So happy with my progress, and how well I feel after each workout. I'm staring to see the real me again! Thank you Kai!

I started seeing Kai about six months ago when my body was so out of shape after having two back to back kids.

They have all the equipment you could need to work every part of the body. The trainers genuinely care and personalize the program to your needs. Plenty of parking. Lockers are available with a code. It's a get-in, workout, get-out gym. There are no people, just hugging machines or standing around. Everyone is usually doing something, and so it motivates me to keep working out. It's never so busy that it gets uncomfortable. I have seen people of all ages, body types, and abilities here. It is a good mix of healthy people. Cons: No showers yet (they are expanding to include showers and a sauna soon) Only two restrooms. (I have never had to wait to use one, but you never know). Overall, this gym is pretty well organized. They offer plenty of trainers of all genders. I believe they also do rehab and physical therapy. There also is someone that comes to do massages. Everyone I have seen here is pretty friendly and polite. I have been training with Laura, and in the past three weeks, she took me from 0 pull-ups to 20 chin-ups, 1:20 plank to 3:30, and 15 push-ups to 42 in 2mins, and my strength overall has increased. I totally recommend you check it out.

Onyx Athletica is hands down the best private gym in Orange County! Very CLEAN & professional! All…read moreof the trainers are so friendly & really care about their clients! It's SUPER aesthetically pleasing, with all black EVERYTHING & custom made machines! All of the trainers wipe down their machines after they use them (AMAZING!) . That is hard to come by, at gyms! The trainers are also so sweet & make you feel so welcomed! There's a water fountain & a vending machine with energy drinks, protein drinks & protein snacks, just Incase you forget yours. Love this because I'm always rushing out of the door! It also never gets super busy, like a commercial gym. So if you have gym anxiety, this is a great place to train! Love this gym if I could give it 100 stars, I would !

We arrived about 10 mins before class begun to check in and we were told we were on "stand-by". Interesting since we booked the class 2 days ago and it didn't mention anything about a waitlist. We also mentioned it was our first time and instead of walking us through what to expect, we were brushed off and told to wait as she helped person after person get checked in. We saw another first-timer be told a run-down of what to expect so it was disappointing to know we weren't given the same treatment... I couldn't believe the amount of people just waiting around. Not kidding - must be around 40+ people. We heard the class enter the room and start their warm-up as we're still waiting around the front. No one else was around. Another employee went in to check what spaces were open- shouldn't their system be able to tell them that? We are so confused at this point... Finally we're told we can go in and are only told where to find the weights. We jump into the first half of the floor series, not warmed up or stretched. The workout itself is very tough, especially the running. I felt light-headed after my first run which was a little concerning. The instructor, Mackenzie, mentioned a list of first timers by name but mine and my friends were conveniently left out- not that I care but how could that be??? It was very tough to maneuver around the space as the benches, people, weights and water bottles were always in the way. Putting weights away was more like a crowded tip-toe...be careful not to trip or run into someone in a dark red lit room. After the workout, there was a line of people just to get out the door and we stayed to cool down. Most people left before the cool down. There were tons of people around the lockers and slowly moving around the lobby. So claustrophobic! I couldn't wait to leave. In the silence outside, my hearing was left muffled by the extremely loud music I endured the past hour. TLDR; felt unwelcomed, my friend and I didn't have a spot in class despite booking 2 days in advance, held hostage at the front lobby and did not have a chance to warm up, loud music, extremelyyyyy crowded. This was not for me.

I told the employee that it was our first class and she said she knew, yet she did not give us any info about the class or equipment like she did for the people we were behind in line. We showed up 10 minutes early just to wait to be let in until 5-10 minutes AFTER the class had already started! No one gave us a rundown of what to expect or how to work the equipment. Pretty unprofessional. It was very hard to jump in as everyone was already working out and we had to maneuver in the very dark, crowded room. The workout benches and treadmills are extremely close together and they overfill the class to the point where it's difficult just to put your weights away. It's clear that they pack the class in as full as they possibly can just to make more money off each class. I've tried numerous other work out classes in OC, and this was the most packed I had ever seen a class. There was a line just to get out the door! Very uncomfortable and way too crammed. During the class, our instructor, Mackenzie, congratulated all of the first-timers and named a list of people, but somehow our names were missing from the list... very bizarre! Also, how come all the other first-timers were able to go in before the workout began, and me and my friend had to wait until 5 or 10 minutes after it had already started?? On top of all of that, the music was WAY TOO LOUD. You could barely hear what the instructor was saying at times. My ears were ringing after class. Barry's gave me Cycle Bar vibes which I did not like. After this odd and unpleasant experience, we will not be returning.
