Honestly, the poor 1 star reviews here are shocking to read because our experience couldn't be…read moreanything further from this and I would give a 10 star rating if I was able. It's not everyday you find out that your mom is having heart failure, come in feeling devastated/hopeless, but these people did their absolute best to take care of us with compassion, integrity, and go above and beyond to address our needs. This entire process was almost 2-3 months long, my mom had a complex 15 hour surgery, and yet made a recovery in less than 2 weeks, and was discharged today and is now soundly back at home, and it's all because of the incredible team here. There's a lot of people to name from their amazing staff but here's some specific people that left an incredible impression on us I'd love to give credit to: Station 45: Sydney the nurse was extremely warm, compassionate, and took such great care of my mom during the initial stages of her being admitted in January while they were diagnosing her condition. Critical Care Unit: Joe, Cassie, Cesar who treated my mom with the utmost respect, patience, dignity, and care given her post op condition. No matter how much assistance was needed by my mom, big or small, they attended to her swiftly in all manners, continually provided me reassurance, and thoughtfully answered any and all questions and concerns. Extra special shout out to Felicia Sanders and Haig who went above and beyond to provide my mom with the utmost comfort, you both were angels. Step down unit, floor 2, of West Tower: Shannon, Letty Martinez, Jazzmin, Elena, Becky, Gloria, Robert, Rhonald, Carlos, Art, Brenton, and Jed. Wow this team was also incredible. They continually checked on my mom as well through the day and night, encouraged her walking and movement, breathing treatment, independence, and literally guided her every step of the way in that journey. Extra special shout out to: Hailey Milsark, Mary Cavena, Emily, and Yolanda. I visited her everyday, and never once had to leave with any doubt or worry in my heart and soul, knowing she was in exceptional hands. Cardiothoracic surgery team: Dr Lim, Dr Bob, Dr Andy Chang, Elysa Guran, Melissa, Sunita Boparai, and of course, Dr Armin Kiankhooy and Dr Grace Huang who performed miraculous work in a lengthy, complex, and demanding procedure(s). There isn't enough words to describe our awe at the superhuman job you did to put my mom on the path of recovery and healing given her initial diagnosis. We feel extremely blessed and count our lucky stars that the universe gave us the good fortune to have been put under your guidance and care. Sorry to anyone I may have accidentally missed, but we truly love and appreciate you all. We recognize how difficult your work and job is, and just how demanding it is, and yet you all were continually at it, day and night, with the highest positive attitudes and energy and it made all the difference for us in our healing. You are all the real heroes and we hope you get all the credit and respect you deserve, because this was one of the hardest things we had to go through in this journey of life, and you all made it as pleasant and smooth of an experience as could be. In our experience, we were treated with love, care, dignity, and gentleness, and made to feel like we were a part of their family/friends. I'm no medical expert, but I believe the high level of care we received here is why my mom is making such an exceptional recovery. You all have helped give her a new lease on life. We are truly grateful beyond the words I was able to write here.

One year ago today I had one of the worst medical experiences of my life at Huntington Health…read more I went to the ER with severe stomach pain. A CT scan was performed, but the radiologist apparently misread the results. My appendix had already ruptured and I had an appendicular abscess forming around what remained of it. Because of this error, I was left without surgery for an additional night while in excruciating pain. Surgery did not occur until the following evening. When I was taken into the surgical room, there was blood on the ceiling, which was shocking and unsettling to see before a procedure. After surgery, I was placed in the maternity ward being used as overflow because there were no available rooms. The room felt like a closet. The TV did not work, and the monitoring system initially didn't work either--they had to go find another one. I was given a PureWick catheter device to urinate with, and it was never changed during my stay. I later developed a severe urinary tract infection. A nurse in my family told me these devices are supposed to be replaced multiple times a day. One night after surgery around 3 AM, I woke up in excruciating pain and repeatedly pressed the nurse call button, but the remote didn't work. I could hear nurses laughing nearby but no one responded until I gathered enough strength to yell out. Only then did staff come in. I also remember a night when blood was drawn and the nurse smelled strongly of alcohol, which was extremely concerning. Overall, the experience was chaotic, painful, and deeply unsettling. Between the diagnostic error, the lack of responsiveness, and poor post-operative care, I would strongly caution anyone to think twice before going to this ER if other options are available.

