As all other reviews stated, Tom is not a very happy individual and his terrible customer service. I remember when they moved to the area a little over 15 years ago. Tom is a person. Gayle and I come to the Lake every summer and stay at the Cabin that my family has owned for over 40 years. We love the relaxation, the walks, the sights, the entertainment, and especially the Art. We have various favourite creative places including Bogenrief Glass in Spencer, Blue Water Studios in Arnold's Park, Art on 16th in Spirit Lake and A Piece of Work just down the street. We continue to be impressed with the quality and value for the money, and each year find yet more treasures to take home (whether we have room or not). However, there are situations when it's better to ship it home rather than schlep it around. Last year, my Son made this funky ceramic piece during a class at Art on 16th, and I had it sent to him in Portland. This year, Gayle and I purchased a Dan Ruf print (with frame), and decided that Kapco would take it home for us better than our suitcase or a carry on. It set us back ~$40, but it was well worth the expense. It arrived today expertly packaged, intact, and ready to be hung. read more

If I could give a negative star here, I would give -50. Tom (surprisingly he said he owned the store), was extremely rude and obnoxious to say the least. I understand people have bad days, I understand people exaggerate, but when I say this was truly an unhappy individual who need never work with the public let alone represent UPS in any way again, that is an understatement of the year. No one of this nature should work with the public. I'll never be back, I highly recommend going elsewhere; anywhere but to this store - I can't stress that enough. This wasn't a bad day, this was a man who should be shut down and retire, you almost have to see it for yourself to believe his behavior, I'm not one to leave negative reviews, but this one is necessary. Our company ships documents around the world. One of our employees visited Mr. Tom Chavez's Kapco location in Spirit Lake Iowa and the owner was less than friendly. He stated he could not accept our company's fed ex account number so we kindly offered to create a shipping label. After he rudely informed us that it would cost us a $1.00 to print the label (which we were more than happy to pay), he rattled off the email address to me over the phone very quickly. I went over the email address with him a couple of times in which he seemed very irritated by. Mr. Tom Chavez's customer service was poor at best. Our company will choose not to use his services in the future. We wish Mr. Chavez much success in his business ventures, and hope this review motivates him to treat customers with respect and kindness going forward. read more

Tried to ship back an amazon return. Was told they couldn't scan the code and was belittled and told I was simply doing the return wrong. I have done enough Amazon returns that I know how they are done. He wouldn't listen to my explanation of needing an Ups store drop off. Even if he couldn't do it, he didn't have to be disrespectful. Drove 30 miles and was given no assistance. Only bad customer service. Would not recommend!! read more
