He was a very nice guy, but after meeting with them, we both decided I would be best if I continue to do my own books, but use them as more of a consultant if I came across any tax questions along the way. I gave them access to my QuickBooks account, and we were off to the races. Well, when it came time to interface with them with a tax question, I immediately received a response from Adam saying, "It hard to advise on tax and accounting issues when I do not do your taxes or have the entire picture of how things work with your business. I would be happy to help you in the future with all of your tax and accounting needs. Please let me know if you are interested in working with us on a complete basis." Hmm. This wasn't what we originally talked about or agreed on. He went on to say, "We are happy to give advice to current clients, sorry it is our firm policy." Ok. So I asked him if I am still even considered a "client". His response, "I do not consider you a current client, I would reach out to whoever helped you with your 2018 taxes." If I was no longer a client, why did they still have access to my QuickBooks Online account? Hmm. What a bizarre interaction. They made me feel like they were a good partner at first and then kicked me to the curb when I needed something. A very frustrating experience overall.

I started using them when we lived in the Fox Valley and after we moved I decided not to switch since I have full confidence in their company. They have been fast, responsive and really understand the tax laws. Whenever I have a question I can call or send an email and get a fast reply.

We both have boys about the same age, and I felt we had connected on more than one level. However, as the case drew out, the transparency of his facade was slowly revealed. His words sounded sweet at first, but soon they dripped with condescension. Within weeks he quickly became impatient, especially when discussing payment terms. Soon it became very clear that the financial aspect of what he could gain from taking on my case far outweighed the gravity of the plight I was in. One day, he became particularly irate when a promised payment wasn't made on time, and I experienced some of the worst verbal abuse I have ever experienced in my life! I was floored! He screamed at me that I was a liar. And if that wasn't enough, he ended our last call with, and I am paraphrasing here, "You pretty much deserve all of the bad things which are happening to you, Mr. Quincey," he spat through the phone, "God is pouring his wrath upon you!" That's not verbatim, but it was something along those lines. I was absolutely taken aback. My whole situation revolved around the fact that my business had been giving to charity, and the process was not done correctly for many years. It was my fault, but I needed Mr. Mack's professional help. He hung up on me, and I never heard from him again. I have never been so humiliated in my life! This man frightened me. But I felt I should warn others. Please be careful with this man. Maybe I just had a bad experience?
