I'm saddened by the poor service offered by a company that likes to tout local business and local support. I have contacted the Kansas Bar Association, who has put me in touch with the Attorney General's Office. I recommend other customers do the same (https://ag.ks.gov/complaint-center/consumer). Below is our story. I'm fortunate that I can not be bluffed by their excuses and non-sense on "technical" issues. As well as having other options for internet.
We have had Kansas Broadband Internet Service since 10/28/2016. We have had issues from the beginning. Slow service or no service. They supposedly upgraded their equipment in the summer of 2017 to accommodate the traffic and customers. We were told this would alleviate the issues we were seeing. We have contacted them 52 times in the last year...and that's only when I began recording the issues and calls. These calls were typically when we had been without internet for more than 2 hours, or an entire day...and most periods went into the weekends, and we have gone over a week without service waiting on their technicians. They only offer support from 9am - 5pm M-F. We pay 99.99/month for service. We chose not to do their monthly protection plan as the technician who installed the equipment said we really wouldn't need it. We had equipment replaced in April 2018, we were told it was damaged by lightning, although this equipment was inside our house, with the entire network of equipment, and nothing else impacted. Again...we have had nothing but outages. It's always their towers, their equipment on the tower, someone flooding the network, or something/someone blocking the signal. July 26, 2018 they finally come out after over a week and 1/2 of either no internet...or maybe a few hours of internet service and say more equipment is damaged (lightning or static) and we have to pay to replace it, even though the technician said the equipment they provide only has a life span of a couple of years. We asked for compensation for my time and not getting the service we've paid for. We were told that we had to pay for the equipment and pay to get out of my contract (or they would turn us into a collection agency), and they weren't responsible for downtime, as that is expected. They tried to charge our credit card for the bills as well as take out the monthly payment for August, on July 26. (the other charges were for the equipment and cancelling the contract).
If we are responsible for paying out the remainder of the contract (August, September, October), as well as paying for replacement equipment that is no longer even in our house, we want them to reimburse for the days we had no service, the time spent on calls etc. read more
