went. Looking for a jeans kinda bar with a dancefloor, this is the place to be.

Appreciated an assortment of non alcoholic beer also! Had the tuna which had a Greek/Mediterranean flare with Kalamata olives, peppers, plum tomatoes and feta as well, the grilled shrimp entree. Both served with asparagus and rice. Both fantastic. Would definitely be in trouble 20-25 years ago as I may have just sold grass skirts on the ocean and called it a day. Within walking distance from Surfside jetties and beach. Would not recommend doing one without the other. Two different patio bars. Clean and highly attentive staff. 3 different servers participated in our meal. They know they get it done when they have the confidence to serve your meals with plastic silverware. Keep a fresh catch on the menu as well. Just terrific. WELL DONE!

When the food came out, it was lack luster. The fried pickles were just fried air- not a single pickle in there so i don't really know what was fried. The red fish was bland, the grits lacked flavor, and the salsa on the fish tacos completely overpowered all other flavors in the taco. I don't plan to visit this restaurant again. I offered two stars because our waiter, which was the bartender, was kind and the best part of our experience.

And Sheryl, the owner, is an absolute QUEEN. I've been to plenty of bars and restaurants, and I can genuinely say I've NEVER had the kind of experience anywhere else that I've had here. They don't just make you feel like another customer walking through the door -- they make you feel like you're part of the damn family. The atmosphere, the people, the drinks, the hospitality -- all of it hits. This is the kind of place you come to once and immediately understand why people keep coming back. If you haven't been to Dorado's and The Well yet, you're fucking missing out. 10/10. No notes. Give Jade a raise and somebody get Sheryl a crown.

Went with a group of friends that wanted to do a little country dancing. Kicks is located in…read moreAngleton, TX which is approximately 50 miles south of Houston. You must be 21 years old to enter. There was a wide range of ages on a Friday night when we were there. My group had a range of 49-55 years old and we fit in comfortably. There were a few older but mostly younger than us. However, we did not feel out of place given the age mix. Kicks does have a strict dress code. It seems to be enforced because I did not see anyone dressed in a way that broke the dress code. Make sure you read their website on the dress code. The dress code includes both women and men. It also includes a ban on pocket knives of all kinds. There is live music Thurs-Sun. The sign on the door says the doors open at 8PM and entry is not allowed after 1:30AM. The band that was there when we were there played three sets. During their breaks, the dance floor was still packed while music from current country hits were piped through the speakers. There was a good mix of couples and line dancing. The floor can get really crowded but fun was still had by all. Security seemed to be present and aware at all times. I was pleasantly surprised with the lack of heavy smoke. The smoke seemed to be much heavier in the pool table area but I did not venture to the back to see that area. The dance portion of the club seemed to be relatively smoke-free. I did not see anyone smoking in the dance area. I'm not sure if it isn't allowed or if it was just coincidence on this night. Bottom line: Kicks is a fun place to kick up your heels is you like to country dance. They had a good mix of partner and line dancing. If you like to country dance, you could have a good time here.

I've never had anything quite like it. The restaurant has a cozy, homey atmosphere, and the comfort food really matches the vibe. The only dish that fell a little short for me was the fish and chips. Since it's one of their signature items, I expected more. The batter was a bit too doughy, almost like it was slightly undercooked, and the fish itself was a little dry for my taste. Our waitress was friendly and made us feel right at home.

The menu is quite diverse for a pub: burgers, sandwiches, pasta, wings, shepherds pie, bangers and mash, Scotch eggs, etc. All of it is delicious. I would guess that they typically do, however we visited on a night that had a college football bowl game on. Even as crowded as it was, service was spot on. Can't wait to visit again.
