Updated review. A few years ago went to this facility and it was awful. What I have learned it was not Kaiser but the doctor we had the time. She is no longer there. We have a new doctor now and she has been very good. Since then my husband had a accident and was treated at emergency. The care was amazing. Fast forward, my husband now has AML (cancer), his oncologist is out of Oakland, as the Oncologist at Antioch recommended him as being the best for my husbands type of Cancer. We still go to Antioch for most of his procedures, it has been a scary road, and I would say even through the Pandemic the care has been very good. (usually due to time constraints) but I know John Muir is worse, the hospital is in Walnut Creek and so are most of the specialists. What a difference a few years make. read more

The interactions I had with the surgery department felt rushed and, at times, condescending, with little empathy or understanding shown. If you think pills make you healthy Kaiser is quick to write prescriptions with no concerns for the many side effects. Many of the ones they prescribe are highly addictive and actually increase or worsen your condition. They also will mix many different prescriptions that have never been tested together. What they do is irresponsible and should be criminal. They have ruined many lives with over prescribing and addicting patients with absolutely no plan to ever deprescribe. My family and I did not know which of the two buildings is Building 1 or Building 2. Went to Kaiser to pick up at Pharmacy and now Kaiser has signs for which building is which and also signs for where to get COVID-19 testing, etc. Wish the restrooms are cleaner in both buildings. I believe that restrooms and the facilities at medical locations should definitely be kept clean and sanitary. read more

This place has just gotten worse and worse over the years. I used to prefer Kaiser ER over any other but f*ck that at this point. Currently at the Kaiser emergency room for my toddler and there has been a puddle of vomit sitting next to me for the past hour. The "janitors are all occupied" according to the security guard. Also there is plenty of garbage all over the waiting room that has not been picked up for god knows how long. Have been waiting for 3 hours and have witnessed MANY people that came in AFTER my child treated way before my child. The care quality is also terrible. An older woman was sitting next to me and I overheard her say she had been here since 4pm (currently 3:32am) and she is just now being discharged. Her diagnosis was "dehydration". read more

Went in because I believe I'm suffering from a kidney infection. Spoke with the person....BEFORE THE ADVICE NURSE. She told me at 4:20 am this morning I should be expecting a call in 18 minutes. It's now 6:20 as I'm typing this and still no phone call. . I get into the emergency department because I can't keep waiting. There's a few people. 4 of them were visibly sick with either Covid, the flu or a cold or something and there were ZERO nurses available. M and they were all not properly wearing masks. No one to tell patients they need to keep their masks on. No one to say there are a few patients ahead of you. Not a single person enforcing mask wearing. It's ridiculous. This hospital in particular instead of screening people who possibly have Covid they let them waltz in without any regard for anyone. Let them take their masks off because they don't give a damn about anyone. All Kaiser cares about is getting money and pill pushing. I will go to Walnut Creek from now on. Disgusting. They left her in a wheelchair and never said a single word to when she will get any help!!! They then put her in a room so that she can wait longer!!! My goodness!!! Dr. Johnson where are you? This guy has to be one of the worst doctors I have ever had. This guy is out of office or on vacation constantly. This morning I was supposed to have a video appointment at 11:40, got a call from his assistant at 11:30 changing it to call only. Then minutes later canceled because he wasn't even at work. Ouch! Foot Dr. visit at the Deer Valley facility. This hospital is always clean and actually refreshing to walk into. The ladies immediately direct you to the correct floor and give you step by step instructions on how to find your Doctor. Let's get back to the OUCH! I've had a neuroma on the bottom of my right foot for a couple years now. The pain is excruciating and it hurts to even walk barefooted. I was at the point where I would do anything to relieve the pain! Dr. Coggie referred me to Dr Razzante. He's a very nice Dr. and cute (I had to throw that in there)! He decided to give me a Cortizone shot in my foot. OUCH! The man (the shot) brought tears to my eyes! Good God! That sucker hurt but I do feel better. My foot feels weird but I'm not hurting anymore! If you have foot problems request him. He only works one day a week so get on his schedule early! I'm pretty much a Kaiser junky and wouldn't go anywhere else! I am so upset. I will have a lot to say when I call Kaiser about my complaint. A couple of Kaiser workers gave me false information, which is stopping me from making future speech appointments. I have been going to speech here at the Antioch Kaiser Permanente on Sand Creek road for years. I always had a hard time explaining, understanding information, memory, and stuttering. I asked 2 women if speech can work on my issues. They told me "yes." There was a speech therapist who helped me with my problems before I saw Norma. Norma was my last speech therapist. That woman is rude. I even told Norma I was told that they do work on those kind of issues. The speech therapists I met before I met Norma gave me a pen and paper to work on explaining. I refuse to work with Norma again. I was confused because Norma told me that speech doesn't work with explaining and understanding. I didn't like how she spoke to me either. I gave her a long example. I will admit my example was personal, but I was trying to tell her that I repeat information in my personal life. I told her I have a hard time understanding sometimes in my personal life. I have a hard time explaining information in my personal life, so I gave her an example. If I can't use my personal examples to explain and fix issues with explaining, understanding, repeating, ect, in my life, then I needed to be told that when I called to make that appointment. She prevented me from trying to make another appointment. She even told me not to come back. I tried to be nice by telling her that I could come back to work on something else. She told me not to come back. I called Kaiser a few days after I saw Norma. I asked a woman who works in the speech department what speech therapists can and can not work on. I know they work with stuttering, and I think memory as well. That's all I know. The woman told me she didn't know what speech therapist could and could not work on. I asked someone else who works at Kaiser. She doesn't know either. Why work at the speech department and don't know what speech therapist can and can not work on? I called to complain because after 2 women told me that they do work with my issues I just recieved a letter saying that I might not be able to go back to speech, all because I recieved the wrong information. Kaiser needs to stop giving out false information. Kaiser needs to get it together. When I called to complain about Norma, I complained about how rude she spoke to me. I complained about being told the wrong information. I did not make a complaint just to be told I can't come back. I made it very clear to Norma that I was NOT asking for opinions or advice because I understand that's NOT what speech is for. Norma failed to understand that there are a lot of people in my life who tell me that I don't make sense sometimes. It's embarrassing. Regardless of whether speech works on my problems or not, I should have been told that they couldn't work on my problems like that before I made the appointment. Sometimes, I'm asked, "What are you making this appointment for?" Before the appointment was made, I should have been told that they don't work on that. Not be told that I can't come back. I would have given 5 stars but the woman who gave my injection was not friendly barely cordial. Kaiser, this employee can do better. Went in for a biopsy and had heavy bleeding after. I complained daily, went to the ER a few times and was always sent home. I had emergency surgery on Christmas due to the heavy bleeding which could of been prevented if someone would of just listened to me!! I emailed the doctor to let them know which I'm sure they already knew and they ignored me yet again. I filled a grievance in April we are now in august and not one person has reached out to me. I have left several voicemails for the case manager and she ignores me as well. I filled a grievance on regarding my ignored grievance and yet I'm still unheard smh. read more

