I had a really bad experience here. My landlord booked me a room for 3 nights because my house needed pest control. I have stayed in many hotels, they all always have a Tv in the bedroom. This hotel doesn't have it. I decided to move tables and Tv to the bedroom. I could use the Tv to connect with my Mac mini. It's my sleeping habit, I need to watch something to fall asleep. First night I went back to sleep at home. The pest control came the second day, so I slept at the hotel. I did not sleep well because the internet was so slow and the curtain was too bright. They didn't have blacklight curtains. This point I don't blame the hotel. It's just my habit. Then I went to work 10am to 9pm. I was supposed to check out the day after, but I asked my landlord to go back after I finished work, if the pest control finished their job. I got in the hotel around 9pm, and tried to move my stuff to my car quietly. The room is not good for keeping sound. I'm sure that the room next door can hear it even if I talk normally. I moved the TV back, but forgot to move all the tables. I was exhausted after working for 10 hours and didn't sleep well the night before. I tried to move things and get back as fast as possible. Then the day after, the manager called me. The first thing she mentioned, it was like you know we are really upset that you moved the tables and didn't move it back. Why did you move it? Why did you move and didn't move it back. You know the housekeepers here get paid really cheap and they're really upset about that. She talked for about 1 minutes and I heard the words upset , upset why why why repeatedly. Then she said she needs to charge me 30$ because I didn't move the furniture back. I said sorry at first and I said she can charge me for that. I'm totally ok with the charge. It's the first time in my life with this kind of hotel. I didn't know that it was serious to move the tables. But I feel really bad about how she talked to me. She did not even ask me how was your stay? Was everything ok? It would be nice if she just greeted me with that like how was your stay? I'm sorry but I need to charge you $30 because you moved the tables in your room. Something like this would be much nicer. I really feel bad about it. Not again with this hotel in my life, and my word of mouth will be all the negative thing.

Mom and dad have had a timeshare here for years, dad passed 5 months ago and since Mom had had a reservation since last year, she took me instead. It's been such a special time honoring my dad who absolutely loved sitting on the lanai, drinking his macadamia nut coffee, reading books and going snorkeling. They always get the same room 2314 - third floor up on the very left of the main building. I've attached a video. The most amazing view ever and SO relaxing. For the first 2 1/2 days mom and I just read book after book. We sat on the lanai and just relaxed from the crazy past five months. It was perfect. For the first two dinners here we ate at the food trucks that the resort now has booked in the evenings. One was pizza (Pizza Poundahz) and the other Mexican food (Baja Chalupas). The pizza truck was really, really good and the girl running it was super sweet. The Mexican food was just so so and the guy running it didn't have 1 ounce of personality and definitely not customer friendly (aargh). But I love that the resort has this option so we didn't have to go out, just grabbed our dinner and took it back to our room. Perfect! Beyond all that I would definitely come back here, although I myself don't buy into timeshares. The place is top notch, super clean and well stocked. The Wi-Fi was easy to connect to. They supply enough coffee filters for a week, and one days worth of coffee grounds. Thank you! Being an end unit, we not only have open windows in the front and back but on the side as well, which is so nice. There's no air-conditioning here which I really think they should have even if it's one unit per room, but yes, the tradewinds are nice, but it's still Hawaii-humid, and sometimes kind of uncomfortable. Mom said they've updated a few things in the room like the couch and comfy chairs, etc. This unit has two bedrooms, the second being two twin beds. In my opinion, they should have a king size bed in each room so you can bring another couple. Kids always love sleeping together anyway if you bring a family so having two twin beds is a little weird to me. Overall, we've been super happy. This location is amazing having a top-notch snorkel spot right across the road. There are so many great shops and restaurants in Poipu. You need to go nowhere else!

There is a workout room on the rooftop as well as miniature golf and pickleball courts (modified tennis courts). There are bbq's throughout the various buildings. The kitchens have just about anything you'd need for cooking. There are a couple of different swimming pools. The beach is right across the street and the snorkeling is amazing. You can walk to Spouting Horn. You can walk to the shopping centers and restaurants. You can rent bikes. There are various food trucks on the property on different days. There is a farmers market on Friday (if I remember correctly). The fruits and vegetables are so fresh and fairly priced. DO NOT BUY fruit/vegetables from the street vendors. Complete rip-off. They have different activities daily for people that like to keep busy. The price could not be any more affordable. What we pay to stay there for a week is less than 3 nights at the big brand hotels in the area. You can buy in fairly inexpensively if a prior owner wants out or defaults. We have been staying here for a few years now. You need to take the Rum tour that's about 30 minutes away. Good times!

The street is not busy so it's really easy to cross. The food is pretty good and the drinks are great! The Luau was easy to watch from a distance if you don't have time or the money to pay to watch the show. The sunsets are spectacular! The resort is close to the little shopping village as well. The one bedroom with kitchen is small but not a space issue at all. The balcony makes up for the small inside space, it's large for a one bedroom and I am so thankful there are 4 chairs and two tables on the patio! The pool is very nice! The activities are fun! The toilet and shower are in one room and then a double sink outside that and across from the weirdly laid out kitchen which is basically all along one wall. There is no dining table, just two barstools at the counter and seating for four around a low coffee table. There is not enough storage space at all.... Two small drawers in a wardrobe unit in the bedroom. There is no way you could store clothes for four people in the place. The studio is really cramped, with even less space in the "kitchen" - there's no way I could stay in that space. The pool by the ocean, on the hotel side is too small given the number of rooms and people. The pool by the villas is a much better size but there is no food service over there. The grilling area needs to be cleaned everyday and it is not. The tables are disgustingly dirty.

We were there in high season, so I suppose the rates reflected that, but $500 a night for a place with a very moldy shower curtain and a shower head that looked like it hadn't been cleaned or replaced since it served as a plantation home is steep. The other interior details are to be expected of a property of this age, but some small and inexpensive upgrades would go a long way. The beach is not good for swimming but is lovely to walk on in the evenings. There's an on-site restaurant (frozen pizza, BBQ) that is extremely mediocre but you can easily walk to an area within 10 minutes that has more food options. 5/5 for property and staff 3/5 for everything else

The unit is a bit old so we had a couple of glitches but nothing major. 1 clogged sink, phone line problem. Maintenance took care of the problems quickly and efficiently. There was a conflict regarding billing though. They tried to add some fees that we did not agree to so we had to press the issue in order to refuse the additional charges. This resulted in mdowngrading of my Yelp rating but the actual experience staying here has been quite satisfactory. Possibly not realizing some of us are/were Kauai residents gave the company the mistaken impression we would accept additional fees without questioning them. Sorry, bad move on their part. I like the plantation so I don't want to be negative about my experience but the billing issue was not something I could overlook without mentioning it. Tourists booking here might just overlook this or not even notice this but I would be remiss not to make Yelpers aware of something they are likely to encounter. Before completing booking, I would enquirer if ALL CHARGES have been included in the quote and there will be NO SURPRISES when you arrive and pay for the balance of your bill. I find this practice distasteful whether it is a resort or Ticketmaster trying to make an extra profit from customers with deceptive pricing. Everyone here at resort has been fantastic. It's their corporate that I take exception with. Waimea Plantation itself is a solid 4 star rating.

Then we got to the "private" dinner which we paid $3k for...showed up and it was just the table with an ocean view with some curtains against the wall. We asked them to close said curtains, they told us that would disrupt the other guests....when we paid for private room....we had to throw a fit and pull up email exchanges to get them to close the curtains.