A pharmacist came out and said they closed at 8 pm. Before leaving work, I checked the hours in three places online, including Google and Kaiser's own website in two different spots. All said 9 pm. It takes minutes to update hours online so you are not wasting people's time and money. That is basic integrity. There were two people inside waiting and she said they were urgent care patients, so they stay open until 9 pm for urgent care. Given that they had not updated their hours, you would think they could take two minutes to grab my prescription. I had received the text that it was ready and had just driven an hour to pick it up. Integrity feels rare these days. There are things I like about Kaiser and things that are ludicrous. Pros: everything is in one building. Referrals are easier than they used to be. Many appointments can be done online, which is a huge timesaver. The mental health practitioners I have interacted with have been kind and caring. Things that need improvement: I was on a waitlist for over a year to get a therapist. Now that I have one, appointments are still hard to get because there are very few available. My doctor recently had me do labs to change medication. I checked the results myself and saw I have hypothyroidism. No one called me to explain this. I only realized it because I looked up what the labs meant. When I read the symptom list and saw I have nearly all of them, I was shocked I had never been tested before. Ladies, get your hormones checked. Women's health care is still lacking. Which brings me to my IUD insertion. It was so agonizing I almost passed out, so they sent me home with medication to dilate before trying again. What they did not tell me is that the dilation medication caused worse pain than when I had kidney stones. Kaiser does not provide localized pain relief for IUD insertions, and I had already taken the maximum dose of ibuprofen. The first attempt was 40 minutes of agony. The second attempt involved 4 hours of severe dilation pain followed by another 35 minutes of insertion. That does not include the long wait times. They need better training or actual pain management for women. Lastly, I needed an EKG before starting a new medication. When I called, there were no appointments available for weeks, but my doctor needed it within a week. She told me to go to the Pasadena nurse clinic as a walk in and gave me the hours. I booked the far out appointment just in case and went as a walk in. The receptionist said they could not fit me in because they were full and only open two more hours. I asked when to come back and returned at the time he suggested. He then said the nurse who does EKGs would be leaving in an hour and could not see me. This was the second time I had followed their instructions and been turned away. I had rented a car just to get there. He sent me to Glendale. I drove 45 minutes in rush hour and arrived just before closing. The nurse there told me Pasadena should not have sent me away and that they are supposed to take walk ins but keep sending patients to Glendale. They were incredibly kind and saw me even though they were close to closing. I know Kaiser employees likely work in a tough, fast paced system. But with the massive amounts of money insurance companies make, you would think there would be more efficient care, accessible mental health services, better women's health care, updated hours, and policies that are actually honored. Too often patients are treated like cattle, rushed through to get to the next. Wouldn't it be nice if health care actually cared? A gal can dream...

( I think the TB skin tests ?) so.. maybe that's why Mondays are extra crowded, so if anything I'd recommend coming in the morning on Tuesday or Wednesday if you want to try and avoid crowds. There's parking in the back, but it was full when I got there.. because basically half of the parking spots are reserved for the employees and officers.. but there is street parking. When I got there the street was also full so I settled for having to walk.. Online, they have a price list that is "updated" for the vaccination prices.. however I paid $2 less than the listed price and I didn't have to pay the $50 clinic fee that they said was effective July 1, 2017..? Along with the prices they have their walk in hours and a phone number telling you to call to make sure they have your vaccinations in stock... however when I called it said it'll only tell you if they have yellow fever vaccination in stock. So I just went .. and when I got there it said typhoid was out of stock on their window... but luckily the lady said said they did have it ..? All I can say is be patient.. you'll get your stuff eventually..

