I was very excited to check it out! Walking in, there is a huge atrium with high ceilings. Everything is sparkling and new. There are etchings in the stone around the top of the building - maybe Bible verses? Not sure, but they were cool. Snack bar and ticket office are easily found. There are comfy chairs and couches for relaxing outside the auditorium. There are ample restrooms on both sides so you don't have to wait for forever at intermission too! The auditorium is really nice - big comfy chairs, and you can choose to sit in the bottom part or the top part, which is stadium seating. I chose this - score! The short girl didn't have to be stuck behind someone tall. The seats are super comfy and roomy, not uncomfortable like a lot of auditoriums. The stage is nice and the acoustics are wonderful, which helped the brass band's sound. The snacks in the snack bar were only $1 each! Drinks too! It was a fundraiser, and I was surprised and happy to see it so cheap, as usually snack bars are super expensive. I look forward to seeing another event here!

This campus is also used for little league sports and musicians, and other community features. It sits near I-35 and Santa Fe Drive. The photogenic quality of this campus is truly worth the drive. The buildings are red brick, and very clean. The parking is ample. The dorms are spacious, with bunk beds. Inside the dorm rooms are large shelving areas, a desk, with data outlets, and a closet. The campus itself has free parking. It resembles a community park with openness and structural identity. It's hard to believe that this is a college. Again, I've never attended a class there. When I have friends with me,and we are in the Olathe area, this is one setting I like to show people. Guests are always impressed. One of the buildings has white columns with red brick, and the inside of the building (it might be where the chapel is located) stays sparkling clean. The buildings also have small circuit televisions listing activities throughout the college. It is very impressive to visit this campus. It is well taken care of.

First off, parking is scarce. And spread out. If you include the staff parking lot around the front, then there is sometimes enough parking. There are families that tailgate and use more than one prime spot, which is annoying ... Unless you are one of those late arrivers that can nab the spot when they take down their tent. The stadium itself is very accessible. Wide metal walk ways in the stands and handicap accessible ramps at both end of both the home and visitors sides. The visitors side is quite diminished when compared to the home side. Having raised most of my kids at Shawnee Mission South where the stadium was practically a professional ball field, this feels like a step down. There is only one concession location, and it is at the south end if the home side of the field. This means visitors have to walk all the way around the south end of the field for a snack. I really can't comment on the food, as it depends on what school organization is running it to make money. The viewing is great. The bleachers are set up so that there isn't a bad seat, even for wheel chairs. No straining to see from behind the players. Overall, I like anyplace where I can see my highschool kids play. But having gotten used to the SMS field, I have to rate this one with only three stars.

This school has a real police mindset & treats students who struggle with mental illness or an…read moreabusive home life as criminals. Parents are always believed over children. I grew up being emotionally and physically abused by a narcissist and no one at this school did a damn thing to protect me. I called 911 on my father once and was reprimanded by the school for it. No one asked me why I called 911 (I was terrified for my own safety), they just assumed I was being defiant. I also suffered anxiety attacks periodically and during an attack a student resource officer would escort me to the nurse's office and ask if I was on drugs. This school needs proper training on how to identify narcissistic parents/covertly abusive parents & how to approach mental illness. For this to be effective, however, they're going to have to abandon their police mindset and start trying to help their students instead of automatically assuming they are acting out and need to be punished. Maybe then the suicide rate for BVHS students and alumni would stop skyrocketing.

The different departments put on a science carnival every year and this year I made sure to attend. WOW!!! What an amazing building! This is a fabulous building with all the latest and greatest. The lecture halls are comfy and spacious. There are huge screens for students to view materials. The lecture rooms are big but they didn't feel vacuous. Every discipline was outfitted in the latest and greatest. The physics lab, for instance, had all the right equipment and materials to provide an amazing show for the visitors. There were so many rooms and tons of space. Even the student areas were very accommodating. Places that in other buildings would have been off limits were used for lounging and study areas. There is no way to leave this building without being incredibly impressed. What a fabulous addition to KU!!
