But here in Spirit Lake (on vacation), this Walmart is a life line for selected groceries, toiletries, and supplies for the Cabin. I think I was here 3 times during our last visit. As I know what I'm looking for while here, it's usually an easy in and out. When I get turned around in part of the store, I've found it pretty easy to find store staff to help me forward. The key purchase this time was a sweatshirt for Gayle. It was a little colder here than what we packed for....and she wore it a lot during our week here.

Friendly smiles upon entry, plenty of carts, bathrooms near entry, clearly marked sections with big blue signs with white lettering. The grocery section has a fresh produce section as large as a regular grocery store and everything I bought was fresh. There is also a large frozen food section with an entire side of an aisle dedicated to ice cream/desserts. Only in the Midwest! The center of the store is dedicated to men's and women's clothes. I found some awesome PJs here as well as intimates for low prices. Walmart does a good job at buying and setting low prices. I found some awesome buys like men's PJ pants, women's undies, and baseball caps all at low prices under 10! The best department/experience was the Electronics. The floor manager came over and talked to me about the TVs I was looking at and helped me by explaining the difference in everyone I was looking at. Each cashier I experienced was super friendly and truly interested in knowing about my shopping experience. A+ to this store! I feel that it must be managed well to have a crew of helpful employees. Bomgaars remains somewhat of a maze in terms of finding things, especially considering that this is the type of "Farm and Home" store that I love spending some serious time wandering around. It took my $5 didn't give me the ticket. I politely asked the self checkout girl for assistance. She went to the customer service area and said that someone would be right out to assist me. After about 10 minutes went by the customer assistance still hadn't arrived although she walked right by me and said she would be there in a second. Anotjer 10-15 minutes went by and nothing and I finally said screw it and left with no resolution to my problem at all. I would not recommend this store at all plus they are out of stock of so much. stuff that it's not even funny .

Anyone who has been in a Walmart knows what to expect as they are pretty similar across America. This one, being in a small town, isn't as packed as others I have seen in larger cities. It's a more casual atmosphere that is relaxing to shop in. Due to it's location off the highway, there isn't much additional shopping nearby but there are a couple good options for dining. Plenty of free parking in front of the building. This is technically a Super Walmart as they sell typical Walmart items such as clothing, groceries and pharmacy. They also sell the typical electronics and outdoor items. When I am in town, I would come here to get my normal household items. Yes, customer service here is spotty as it's a large facility so it's tough to accommodate every customer at one time. Plenty of checkout lines during the day including self-checkout line. At night, the lines are limited. Most self checkout lines are closed at night. This causes a bottle neck especially if there is only 1 check out line to accommodate all the remaining customers. They also do have photo center if you need to get photos processed. Also sells televisions, wearable technology, toys, computers and other outdoor items. They sell anything you can think of.

This store SCREAMS Fort Dodge. It has pretty much everything you would expect from a Target. A decent selection of electronics, the same clothing, household items and toys every other Target has. They have a decent grocery section (not as vast as a Super Target - hence the "Super" moniker). Even found Templeton Rye on our last visit. But again, remember, you can put a Target in Fort Dodge, but you can't take the Fort Dodge out of the Target. Does that make sense? If you can deal with the citizens of the fine city of Fort Dodge, then you will have no problem dealing with this Target. Unless, of course, you want to take advantage of the Starbucks located in the store. We went to this Target on December 23rd. As you can imagine, it was rather busy. After selecting our items, we split up - my girlfriend got in line to purchase our goods, I went to get in line at the Starbucks to get a cup of coffee. In the entire time it took her to wait in line and check out ON DECEMBER 23RD, the good folks at the Starbucks counter had helped exactly ZERO people. ZERO. I repeat, ZER-O. The idiocy that operates this counter is absolutely stunning. And it's not just the holiday rush. I've been the only person in line and waited 5 minutes before. This is one Target that should never have been allowed a Starbucks counter, because they simply do not have the mental capacity to operate it. Other than that, it's a pretty darn good Target.
