Susan came to our home with her husband as a team to do our appraisal for our refinance. She and her husband were very nice, and went about their business, she sent him to take measurements and pictures of other things. When I asked her what she hated about her job she said, "I've had some complaints from clients feeling I low-balled them." I suppose I should've taken the sinking feeling in my stomach as a sign. We had done a lot of landscaping in our yard including grass, sprinklers, trees and bushes on drip lines, redone the flooring and carpet in our home, added on decks and porches. She looked at my yard in Lemmon Valley and said, "It's average for this area," um excuse me? No it is NOT average, it is above average. Our home is one story, she put in the appraisal that our home had a sliding glass door that was difficult to open and leaked on our second floor-I wish I knew that I had a second floor, I've never been up there. She also stated she couldn't see the roof because of the trees, which we didn't have any planted close to our home-you can actually see all the way around our roof. And as her reputation went, she low-balled us, not a little, a lot. Our neighbor's had their appraisal at the same time, no landscaping-all dirt, home was at least 20 years older than ours-their home appraised for over $20,000 more than ours, and she compared our home to an empty lot, a run down house, and a crappy trailer in the very back that looked condemned. I was so angry. Susan has been at this a while, and apparently isn't keeping up with the places she's going or how things are. She is not welcome to do an appraisal for me again. I do not recommend her. She may be kind, but she doesn't seem very bright or professional. read more
