I couldn't exactly run through the mud because my shoes would sink so far down. It was a great workout! They have obstacle courses throughout-- like a big slide, over and unders, monkey bar things, tire obstacles, and climbing on the beach. The combination of people that go are super awesome. You have military people, groups dressed up, families, and those people who like to just scream randomly! They gave oranges and bananas at the end for all race finishers. MONSTER gave out some drinks for free too. I usually don't drink that, but the zero sugar ones tasted pretty good. It was great to see the yelp family there too. Yelp had a booth that took your picture at the end! If you plan on doing this-- wear your bathing suit underneath. Wear knee high socks (if you don't wear pants) and I recommend bringing a towel, change of clothes with you and flip flops. You have the option to hose off all the mud/dirt at the end. Oh and I borrowed duct tape from some nice strangers. (Thank you to them!) The website and information packet say don't use duct tape on your shoes, but it's necessary if you want to keep your shoes from sticking in the mud. Overall it's a fun run! I only ran parts of it, yet managed to finish in the top 25 for the women's division. So if I can do it-- you can too!

Katheryn was an absolute delight who shared with us her passion and knowledge for the beauty, heart and soul of this piece of paradise. Talk about a "off the road" treasure. This was truly an unique experience. More adults and photographers need to come and capture the historic significance of this hidden gem. At one time there were 400 fishponds. Now less than 30. Im always looking for places to take guests for discovery. I was amazed it took me 30 years to visit this..yet it took a Kaneohe resident 60 years! Better late than never. Want a covid free experience in the open air, with an easy light stroll around a fishpond? Try this place. Ask for Katheryn, you wont be disappointed! Support and always respect..Native Hawaii culture and history.

Waikalua Loko is a fishpond, a much smaller one compared to the more popular Heeia fishpond further up in Kaneohe. It is located on road past Puohala Elementary School until you reach the fork in the road -go left and follow dirt road to the end. Anyways, there are many fishponds that still need some aloha and preservation in the Kaneohe area and I am glad that there are efforts being done for Waikalua Loko. If you are a school group, volunteer group, or any kind of group in general that is looking for volunteer opportunities, Waikalua Loko is definitely one that is in dire need! Before exploring the fishpond, we started with an 'oli followed by a great educational and informational session about the fishpond and even Kaneohe in general. After gaining more knowledge about the fishpond, we spend an hour or so doing some beach clean up work. You will get wet and dirt that is for sure. Make sure your bring the essential sunscreen, water, food, change of clothes, and proper footwear! If you want to just get away and serve the 'aina, the land, please consider Waikalua Loko fishpond! It is an asset to Hawaii and the island the 'Oahu in efforts to preserve Native Hawaiian cultural preservation!

This is a review of the Manoa Christmas Parade 2015…read more It has been many moons since we took da kid to the Manoa parade when he was a squirt. In those days, the parade was relatively short, less than 30 minutes as I recall. My how things have changed. This year we took our little fur ball princess to da parade, and boy was she in awe of the festivities. The parade now seems to run close to an hour and there appears to be a more diverse group of marchers. From school bands to financial institutions, and all groups in between, the Manoa Christmas Parade, because it is on less busy streets, has a more neighborhood and personal feel as compared to say, the Kaimuki Christmas parade. A highlight of the parade has to be Mrs. Claus, rocking away on her chair as she passes the crowd in the back of her vintage truck. This is a clever take on the Claus tradition, something the crowds seem to look forward to. Another highlight was this year's Grand Marshall and Lion Stanley Takamine. Way to go Lion Stan! Many thanks to all who participated in this great parade institution in beautiful Manoa Valley to the delight of the many families who lined the streets watch. Happy holidays to everyone!

Huge park with tables and places to dispose of your coal if you decide to grill (Longs and Safeway is just down the road if you forget something). A baseball field, a gym, swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball courts are just a few things available here. Library. 3/5. Manoa Library. Currently in a small temporary location. There is a totally brand new library currently under construction sure to be a 5 star location when it does open. Shopping & Dining. 4/5. Manoa Shopping Center & surrounding shops. With so many restaurants ranging from healthy (Andy's) to not so healthy (McDonald's) they is sure to be something for everyone. Schools. 5/5. Manoa Elementary & Noelani Elementary. Great schools with great parent involvement. Their seasonal craft fairs are super awesome. I know I have missed some stuff, but I am sure you can see why we have a great community worthy of 5 stars. #Yelp 365 007/365 Date Visited: Everyday

I was very disappointed in the dining experience at Baci Bistro on May 7, 2026…read more Our waiter was very young and inexperienced. He seemed nervous. My partner ordered a cocktail. A man behind the bar with a baseball cap and casual T-Shirt made the drink which took a long time to be served. We told the waiter we wanted to enjoy the cocktail first. The soup and salad came before the cocktail. I was eating my salad and I found a long hair in the salad. The waiter asked if I wanted him to take the salad away. I said yes I could not eat it anymore. He did not offer me another salad or refund. My partner ordered Saltimbocca Di Vitello for $40. He said the veal was very thin and there was hardly any cheese in the entree. I had a Fusilli Vegatables for $25. Both meals were over priced. We were still enjoying our meals with a pause in eating and another waiter asked if we wanted a box. We said we were not finished eating. The waiters rushed the entire dining experience. When the bill came the prices did not match the prices on the menu. We told the waiter and he said he would tell the manager. The food is overpriced and the service was very poor. Baci Bistro is not an experience in fine dining. A very unpleasant dining experience for a Birthday celebration dinner.
