Shelby Ann cut my hair for the first time on Saturday, and she was thoughtful, careful, creative and fun to work with. I was happy with my cut when I left, but we all know you look fabulous the minute you get out of the chair, so the real test is how it looks when you get home and try to recreate the style. That's where this haircut shines. I communicated up front that I'm not someone who wants to spend a lot of time on my hair, and she delivered a shoulder length cut that looks great air dried. I hate doing this because I really liked Sydney as a person and her story of overcoming. Dennis also seemed kind. But Sydney completely messed up my hair. She did balayage incredibly chunky and super poorly to lighten my dark hair. Told me the Aveda salon in Nashville had given me bands in my hair. But my hair cut was truly awful. The tinting of my eyebrows terrible. I didn't want to be a Karen, so I went back two days later to show the layering around my face was incredibly choppy. She cut so much back that I got scared and asked her to call Dennis over. He explained that they weren't taking off length (I had a wedding ceremony coming up) and calmed me down. But even when I left, there were randomly long hairs below the cut line. Because I had already gone back, I didn't want to cause issues. I'd just get her to fix it next time. Well, did more balayage on my hair, which had turned incredibly brassy while also being chunky. Got her to trim the bits of hair that were still too long. But decided not to do my cut there again. I wanted to support her. But my hair cut was driving me nuts. I didn't know quite what was going on. Until two days ago. I went to another Aveda salon and discovered the reason my cut felt off is because it was essentially a bob over long hair. (I'd asked for a little layering at the bottom and framing of my face which I thought was pretty simple). And the way she'd "framed" my face was to take huge chunks out on the side (why I'd gotten emotional and called Dennis over), so it essentially looked like a mullet had grown out. I had to cut off inches of my hair and took the stylist over an hour dry cutting it fix it. I am so livid. First, at Dennis and Sydney, because they gaslit me. I spent $600 for my hair to be messed up. (I now have to fix the coloring she did to my hair, too). I trusted that since she told me she'd been at the salon for 3 years and had some of her work featured in Vogue that I'd get quality work. They also told me the formulas used at my Aveda salon in Nashville were really abnormal. Essentially, making me believe my hair was incredibly messed up from my old salon, assuring me they could help me and then completely messing up my hair. That is absolutely messed up. Secondly, I'm upset with myself. I was so concerned about not being a Karen that I didn't trust my gut. And have been walking around for 2 months with an essentially grown out mullet/bob thing and brassy, incredibly chunky balayage. When I say I gave them a chance, I mean I even went back to them to fix these issues. And I was going to have Sydney do an easy styling for my wedding. But realizing how much I'd been gaslit, and how much money I'd spent on something that should be fairly simple makes me livid. I even had to wait two days to write this review to calm down. So, trust your gut. And do know, even though you'd be paying Aveda prices, you may get better quality at Sports Clips. But mostly, being gaslit by people you're paying to help you and who you trust to do quality work, is truly sickening. I wouldn't return on that alone. So, worst salon experience? I'm still relatively new to east TN and have tried a couple of different salons since I've been here. The most recent one I visited last weekend did a pretty good job with my color, but I was not very pleased with my cut when I left. Once I got home, I realized my cut was a big mess. So I found Kaleidoscope Salon online and called to see if they could squeeze me in to try to fix my haircut. I was offered a Friday afternoon appointment with Brooke. The salon is still following COVID protocol, including masks, which is fine with me. So prior to going in, you're asked to complete a quick questionnaire. When I arrived, I was greeted and asked to wait in a charming sitting area. Shortly after my scheduled appointment time, Brooke came and greeted me, listened to my hair history and took me to her station. She spent some time really looking at the cut and shared what she thought we should do, then she went to work. Fast forward to an hour later...I could not be happier with my new haircut! I really think it sometimes takes a few tries to find a stylist you are able to sync up with, and now that I've experienced Brooke's work, I think I've found my stylist. I can't wait to go back in a few weeks and let her work some color magic on me too! read more

