I've been experiencing a loss of feeling in my foot for about eight months now, along with persistent pain between my toes for nearly the same amount of time. As someone who enjoys staying active through walking and stretching, I was filled with fear when I first began losing sensation in the heel of my foot. I wondered--Is this what life has in store for me at 50? Am I supposed to just accept the loss of feeling in my foot, with the possibility that it could eventually spread to the entire foot--or worse, other areas? Thankfully, I didn't have to accept that. Dr. Young has been adjusting both my back and foot, which consistently brought temporary relief from the painful snapping I experienced between my toes when I first started walking. However, the pain would typically return within two days. I also tried other treatments, such as athletic taping and Alpha Lipoic Acid. The supplement seemed to slow the progression--when I stopped taking it, numbness began creeping into my other foot. I also saw a pediatrist and he offered me a shot for the sensation between my toes and nothing for the numbness happening in my foot. Prior to this appointment (about two weeks ago), both doctors had collaborated on a treatment plan tailored to my symptoms--and it paid off! Last week, I came into the office in severe pain--9 out of 10 in both my foot and back. I thank the good Lord that I was already scheduled to see Dr. Young and begin Sanexas therapy with Dr. Atwell-I was ready to keep exploring and try any therapy. After Dr. Young's adjustment and my first Sanexas treatment with Dr. Atwell, I walked out of the office with my pain level reduced from a 10 to a 2! A few days later, I began to feel something unusual: cool sensations in my heel. After some research, I discovered that this sensation is actually a positive sign--an indicator that nerve healing may be underway. I continued red light therapy at home and resumed taking Alpha Lipoic Acid. Then last night--just one week after my treatment--I was shocked to discover that I had regained feeling in my foot! Even better, the painful snapping between my toes had not returned. I am beyond grateful. I was 1/2 way though a week vacation when I threw my back out of wack pretty badly. I could not tie my shoes or stand up without bad pain. I called around trying to find a chiropractor service that could see me quickly. One of them recommended Kalaheo Wellness Center. They booked me in right away and the process to see a new patient was very easy (not normally the case for chiropractors) with Dr Banks who did a good adjustment and offered to see me again the same day if needed at no extra cost. Vertigo affects me severely!!! Decided to try a chiropractor as neck/spine sets it off. Zach (Dr. Zachary Young) came highly recommended. Got in that next day! And WOW! They are equip w many treatments and with professionals that administer those options. My second visit, I was on their neuropathy machine. Bed ridden and wheelchair for 3-yrs, this was the first I'd heard of treatments to help feet and ankle nerves. I was now diagnosed w migraines. I had no clue vertigo and migraines were related. I am learning so much in just 2 visits. (My regular Dr. backed up the migraine diagnosis the next day & ordered an MRI.) An MRI don't get me out of pain today, these visits do! And I've had an MRI a few years back. "I am staying on this new program." (My Dr. also said Dr. Zach is the one to choose.) I am curious to try the acupuncture for the neck-pain & neuropathy. Eternally grateful to Dr. Young for his thorough adjustment! I've had intense neck pain for the better part of 2 months and Dr. Young just adjusted me and I feel about 80% better immediately! He was gentle and sensitive and talked through what he was doing and feeling. If you are a visitor to Kauai, go somewhere else. I certainly understand that schedules get behind and a patient may have to wait. What I didn't appreciate was the fact that once the chiropractor fell behind, he took others, who had appointments after me, ahead of me. The receptionist denied that they were prioritizing their regulars, but I know without question that when she was discussing the waiting patients, I was identified as a "visitor." I also know that the patients taken ahead of me actually had later appointments than I did because I heard them say when their appointment was. So, if you are a local, you will be prioritized. I had an acupuncture​ with KT Mellon this afternoon. I've had years of acupuncture but today's session was an experience of skillful grace. KT treated my degenerating hip with her expertise and then, she laid Chinese bowls on my body and let the healing, penetrating layers of sound sooth deep inside my bones. It was extraordinary, beautiful, soothing, healing and utterly delicious. What a​ healing artist KT is with her gentle touch, expert needle placement, knowledge, intention, focus, ​and skill. I made 3 more appointments right away. I could not lift my leg prior to coming in for the 90 min treatment and when I left, I felt like dancing, marching and running. The results were wonderful! Dr. Zachary Young is one of the best chiropractors I've visited, anywhere. He's sensitive, experienced and knowledgeable in all areas of spinal health. And, his prices are very reasonable. I don't go to chiropractors very often. But if I tweak my back, Dr. Zach fixes me up like new. His main office is in Kalaheo, but he's in Kapa'a Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings. read more

I've been seeing Dr Kalani @ Kalaheo Wellness Center for a year now, and I'm so glad I made the drive from Wailua for my first visit. I could barely walk with painful back aches, and after my 1st visit I was walking out of the office telling myself" why did you take so long "? Since my initial visit I go once a month to keep my body in check. For years I've had trouble finding the right pillow to sleep with and Dr Kalani gave me some tips on what to use.
