Back in the recent past when I still had just about enough hair to justify actually going to a barber's I always used to go to Kamuren's in St Nick's market. The two main reasons are service and price.
Firstly, a haircut here only costs £7, which is pretty reasonable. Plus Kamuren is a really nice guy, he's always welcoming and remembers you, and has even said hello when I've seen him out and about. It's also a lively place, with a lot of his Turkish mates popping in for a drink and a chat (though they still keep working as they do this).
One warning, it can get busy as it is popular, though it never seems to be more than a 20 minute wait. Also, even when I had hair, I didn't have much hair, so I never wanted anything particularly elaborate doing. Therefore, if you're the type who normally goes to Toni and Guy, I'm not sure whether or not they are capable of that sheer level of ponciness (they may well be, I just couldn't vouch for it). read more
