I honestly can't thank NP Peter Yu enough. I am a 20-year-old nursing student, and when I first…read morecame to him, I was pretty skeptical about functional medicine as it is not something we learn about in traditional medicine education. I had been struggling with mold toxicity along with a host of other symptoms and felt truly stuck, but he completely changed that for me. From the very beginning, he listened so well and really took the time to hear my whole story. Prior, I had seen my PCP, an allergist, and had countless visits to urgent care where they all could not find a cause for what I was experiencing, recommending I address "anxiety." On the other hand, NP Yu explained everything in a way I could actually understand, breaking down everything and helping me see the bigger picture of what was going on in my body. He identified the right testing, uncovered clear biological markers, and built a comprehensive plan to address the root issues. For the first time, I felt like I wasn't just being treated for symptoms, I was actually being cared for as a whole person. Because of his guidance, I've experienced dramatic improvements that I never thought were possible, and also genuinely learned so much. What really sets him apart is not just his knowledge, but the way he genuinely cares. I left every appointment feeling heard, understood, hopeful, and supported. If you're on the fence about functional medicine like I once was, I can honestly say NP Yu is the person who can help open that door for you. He's made such a difference in my life, and I'm truly grateful.

I told the social worker and doctor the truth and all it got me is a diagnosis that will not do me nor my daughter any good in the future. Can someone please get us release? This is a waste of government and workers time and money. They held my daughter down and sedated her for no reason. We are trying to look for our family for months and still haven't found them. My other daughter, Kimberly Ann Mathis aka Grey, aka Hudson Mathis has been missing for months. Tiffany and I are trying really hard to find her but we are now stuck in this facility. They do not have respect for veterans or as a parent. I just wanted to talk to my daughter to calm her down but they wouldn't let me sayjng I'm a patient here. I do not care, Tiffany is my daughter and I have a right to see how she is doing without you nurses holding her down and medicated her to the point where she is sleeping for hours on end. How much of that sedated meds was she given? Can someone please release her and myself. They are separating us this morning so I would or could not know where she will be. Please help release my daughter, she is a National Guard on ground surveillance soldier. She can not be placed in a mental hold one ward. She has to look for her sister and her dad for us to fly home. She is probably considered Missing In Action by now due to this. Please release us and let my daughter and I continue to find our family. I do not recommend this place if you get an M1 Hold.

The hospital itself is nice--just be prepared, it stays chilly all day. But I will say, once enough patients comment about the cold, the heat definitely kicks in! Lol. Checking in can be confusing. Even if you check in downstairs in either building, you still have to check in again at your respected clinic. Honestly, that feels like a waste of patients' time, especially when you already arrive 30-45 minutes early. It's not nice to the elderly either as it causes confusion. My appointments have gone well, though. Waiting between appointments isn't the most enjoyable unless you're patient or good at passing the time. All of the providers I've seen have listened and been very respectful. Dr. Downey in Pulmonary and Dr. Wienberger in Cardiology are excellent doctors. I didn't get to meet Dr. Balkissoon, who was my originally assigned pulmonary doctor--sigh. I've known Dr. Downey for over 15 years; he's a great doctor, and he rarely accepts out-of-state cases which was a treat to work with him again. Now that there are two buildings, it would really help patients if the schedule clearly listed either the "Smith Building" or the "Main Adult Clinic Building." They can abbreviate the buildings if possible on the schedule. Some of my appointments and procedures have been moved up, while others remained at the same time, but overall my experience--15 years later--has continued to be positive and meaningful. Best wishes to everyone who comes to this wonderful research hospital. I hope you receive the answers and understanding you need for a better quality of life. Happy Yelping!

I've been going back and forth with them for the last year showing that the EoB shows insurance has been paid out. My physicals/ wellness visits are to be covered at 100%. and it says so on my insurance card. They attempted to charge me $95 at the visit, but after I protested and explained to them that I have a ppo plan that is in network with bcbs and they still charged me $25 copay. I gave them $25 that they refused to reimburse. Secondly, during the visit I asked to have my script refilled and they said it was a "formality" to get drug tested because it is a controlled substance anxiety med and they need to make sure I'm not drug seeking. I took the test because I felt obligated to prove that I would pass, as well as get my script, but I felt so embarrassed and low. I've never had any other doctor do this, especially because I infrequently take this med. Fast forward nearly a year later, and I get a notification from an out of network testing facility for said drug test... the doctor sent the drug test to an out of network diagnostics facility and now I owe $441. Lastly, the facility is not maintained and dirty. The equipment they use is really out-dated. It looks like a shady walk-in clinic.

She hadn't vomited at all until we arrived, but once we got into the waiting room she threw up everywhere. Not a single staff member got up to help. I had to get up myself, ask for assistance, and ask for something to clean it up. Someone eventually came with a towel, wiped the floor, and walked away. Did not sanitize the floors chair. We waited about 30 minutes before being taken to a room. They gave her Tylenol and ran a COVID/RSV test. While she continued vomiting in the room, we were told we needed to go back out to the waiting room because they "needed the room." I questioned how it could be safe or ethical to send a vomiting child back into a crowded waiting area, exposing her and everyone else to more germs. Their response made it clear they didn't care. At that point, I decided it was better to take her home than force her to sit in a waiting room covered in vomit. As we were leaving, we saw a grown man vomiting all over the waiting room floor with no help, no vomit bag, nothing. That's the environment they expected my four‑year‑old to sit in. The lack of compassion, hygiene, and basic standard of care was shocking. The whole experience felt chaotic and dismissive--more like being told to "pull forward and wait" at a fast‑food drive‑thru than an emergency room where sick children and adults are supposed to receive care. I left extremely disappointed and concerned about the quality of care here.

She even met me on a Saturday (not office hours) to give my girl the last of her three-day antibiotic shots for an ugly ear infection. Personally, she diagnosed and has helped treat issues I've had for years -- that a counselor, midwife, dermatologist, and naturopath didn't catch. While it is a younger and smaller practice, I'm definitely willing to overlook a less-than-friendly receptionist who answered the phone a few times or confusion with paperwork. The care and professionalism we've received when it really counts is invaluable to me. Update (Feb 2018): she no longer has a frazzled receptionist. Leslie is always kind, warm, and welcoming! :)
