Kalpana is amazing! I was burned by my old eyebrow place and reverted to doing my own brows for 3 years. I prefer threading because I feel it lasts longer and waxing causes my sensitive skin to become tender and break out. Not to mention the sanitation risk that comes with waxing. Kalpana is one of the most kindhearted and professional threaders I have met. She takes into consideration your eyebrow shape/face shape and asks about your eyebrow goals prior to threading. I love that she is honest but doesn't enforce her opinions pertaining to eyebrow shape/look. The atmosphere of her spa is very calming. The decor and music is very serene and her presence is welcoming. Before going to her, my eyebrows had been over plucked and very thin. I had called and she was able to get me in within the hour. Cash only, so make sure to come prepared. Everything was sanitary and clean, and we both were masked-up. So you can imagine how it felt when I left L.A. for the Bay. Unfortunately I had to try several shops, but thank goodness I found Kalpana! I've been going to her for a couple of years now and she is absolutely amazing. She used to be at iBar in Emeryville and I always made sure she was there. Unfortunately I went one day when Kaplana wasn't around and the threader messed up my brow's shape. As you can imagine, I was so upset, but Kaplana made sure to get it back to its original shape. Kalpana's skills are amazing. My eyebrows hair is very fine and as I've gotten older, they've thinned out. I like my eyebrows high arch, somehow Kalpana threaded them to look very healthy, defined, cleaned and full, not sure how she does it. The first time to find her location was tricky but don't give up, I walked around in circles til I found her location because she is amazing. History with her: I used to go to her in the Oakland area, when she moved I lost hope and indeed had not found anyone else to thread them the way she does. I used to do my own eyebrows because I have had everything happen to them from being completely pulled off to being done way, way too thin. I, by a chance, sat in Kalpana's chair at the salon she used to work at in Emeryville about a year and a half ago and have been going to her ever since. I had never done threading before and told Kalpana that. She was very gentle and made the experience enjoyable. Kalpana is a great listener. Whether I want thick, full brows or thinner, sharp ones Kalpana listens and just knows how to shape the brow on my face to give me the look I am searching for. She is very sweet, sharp and her work is impeccable! Her salon is warm and inviting and the prices are fair ( way better than the overpriced ones at the salon in Emeryville ). She nursed my brows back from damaged, uneven and lifeless to simply amazing. My brows are full, even and are perfectly framed and shaped thanks to Kalpana. I live out in Oakland and rent a zipcar once a month to see Kalpana. I've taken friends and family ( my mom who lives in southern cali has made Kalpana's salon a must visit on her visits ) to visit this woman.