Brooke is amazing. She's the owner so I'm thinking she may be just a cut above the rest, but honestly her staff of stylists are also fabulous. She knows exactly what I want and I never have to explain to her my needs, because she's that good! Although if you do need it to be explained, she takes the time to sit, listen and give you exactly what you want. My schedule is crazy and so today I had literally just two hours to get my hair done. That's a tight schedule! But Brooke and her staff made sure to take the necessary steps to get me in, paid prior to checking out and out of there in 2 hours flat. The staff is awesome! From the moment I made the first phone call, I have received nothing but kind customer service to superb hospitality and well deserved hair experience's for my daughter and myself. I was not suppose to have got my hair cut today being that it was suppose to came the next day, but they decided to take me in anyway. I am super happy and will be coming to my next future appointment's. Jeremy, Shelby and Stephanie were really awesome people. After living in Chattanooga for only a month it was time for a cut and color. I asked acquaintances and Facebook friends for recommendations and read lots of Yelp reviews. I was put off by the fact that most salons here seemed to want to nickel and dime you by charging you separately for every individual service. I mean, are there really women who go To an upscale salon for a haircut but don't want their hair washed and styled as part of the deal? To me, a haircut includes washing and styling it and you should not be charged separately for those parts of the service. So, after much research, I landed on Kaleidoscope, which as it turns out is pretty close to me. I made an appointment with Laura for a cut and color thinking I had plenty of time to fit it in. However, my color was going to be a bit complicated and because it was going to take an hour longer than the time I had available, Laura graciously rescheduled the color but went ahead and cut my hair. She was a delight to work with and had great tips for improving the health of my hair. Love the cut and can't wait to return next week for color! read more

The salon is in a great North Shore location and is clean which is great. The waiting area could be improved but that isn't why I gave it one star. I went to the salon on a referral from a friend who had recently chopped her long hair into a pixie cut. I figured if she trusted them to chop off her beautiful locks I could go as well! I definitely think they cater to short hair though. I said I wanted long layers, didn't like my hair thinned and a trim. They cut off inches, thinned my hair to the point my thick hair was hard to put up and gave me layers starting above my chin! Basically everything I said I did not want he did. Frustrating, had to wait and grow it all back out and get it fixed else where. If you have long hair, go some place else! read more

Let me start by saying, I've generally had good experiences at this salon. However, yesterday I got a haircut and was pleased, until I returned home and realized that there was an inch difference on the two sides of my hair. In response, the salon told me I could choose to get a free recut, or receive a refund and be banned forever from the salon. While I would love to ban customers from the restaurant I work in if they asked for a refund when I get their order wrong, I'm sure we would lose most of our customer base. All this to say, I think this is an absolutely wild way to shirk responsibility. I love the woman who cuts my hair, and I don't blame her at all. Everyone makes mistakes! But to ban customers from an establishment in return for a refund, is extreme to say the least-- especially when the salon is at fault. However, it is sort of exciting to be banned from somewhere for the first time in my life... makes me feel... rebellious? read more

I am new to the area and have been looking for an Aveda salon and new hair dresser. I saw this salon while walking around Manufacturers Rd. and decided to give it a try. The salon is clean, modern and stylish and offers and uses all agenda products.I did not request a hair stylist so when I made an appt they set me up with Stephanie Brown. I scheduled a moisture botanical treatment with hair cut (prices are normal for Aveda, and I always believe you get what you pay for). Stephanie was super great. I was apprehensive about trying someone new and not cheery (since it was an early appointment, and I'm not a morning person), but Stephanie was very friendly and cheerful and she has a lot of experience in her field. She told me she was new to the area but had been with aveda salons for a longtime. She listened to all my concerns and delivered exactly what I wanted. She tried new products on my hair and even showed me a new way to style my hair. Overall, everyone in the salon was very friendly and professional but I highly recommend Stephanie Brown and will definitely go to see her again. read more

I went here after a recommendation from a friend after dealing with problem after problem at other salons getting my dark hair to accept blond without looking splotchy. Mindy was able to correct my color problems and gave me a great cut. A week later my hair is still in better shape than it's been in quite some time. Kudos for a great job!
