He loves the store and I can see why. It is well organized with carefully curated gear for those serious about their craft and the employees are friendly too. They also sell some gifty items. I finally made it to Mike Keller's myself, with my father in tow, and while we didn't need any boots, gloves, nets, hooks, or the such on this visit, I still enjoyed looking and we left with a few tshirts. My family is always happy to support this local small business. I also had my Mom with me this visit and we had fun looking at the gifts including crewel embroidered pillows with blue crabs and waiters on them and earrings from Lilliput Tiny Things (famously hand made in New Orleans). Commercial waterman can provide their license number for a tax free purchase. There is plenty of parking out front and this store is easily accessible off the main drag of Manteo.

This time we needed sailing bibs for my wife because the weather was a real wet the first day of an event in Duck we were running. WE went in and really got no attention. Pretty weird, the woman behind the counter was talking a lot of semi jibberish and not making much sense and the old man behind the counter was not paying attention. I bet we shopped for about 5 to 10 minutes and really thankful I understand West Marine. I partially blame the end of season blues and they were very low on inventory probably for the same reason but really this was just ridiculous. I did find exactly what we were looking for with no help from the staff. All they did was ring up our $100+ sale. Crab, flounder, sea trout, black drum, and bait (pinfish) are common catches. The railing has a convenient ruler to check if your catch meets regulated length. A wall separates the pedestrian fishing side from the main road. Fishing licenses are required. If you need supplies, Fishing Unlimited is within walking distance.
