However, Koch succeeded in keeping everything I loved about Levitt while creating a gorgeous state-of-the-art facility! Koch Arena is known throughout college basketball as an amazing environment, but until you experience it first hand you have no idea! There is not a bad seat in the house (unlike Allen Fieldhouse) due to the high raking seating arrangement creating a very intimate atmosphere. The staff is amazing, the food vendors are great, and the environment is electric! The shape of the domed ceiling causes all the crowd noise to be funneled down onto the court creating a very tough atmosphere for visiting teams. The power behind that noise is the best attribute to Koch Arena; the fans. WSU fans support their teams passionately and when 10,000+ fans assemble for every men's basketball game it is easy to see why this arena has earned the prestige it has throughout college basketball. I have been privileged to get to attend games at many arenas around the world and the United States. When I go to Creighton games at CentryLink Center in Omaha I've been boo'd, shoved, blocked from going to the bathroom, called names, and had objects thrown at me. That would NEVER happen at Koch. We root for our team, we cheer for the win, but we never make opposing teams and their fans feel unsafe. We're Wichitans...we're friendly. So if you live in Wichita and you haven't been to a game, don't miss out. If you are visiting with your team and playing against the Shockers...come on in! Our only complaint were the $9 beers and no free tap-water, must purchase bottled water for $4. Forced me not to drink which is not a bad a thing. We were needing water since we were in the VIP section standing. We did not bring a purse or have any pockets. Thought we would be able to get free tap water. I do not know if I had beginners luck coming to casino, but this casino left a great impression on me. I like they have all sorts of games ranging from low to high volatile machines and I was able to gain at least 5000 tier points. I had a great first night with three handpays. The next day was not so lucky as I gave them back 2K. The following day I left with another 2 handpays. They do a 5% tax however on jackpots which is a bummer, but I guess most states do. They have a smoking and non-smoking session. Their food court is in the middle of the casino floor, but it might be an issue if they have kids as I am not so sure they can enter the casino to eat there and the main places to eat for dining. The casino is located out of the big city, but just 20 minutes away from Wichita and was able to go to the Tanganyika Park. The other good news is no homeless people come here, but you experience this usually in downtown or in Biloxi. They have plenty of drink stations as I usually get a drink. Handpays do not take a long time as most Boyd casinos and they are usually fast. Usually, I would tip, but Kansas state tax takes 5%. I really love this casino and the selection they have.
