While visiting family in Arkansas from Florida, we decided to spend some time exploring local history and stopped by Ka-Do-Ha Indian Village. The experience includes a small museum, preserved burial grounds, and an area where visitors can search for arrowheads. We spent over an hour there simply walking leisurely, reading plaques, exploring the grounds, and taking everything in. I actually enjoyed going through the museum twice -- once before touring the grounds and then again afterward because seeing the burial areas and artifacts in person gave much better context to what we were viewing inside. One detail that really stood out to me was the intricate beadwork on a pair of Indian baby shoes displayed in the museum. The craftsmanship and patience behind something like that was incredible to think about. The grounds were well maintained, peaceful, and you could tell they're continuing to improve and add additional features over time. Admission for our family of 5 was around $50 total. While that's not outrageous by today's standards for museums and historical attractions, it did feel a little high relative to the size and simplicity of the site itself. I'm glad we experienced it once and I do believe in supporting local historical sites and preservation efforts. If you enjoy history, archaeology, or quieter educational stops while traveling through the area, it's worth experiencing at least once. read more

The museum here, though small, deserves to be savored. Walk through and give yourself plenty of time to read and observe. The collection of arrowheads and Caddo pottery collected at the site is exquisite. It is very well documented and lets one get a true feel for the history of this site. The outdoor exhibit is also thoughtfully and respectfully done. The attendant on the day we were there, Kolton, was very well informed and helpful. read more

First, it's not really a village. It's a field and a store with a museum component and not much else. The clear draw here are the buckets of "gems" that guarantee you a speck of a diamond pre-packed in a plastic bubble. For $30, you get a bucket to sort through in the outdoor area where you can sift the sand out and pick your rocks. You can pay to go through the tiny museum and to hunt for things on the lot, but we opted not to. I had hoped for more culture after the hour's drive from hot springs, but at least it was a pretty drive! read more

We came here years ago and were underwhelmed & have to say the same this visit. The upsell of the 'mining' buckets is a bit crass and store is like a junk paradise. Just seems a shame that the primary focus is not educating visitors on the history of the Ka-DO-Ha people. Feels disrespectful, honestly. read more

My 7yo & I LOVED this place! Took a quick tour of the museum and the mounds then got to dig for stones. Only $15 for us both to do all that!

As a person who loves to learn about the history of our land, I greatly enjoy gaining additional knowledge about one's culture. Therefore, this is a great experience, and trust me when I say you will spend hours outside searching and digging for arrowheads, crystals, and other rocks. My kids absolutely love electronics, which pulled them away for hours, and they did not want to leave. Perhaps more importantly, they got to learn about the history of this lost civilization. You will truly enjoy this ancient village and want to know more about the Ka-Do-Ha people once you leave. read more

Stopped in this place at 10 minutes till 5:00 PM Got out and a lady with an accent came out and said she was locking up. Said the website was old and the 6:00 PM closing time was wrong. Didn't let me have the 10 minutes to look around the store. Really ticked me off seeing I spent a half day on the road. I think it was rude and being that it was December 23rd, you think she would have allowed me to quickly purchase a souvenir as a gift. Sorey, But there was NO Southern Hospitality coming from here at all. The Cows in pasture posed well for me as the sun hit the tree and my gift was the stench of what one could only describe as a HUGE Chicken/Turkey farm. The smell permeated my vehicle; which was very well suited to the treatment received. I'll stick to Crator State Park for a Murfreesboro AR visit!! My family came here from Texas for my grandma's birthday because her birthstone is a diamond. When we walked in to the gift shop, the salesgirl (?) was very informative as to what they offered in the gift shop as well as some of the history about the Indian tribe that was here and the self-guided tour they offered. We chose to just get a bucket of dirt to sift through and find the gemstones they'd planted there. After just coming from the Crater of Diamonds, we appreciated the guarantee of finding something (including a 2 point diamond), and it was fun having to sift for the stuff rather than just buying a bag of gems. We bought a couple extra gifts for family and the girl was really nice and willing to cut us some deals. All in all, we loved our experience :) read more

This place is such a joke! Their so called "ancient artifacts" are clearly fake. The Gem Adventure is just a waste of money. You can buy all the same rocks online for way less than what you would pay here. Not to mention that their "diamonds" in every bucket is a complete joke. They aren't even real diamonds. The place actually turned out to be more fun than the reason we visited Murfreesboro., which was to dig for diamonds at the State Park. While we struck out at the park the day before, but we had just as much fun, if not more, here. We learned quite a bit about the historical significance of the area through the museum portion of the location. We had lots of fun digging in open field..we found arrowheads and quartz....very satisfied after getting nothing the day before at the park. We finished off our visit to the water slough, washing the contents of the buckets of dirt we purchased, revealing quarts, other stones, shark teeth and other items. This really made our visit well worth it. There is a gift shop which has both touristy type materials and more serious collector type items. I second the recommendation to visit either in the early Spring or Fall months, once it has started to cool off. It was about 70 degrees on our visit and it was perfect. read more

While it's a great cultural discovery, the upkeep is lacking on all the exhibits. from the indoor ones that had dead wasps inside the display to the outdoor ones where the walking areas and observation decks need immediate attention for safety reasons. The "search" field is a fun idea for the kiddos and the ladies inside were very pleasant. There is plenty of shaded areas to sit, although they too need attention. read more

The several Indian mounds around the property have recreations of found skeletons inside. There are numerous artifacts within the museum portion of the store, as well. If you go here during the summer, go EARLY, as it becomes unbearably hot and you cannot focus on trying to dig for the arrowheads in the big sandy area. read more

This is a buyer beware place. The mounds have never been officially excavated and so this could all be a "mystery house" scam. It costs $8 to take a "self guided" tour, cheaper for kids. The gift shop is full of "made in china" stuff and not a lot of Native American official crafts. Such a shame too because there's a lot of potential in doing so. read more

We had so much fun here. Found so many great things digging in the field, like crystals and arrowheads. Was nice for my 10 year old to dig and actually find things he loved. He enjoyed the history and exhibits as well. The staff was awesome and were so nice to him. Really went the extra mile to make sure he had fun. Buy a bucket of sand from them too. You can sift through it and get polished rocks, Sharks teeth, arrow heads, crystals. He loved that too! Even bought extra so he can share the fun with friends back home.