Out of the numerous travel clinics in LOS ANGELES, these guys are super sellers of vaccines that are RECOMMENDED not REQUIRED by the CDC. Most Insurance carriers(thanks a lot MPI Blue Cross) Do not cover any vaccines one might want to get. Exceptions to this rule or Kaiser Permanente for seniors and possibly your plan if you're with them. Check to see what your plans dates for international travel and vaccines with Kaiser. For your country go here for actual REQUIRED Vaccines: wwwnc.cdc.gov Depending on your country, this web site identifies what is mandatory upon entering the country and what diseases you might contract or should be prepared for. Julie was my nurse (yes, she was a certified RN) Who went over my (previously filled out online which gives you $10 off of the $80 consultation fee) Medical information I have provided. The map pictured below Julie was given to use was inadequate as it only showed a portion of Ethiopia around the major city Addis Ababa - if you go south outside of this line you miss an entire section of Ethiopia that also has issues with malaria, "meningitis and malaria belt" and yes rabies apparently. That was a big strike against this location not to have a proper map to be able to explain correctly. yes I just mentioned rabies in Ethiopia apparently an estimated 2,700 people die from rabies . One of the highest rabies death rates in the world but the true number of deaths caused by rabies as unknown because the diseases under reported and rabies diagnostic laboratories are not established. The human risk for rabies is directly linked to the high rate in dogs that are there which is why it is important to hit the disease at its core vaccinating dogs however of course they don't do that. So this one's really on you if you choose to personally take a hit on getting this vaccination it will cost you about $1500-1900. Also the yellow fever vaccine is on shortage in the United States -so a French company sends it over to us but lists it under "experimental" when in actuality it's a terminology that has to be used to distribute it. You can thank the FDA for their annoying harassment of this company that was initially here distributing what has been distributed for last 30 years for Yellow Fever. $250 btw. Like I said in the beginning this is all a big business and they're using our shoulders as the canvas to stick it to us as usual. Look below at photo for the vaccines I sucker fear punched myself into getting "just in case" And after you figure out what you need and how much antibacterial everything you are taking, have a great trip!!

I started working with Mark Men's Health around mid-November, so it's been about four months now,…read moreand I can genuinely say the experience has been a game changer. When I first came in, they ran a baseline panel, which was incredibly helpful. I'm in my late thirties, and I learned that my levels were actually below the optimal threshold, something I wouldn't have fully understood without their guidance. That initial clarity alone made the process worth it. For context, I've been consistently working out since I was 22, so about 16 years. I came in already feeling in shape but felt like I had plateaued in many areas in my life, but with very specific goals around increasing muscle mass and optimizing performance and feeling healthier overall. Since starting, I've seen dramatically real, measurable gains in muscle mass (9 lbs in muscle mass), along with noticeable improvements in strength and recovery. Since starting, I've not just seen clear, measurable gains in muscle mass but also dramatic increases in strength. Some of my major lifts have improved by roughly 40-60%, which is something I hadn't experienced in years despite consistent training. Beyond the physical changes, the impact on my overall well-being has been significant. My mood is more stable and positive, my energy is up, and there's been a clear improvement in my sexual health and relationship to my body. I feel more connected, more confident, and overall just healthier. What I also really appreciate is that this hasn't felt like a siloed approach to health. I've been working in tandem with my primary care physician, and when I shared the protocols and care I'm receiving at The Mark, my PCP was genuinely impressed with the level of attention, safety, and medical oversight Mark Men's Health provides. That gave me an extra layer of confidence that I'm doing this the right way. And I have to say, the staff here is exceptional. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed. They take the time to answer every question, never rush you, and operate at a very high level of professionalism. The facility itself reflects that same standard, clean, modern, and thoughtfully run. I would highly recommend this to anyone, at any age, who is curious about where their levels are and how they can feel better in their body. It's not just about numbers, it's about working with a team that's invested in helping you improve your quality of life in a real, sustainable way.
