Teka was amazing! She taught my mom and her new pup some great behavioral techniques and I'd recommend her in a flash! Thanks so much :)

I want the best for my puppies, so I asked so many different people where and how they trained their dogs. I received a few suggestions, but decided to do my own search...and I'm glad I did. Leo (Owner) and his amazing team of trainers TRULY care about the pups they train. Leo came to my home and wanted to meet me and my pups before I had to decide on making any decisions. After sitting down with him for about half an hour, I knew I found what I was looking for: Someone who wants me to have healthy and happy dogs. I signed up for the in-home training at first which is Leo coming to the house and training me on how to train my puppies (Archie and Charlie just turned 6 months and started with Leo and his team when they were 4.5). Very quickly, I realized I could not handle training both these puppies the way they needed to be trained. I discussed with Leo and decided to do a Board & Train. I like the schedule because I get to take the puppies on the weekends to spend time with me. Don't get me wrong, you NEED to train your pups on the weekends, but it's worth it and FUN. Archie has become the Puppy King (no offense to other puppies or their owners )). Charlie has a lot more energy, but has improved immensely! Leo's trainers are so caring. I feel my dogs get love with their training when they're not with me, and I couldn't ask for more. I see their excitement whenever I visit about improvements and milestones that Archie and Charlie achieved. They gleam with as much pride as I do. I honestly don't know where my pups OR I would be without the help of this AMAZING Team! If I could give 10 stars out of 5 stars, I would!

She even made sure our teenage daughters were involved and confident, which was so important to us. We've learned so much about how to properly train and communicate with Wren, and the results have been incredible. She can now go out to restaurants with us and handle all kinds of environments so well. Watching her progress with off-leash training has been so exciting! I am here to update my review now that I've experienced the City Dog 1 and the Nature Dog 1…read moretraining classes offered by Canis Behavior. You can find all the classes that they offer on their website along with a calendar that shows approximately a month and a half in advance so you can plan around it. I initially wanted to start out with City Dog classes but they were full so I signed Cheska up for the Nature Dog class first. Brent teaches each series and he's very upbeat and makes all the classes fun and packed with knowledge. When I took Nature Dog, I will be honest I was really nervous and didn't believe that Cheska could be trusted on a long line away from me. During the first class we used 15 foot lines to practice and 15 feet felt sooooo far away to me. I'm looking back now laughing because now I'm using 50 feet of line at the park. In Nature dog you learn how to keep your dog within your radius, allowing them to sniff and explore within that radius while perfecting your dog's recall in this class as well as being able to tell them commands from afar and they follow it from farther than right next to your side. I feel like Cheska blossomed in this class and the trust between her and I sky rocketed. When I took City Dog class we met at the Topanga mall area and this is really where you get to train in real life scenarios. At this mall you've got people walking by, you've got little kids running at you from all directions, you've got other people with their dogs who are just hanging out in the area, and more. So many good learning experiences all in one place. Brent really does go through every possible scenario of what you should do if you run into these types of things as well as how to position your dog while in public. To top it all off, you will also learn using stairs, elevators and escalators with your dog! Seeing all our dogs going up one by one on the escalators is the cutest thing I've ever seen Lol. In the end, Nature Dog was my very favorite class and I believe Cheska excels in this. Being in Nature is what animals were made for. I am already signed up for Nature Dog 2 and can't wait. As soon as more City Dog series come out I will take those as well. With these classes Cheska is becoming well rounded and she isn't confused, she seems to understand the difference of scenarios when we go out. The goal has always been to be able to take her everywhere with me, and through the help of Brent, Hunter, and everyone else at Canis, this dream has come true!

Sydney is very responsive, empathetic to her clients and pups, and provides above and beyond resources on how to continue the lessons she provides during her training sessions to ensure that your pup will come out a grade A student! Would I recommend Sydney to other fur baby owners? Absolutely and I wish her the best in her continuing practice! 10/10 would recommend! PS Theo misses his training sessions dearly with Sydney! (-:

I tried introducing them myself a few weeks ago, and my Westie acted like he was going to kill her! For this reason, she has been inside with me ever since. Came to Yelp for help, and so glad I found Sydney. Not only did she pick up the phone when I called, but listened to my story and gave me tips before visiting us. She came for our first training session today. All three dogs took to her right away(the treats added to it) She spent a full hour with us, and it went very well. My rescue boy was ready to play with my little girl, and the bully Westie, didn't attack, and tolerated her. I now know what to do each day to get them all used to one another, and become one big happy family. Her prices are really reasonable, and she has a fun, calming attitude. She also said she is happy to answer any questions that come up. She did not push me to book more sessions, although I was about to book another. I highly recommend her, and so glad I found her.

On one occasion, the ear infection was also accompanied by a bacterial skin infection. I shared this as a health concern about my dog, not as an accusation. Shortly after raising that concern, I learned my account had been flagged and I was no longer allowed to book appointments. During my conversation with management, it was mentioned that my dog had shown some "aggressive" behavior. This had only ever been brought up to me once in the past, very briefly and in a way that did not seem serious at the time. There was never any indication over the years that continued service would become an issue. I apologized if my concern came across harshly, but the groomer Julie ultimately decided not to continue service. After a decade as a client, I'm disappointed this was the resolution. My intention was simply to advocate for my dog's health. I also have to be honest that the haircuts were often not quite what I hoped for, but I continued going because they were my dog's first and only groomers until now. Our dogs are our best friends. They rely entirely on us to protect them and speak up for their well-being. I never expected something so important to turn into such an uncomfortable situation. Given how this was handled, I would not recommend this place.. Toby