Normally I wouldn't do this but my experience here has kind of turned into something I wish that never happened. I went in fall of 2019 to have a benign tumor, which I thought was a cyst, looked at. It was small, about 5 cm and I told the doctor it all happened when I got a small scar on my shoulder that healed and eventually formed a lump that has been there for about 5 years or so. I didn't know any better at the time of what it could be but the doctor just measured it and told me it was big enough to be surgically removed. Without doing any further tests to truly find out what the benign tumor could most likely be, the doctor told me that head and neck surgery would be calling me to schedule an appointment. I went ahead with the surgery and I recovered well, but once I healed I got an even larger benign tumor on my shoulder. Frustrated, embarrassed and busy with school and work, I just wasn't able to go back to kaiser to have it looked at. Lucky for me, I was working with a registered nurse who was studying to become a nurse practitioner, telling me that it is most likely a keloid scar. And for those who don't know what keloid scars are, they are excess collagen build up when a scar is healing. I've reached out to plastic surgeons and dermatologists in East Bay Area to see if any practices do keloid scar removals and apparently, the ones I contacted do not do them and I understand why. Surgically removing a keloid scar has a high percentage of a keloid scar growing back and sometimes larger. So now I am stuck with a larger benign tumor that is about 2 inches from the surgery, and this all could have been avoided if the doctor who diagnosed me just ran more exams or sent me to a dermatologist who specializes in many sorts of skin conditions because what I had before was not a cyst and was most likely a small keloid scar as well. They even told me in my results of the surgery that it wasn't any cancerous cyst, but a scar. The whole moral of this story is that, look for other opinions before committing to such procedures that one doctor says is a must. Holistic approaches are out there than ending up with a unsatisfied product. I could care less about the scar but the negligence of a doctor to believe a patient's self diagnoses is just plain lazy. I have been going to kaiser my whole life, I even volunteered there, but this experience has now changed my life forever. I can't even wear a tank top without feeling self conscious about my tumor being exposed to the world read more

I absolutely love this location. Toms of parking, clean & just all around a great hospital! The 24 hour pharmacy is the best since I am always awake and can come super late when nobody is there. The labs are pretty quick and I never have to make an appointment which is nice. read more

I am a member of Kaiser which is good to see some of the different hospitals around the area. I came here to see a friends after surgery, I did not know exactly where I was heading but did encounter several friendly staff member along the way to help guide me to my location. This hospital looks very clean, actually it looks new. The restrooms were outstandingly clean and the staff was friendly, guessing that is what happens when you like your job, and it shows. I do not know out the other services here, but overall very clean and friendly place is exactly what is needed here. read more

