Many years have passed and yet, this place is still standing. It just goes to show that the comic book following in this country was strong then and still is now. They also have an extensive selection of local and foreign magazines that caters to various fields and special interests. I was able to get my hands on some photography and fashion magazines when I was there even though I wasn't planning in getting any. Aside from selling old and and current issues of magazine titles, they also have toys and cards that collectors and hobbyists would find interesting. I go here occasionally to update my Magic: The Gathering decks and check on new expansion and booster packs available. They also have cards sold by the piece if you're looking for anything specific. Sales people may seem smug at times but they're not that annoying, get past that and they can actually be quite helpful.

We went back to the third level of Glorietta and checked out the store. It was small, but well lit. The staff greeted us immediately and within seconds we found out their names were Jay and Sol. We told them it was our first time to the shop and they said it was obvious as we were oooh-ing and ahhh-ing and drooling over the things we wanted. Mica went crazy over the comics. Remember I said it was a small shop? It is. But they have a good selection of comics. I was interested in this book they had about Marvel and the way they do things. Then I checked the price and knew I wasn't going home with the book that day. "Mica, I need a job," I wailed. "I want this Captain America toy but it's 12K," Mica replied. Jay and Sol assured us that they have sales and everything becomes cheaper for a few days. Well, I can't wait for that day. For now, I'll be checking this shop every time I'm here to see what other new items they have.

Plus, on every first Saturday of May every year, they are among the local comic book shops in Manila that participate in Free Comic Book Day, where anyone can get a free comic book of they choosing, free of charge, no strings attached.

The last time I purchased something from Heroes, it was a limited edition (well at least, here in Manila) Street Fighter Kid Robot blind box collection. To my dismay, I got my third Ken (he's quite a common find), and I told myself that when I would be save up some extra money, I would come back here to try my luck again. When I came back a month later, the blind boxes on display were from a different set, so I wasn't able to try for another Street Fighter figurine. Aside from blind boxes, Heroes has a lot of comic book and movie character figurines, statues and busts that will satisfy any avid collector. These collectibles are a bit out of my budget, but sometimes I walk into the store, just to appreciate the artwork. They also serve food here, but I personally haven't tried any dishes, though having some food as you spend time inside a collectible shop (maybe to play a related board game or two) doesn't sound too bad.

I had dined here once because it was one of the very few places along Bonifacio High Street that actually served affordable meals. While the store does carry plenty of other collectors' items, it's in the Funko Pop line that the store recently made its name. Boasting the widest selection and some of the best prices around, Big Boy's Funko collection often has people flocking to buy their favorite licensed figure, much more so during conventions. The store offers a direct number for any inquires on product availability, which could save customers time in going to any of their main branches. I understand that the box is hard to get in the Philippines but at least show some dignity towards the box and don't sell the items in it individually just to make a quick buck. They stock western comics though and have quite a lot of titles on their shelves. DC, Marvel, Vertigo, Dark Horse... you name it, they probably have it. From the more popular titles to some of the more obscure ones. If you're a collector or just an avid comic book reader, they probably have something you need to put on your shelf. But it isn't just comics. There's a bunch of other things, too. They have My Little Pony vinyl toys and figurines, I've seen a few Avengers and JLA hoodies and shirts... and this is definitely a place you can stock up on Magic cards but the one thing I do have to admit I dream of are their artbooks. Anime artbooks, video game artbooks, those delectable bibles of concept art and behind the scenes sketches... Comic Quest has a pretty sizeable collection of them too. It doesn't matter what you're into. Western comics, anime, video games, cartoons... Comic Quest definitely has something for any shade of fandom. And the staff is pretty knowledgeable too! Comic Alley is pretty much any Filipino anime fan's entry level store. Waaaaaaaaay back in the day, they used to sell posters, wall scrolls and Chinese manga. Nowadays, it's mostly necklaces, plushies and posters and usually of whatever's popular. The more obscure series are rarely represented let alone have anything noteworthy. Yet, I suppose for what it is, you can still find some pretty decent things. Their jackets are nice and they do still have some pretty sturdy bags so I suppose not all is lost. They don't sell manga anymore though. If you're looking, best to head to a bookstore for that. If you want gachapon, jackets and/or bags... you might find something you like here if your fandom happens to be in vogue that season. My one gripe though is the staff. While they're friendly, they can be a little *too* friendly. Sometimes, you just want to browse the shelves by yourself but I can't seem to do that in peace with one of the attendants hounding me every minute asking me what I'm looking for.

What I really like about them are items you can use for cosplay. For instance they have that Akatsuki jacket from the Naruto Shippuden series, which can be a basic piece for the full costume. I love the unique Chikara hats like the Chopper and the Kuma hats. They even have a mushroom one for Mario Brothers. I've been looking for one forever and even had to make my own for my baby when we did a family cosplay of the Mario, Luigi and the toadstool. I also got the Mario and Luigi hats from them. I love that this kind of store exists here given how much Filipinos love anime and cosplay. I think they could push the boundaries even more with complete cosplay costumes and accessories and inclusion of the more obscure anime series.

They definitely have better clothes now than from when I last visited a few years ago at another mall. Artwork is a great artsy place that sells 1. cheap (SUPER YAY), 2. local (support local stores, yes), and 3. unique clothes, hats, beanies, bags, pouches, wallets, shoes, and notebooks. Artwork is all about their prints. The designs here are so funky and hip you will not know which to choose. If you're into art and odd and weird then you will love the stuff at Artwork. I got so giddy entering here and went ahead and bought something (I couldn't resist). The shirts are my favorite because they're super comfortable, and you can pair it with any type of bottom and you won't look plain because the designs are so loud and out there. You are literally wearing/holding/writing on/carrying an artwork and I think that in itself is amazing. The designs are all made by hand either transferred or done directly on the fabric. You can come in here with P1000 and come out with at most 5 shirts (they sell tanks for under P200).
