Two weeks into a six week rehabilitation the owner Eric walks up and tells me they no longer take my insurance and I would have now to pay out of pocket to continue my rehab. He says he lost money on every patient with that insurance. So after failed negotiations with the provider he decided to cancel the contract. While I understand business decisions this was not something that just cropped up. If he was not previously having success with them why take on new patients. Once they did take on a new patient shouldn't they have the professional courtesy to finish the rehab. You just don't dump a patient in the the middle of something as serious as this. But apparently the commitment to his patient was not that important to him.

At the time, I had my reservations about going, based on other people's opinions on the matter of physical therapy. I met with Lovell and two interns. My knee jerk reaction was to resist the interns, knowing that they would be assigned to me and they lacked what Lovell had in knowledge and experience. I simply did not trust them. Surprisingly, I felt an immediate comfort and after the fact, realized that was an absolutely, ideal, office visit. I left knowing that I could trust the treatment I received and the instructions that I was given. To watch Lovell thoroughly model a patient visit while educationally engaging the interns at a level of professional and ideal 'bed side manner,' was the defining moment I realized that I was in very good hands. What started out as skepticism, turned into someone actually helping me to relieve the pain I had been in for months in less than a week's time. My results came quickly, but what I learned was to keep at the exercises daily because it will show positive results. I was fortunate that I strengthened my ankle in less than a week. Over the past year I had gotten lax about regularly doing stretches and exercises, so the pain returned and was being stubborn despite stretching/exercising. So I needed to fine-tune my exercise routine. I reached out to Fitness Quest via their website to set up a consultation, but never got a response. I called the phone number for the Punta Gorda clinic and was informed that I'd first need to have my physician fax them a prescription for PT. I did so, and informed Fitness Quest (again via their website). Again no response, so I called the Punta Gorda clinic and asked if they'd received my fax. It turns out they did, but since I wasn't in their system they had discarded it. Fortunately it was still in their trash can, so they retrieved it and got me into their system and set up an appointment. The next day I had a very informative and productive consultation with Jason. I'd give them 5 stars if not for the initial communication difficulties, which might reflect some kind of disconnect between the "central office" and the various local clinics.

After two previous knee surgeries, one major back surgery and various broken bones. I've been through my share of Physical Therapy facilities. Fitness Quest is far from one of the largest but what they lack in size, is made up with a very caring and knowledgeable staff. Everyone I dealt with were true professionals and a pleasure to work with. Hopefully I'll never need to go through post op physical therapy again, but if I do Fitness Quest of Englewood will be my "go to" place.