I have to give my highest praises to Dr. Graham Hamilton and ALL of the staff that I've had the pleasure of being treated by at the Deer Valley Kaiser in Antioch. I've only been there twice, once for a consultation with Dr. Hamilton regarding my 4 year chronic achilles tendonosis pain and then my surgery yesterday for my right achilles' tendon repair. I felt that I was heading out to a resort because the hospital is in the beautiful green foothills of Antioch about thirty minutes from Walnut Creek out to the four or five year old fascility. Everyone I spoke to that worked there was so helpful and friendly. I felt like that the staff was even better then being at the Ritz-Carlton and that they all really loved there place of employment. The hospital was crisp, clean, well designed and decorated. As for Graham, that is what Dr. Hamilton insisted that I call him, ( how crazy cool and real is that )?, relaxed me right away with his confident and reassuring smile. I kid you not when I say that he is the coolest, most down to earth, no B.S. doctor that I've had the pleasure of working with. I feel like we collaborated and that he understood my condition and that he had a very hopeful solution for me that my five, that's right five other physicians could not do for me. The surgery I had is a pretty new procedure but I am confident that there will be major improvement. It's only been 24 hours and I am amazed that I am almost pain free and that I'm fairly mobile for being in a boot. So I have one right achilles done and now my left one to go and my fingers are crossed. I have met many people that have had this injury, most of them being endurance athletes and runners, and now they may have a solution for their achilles tendon pain. This was a non intrusive surgery that uses an ultrasound needle with a jackhammer at the end to break up the scar tissue. I am praying that this does the trick but I know that it has worked on countless others to get them back on their feet and active again. A little word of advice, don't wear crappy shoes!! If you run, buy the best running shoes that fit well and replace them often. Stretch your calves and hamstrings as much as possible and lastly don't let anyone you care about wear CONVERSE SHOES!!!! They are so bad for your feet and you are better off going barefoot. SERIOUSLY!!!! read more

Horrible experience in the emergency. Been here since 2:28 am and now it's 9:14am. Irresponsible careless nurses at night shift and clueless doctor. Save yourself the time and money and get any other insurance but Kaiser. The nurse forgot to give my dad medicine not only that each test result took 2+ hours because they have 1 radiologist reading all Kaiser reports imagine what kind of staffing they have. They have more cleanining crew then radiologist. The nurse says it is holiday time so they are busy. Well dumb ass next time I will make sure my 77 year old father does not get sick around holiday times. The best thing to do is complaint to the manager and demand to leave. Thats when you see these nurses smiling and going above and beyond. It does suck to do that everytime to get treated like decent human being. I said discharge him I am going to take him to Walnut Creek Kaiser guess what they did check the amount of patients in walnut creek which was 30+ and they only had 16. So you idiots are telling me that wait time for 16 patients is 7-8 hours. And trust me when I say there is no shortage on staff, because they are busy playing with their Santa hats and giving each other gifts. I am sorry didn't you idiots took a oath to take care of patients. Ain't nobody getting free shit here. Everyone who wrote a bad comment pays for the service. Without us you won't have mouth to feed. Before you goof around think of John Muir or other major hospitals being everywhere their emergency going with 5 stars throughout each department trust me you would be begging for patients or praying someone to get sick just so you get paid. Kaiser's doctors truly do care about their patients. The hospital is always clean and the staff is always friendly! Great OB/GYN doctor is Dr. Candiotti! She'll give the facts to you but in a compassionate way. I got my IUD with her, and she talked me through the whole procedure, and made sure I was completely comfortable with everything that was going to happen. Advice nurses are also always super friendly and helpful. Dr. Ratchmat is a great pediatrician. I recently turned eighteen, so unfortunately, I am not under her care anymore. She is so understanding of mine and my siblings' problems, but also cares about my father's well-being. She has always, always, always wanted the best for my family (and for all patients, I'm assuming)! She's an absolute sweetheart, and I highly recommend her if you are looking for a pediatrician for your child because not only will she care for your child/ren, she will also care for you. Top notch care by nurses and staff that have always been nice and helpful in every way. Whenever someone gets hurt and needs urgent care, I always take them to the deer valley ER bc I know they will get care they need promptly and effectively even if it means having to drive from antioch to my dad's house in Richmond to pick him up and then right back to antioch deer valley. Sure it sounds extreme to devote an hr and 1/2 commute for someone who needs to be seen right away but if u went to any other kaiser, especially RICHMOND kaiser, ull get there in 15 min but ull wait 1-3 hrs just to be called by triage to check u in!! And don't even talk abt the kind of care ull get at richmond kaiser! It's more like who-cares-kind-of-care.
