I appreciate her straightforward attitude and that she cites research when answering my questions. It depends a bit on the hygienist, but so far I've yet to experience any egregiously pushy salespeople for extra treatments. The staff at reception are friendly and don't act offended when you ask to confirm dental benefits and cost, as I've experienced at other practices. The entire practice overall is friendly and energetic, which again is a nice change compared to many other dental offices I've been to. The building is on the institutional-side and a little dated, but it's clean and functional. It's an easy-to-find location that's close to the Friendship Heights metro.

The place is horribly unorganized as it's a trickle down effect from the doctors to the staff. Don't spend your hard earned money here! Read the research and find a doctor with credentials. Ringing ears, dizziness, constant pain in my jaw, neck, and back, day in and day out.I had consulted several doctors, including my dentist, an ENT, and even a chiropractor, but was no closer to finding a solution (only poorer for the effort). Each doctorsaw my problem through his specialized niche and gave me a different diagnosis. Finally, I saw a TMJ specialist in Alexandria who recommended a treatment package with a price tag of several thousand dollars. He wouldn't let me pick and choose the treatment I wanted -- it was a packaged deal. Given the the high cost, I figured I should head over to the other side of town to get a second opinion from Bethesda TMJ. Within minutes, Dr. Singer was able to explain to me in clear terms tht the root cause of my problem was a misalignment of my back teeth. It was such a relief to hear someone explain it to me so convincingly. Six months later, I am 100 percent better and at a fraction of the cost I would have paid for treatment that, I later found out, would have aggravated my TMJ instead of curing it. I am incredibly thankful to Dr. Singer and encourage anyone who is suffering from TMJ to try him before any other specialists in the area. He really takes the time to explain the root cause of your problem so that you understand the nature of your treatment and why it is working. Really takes away a lot of the anxiety that TMJ brings on. And he's honest -- not just out there to make a buck. He's eager to help you find the most cost-effective solution to your problem. The chip on my tooth was fixed quickly, and I was so happy with the results that I scheduled a cleaning as well. The cleaning was by far the gentlest I've ever had. Dr. Hemati was incredibly thorough and did an excellent job, yet I could barely feel a thing. There was no pain during the cleaning and no soreness afterward, something I've never experienced at other dental offices. After seeing Dr Hemati, she diagnosed it just from my descritpion then confirmed it by doing an x-ray and a CT scan. She just pulled it today and did a bone graft with great care and patience, taking 3 hours for the process to make sure everything went well and was painless for me. I will be back in a few months for an implant and then a new tooth. My wife and I have seen Dr Hemati. She explained everything, was very caring, and did a great job. The office staff are all nice and professional as well. Would definitely go back.

Enter Dr. Shukoor--who I now wish I could clone and assign to every medical need I'll ever have. When I arrived, the office was busy, but Dr. Shukoor was smiling, welcoming, and--dare I say--fun. His laid-back, approachable personality immediately put me at ease. Then I found out he was a military dentist, and I knew I was in excellent hands. I've worked alongside military medical professionals for the past eight years, and that kind of training and discipline shows. Unfortunately, my situation required an extraction and bone graft. As someone who is, without question, a full-on dental drama queen, this news was soul-crushing. But somehow, Dr. Shukoor and his staff made the entire experience smooth and shockingly painless. I mean zero pain. Honestly? I've had hygiene appointments that were worse. This was cake. Beyond Dr. Shukoor's skill, his entire team was wonderful, kind, diverse, knowledgeable, and professional.
