My dog's been going here for six years. I drop him off early so he gets the whole day outside with the other dogs before going away for the night. I'm a fan of being able to see him every day that I am gone from him by following K9 Middletown on Instagram for daily updates through pictures. Have been using them for years due to familiarity but my dog hadn't physical incident with another dog once and they came home all matted this time. I recommended this place to a friend whose dog came home with some kind of infection all over his paws. When I inquired about the status of my dog the owner was very rude, abrupt, wouldn't let me speak and generally was not somebody who should be handling customers in my opinion. Very clean place. Staff is helpful,welcoming, and shows attention to detail regarding our dogs needs (ie: meals, medical conditions, meds, etc.) They are allowed to socialize with many other dogs in a dog park like setting with an indoor area that has AC & an outdoor are that's attached. There are indoor attendants and outdoor attendants. Dinner is at 5:00. Lights out at 7:00 pm.. they play are given treats and are pooped but happy when I pick them up. i love this place. We bring our dog here once a week to play with his friends and he's always so happy to walk in. They post daily pics on Instagram and you can always see your dog running around and having fun. I love the indoor/outdoor for bad weather days. The people are great - my dog is people selective and yet at this place, he's best friends with everyone. Really disappointed in this day care. I toured the facility before bringing my puppy for day care and it seemed like a good find - clean, the staff were all very friendly, etc. I brought my 9 mo. old puppy for his first day of day care today and dropped him off at 8:30 am. I was told by the girl at the front desk who took him that I'd receive a report card to my email and phone, detailing how he was doing "within an hour." When I didn't hear anything from them at 10:30 am, I called to check in. I was told he was a bit nervous but was acclimating and that I'd receive a report card within "an hour or an hour and a half." Fast forward to 12:30 pm when I still hadn't received any updates, so went to just go and pick him up. I was told they were "just about to send my report card!" And I'd get it "any minute." I was also encouraged to follow and check their Instagram for pictures and videos of my pup because the staff took "a ton" that day. I checked Instagram once I got home and saw that they did, indeed, post 20+ photos and videos of the small dog group, specifically, but my dog was not to be found in a single one. At this point, I was a bit concerned not seeing him with the group in any of these pictures or videos and STILL hadn't received a report card on how he was during the day, so I called again at 5:00 pm. I was told the staff hadn't yet entered his information but I'd be getting that and pictures of him from the day "soon." Anyway, now it's 8:00 pm and I have absolutely no idea what they did with my dog for the four hours he was in their care but I will certainly never be bringing him back. read more

It have not only utilized several pet daycare facilities, I have done my homework and researched many more. This facility is clean, reasonably priced and the staff genuinely cares for animals. Lillyanna, my five year old bulldog, gets excited two miles before we get there and can't wait to go in and play. When I pick her up she is happy and loving and when she gets home she immediately naps from her full day of activity and attention. I have boarded her overnight once and was 100% satisfied. I now know I have a safe place to leave her when I travel and can't bring her with me. Their add on menu of services is clearly listed and they are completely transparent about the way they're policies and the way they run the facility. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY! read more

Left my 7 Month old Bull Mastiff for 10 days, she came back with cuts, a staff infection and had lost 10lbs ..... we are being told it is normal "puppy play" and boarding issues .... I love this place and so does my german shepherd Arrow :). He cries with joy when we are driving around the jug handle we have to make to get to K9. He also can't help himself when he sees the owners and workers there and leaps up to give them kisses. That shows me right there that he is taken good care of when we leave him there in their hands. Everyone there is so nice - it's like another part of the family. And I am so grateful that I can take Arrow there for a day and be able to have a day for myself to do what I need to do without worrying about him, knowing that he is in his glory playing with dogs all day. And I think the price is very fair. If you have to be out all day and pay for a dog walker to come even twice, the dog day care fee when broken down into hours is nominal. I've also used other nicer dog-type hotels in the past when boarding my dogs and every place has always charged a small fee when you bring your own food or have special needs or requirements for your dog. That is nothing new. Plus, all the information about any extra fees is in their brochure so if you want to know, you need to read that - it's all right there laid out for you. My dogs are always a part of my family and I would never leave them somewhere that I feel any harm would come to them. This was my first time boarding my pup so I was a little nervous about taking him here. However, from my first phone call, my nerves were put at ease by the K9 staff's friendliness and professionalism. I appreciated getting an email invoice prior to the boarding. I chose the separate boarding for my dog, which I thought was reasonably priced considering how large the room was that he would be staying in and the fact that he would be getting solo walks. I am not from the area so I had to use GPS to locate the facility, but it was easy to find. It was clean and the person at the desk was friendly and made the check-in process easy. I brought toys and treats for my dog, which the staff person gladly took to give to him. When I picked up my dog, he seemed happy and smelled very nice from the bath that they require with the length of stay. Overall I am definitely satisfied with their services and will be taking him back there if I need to board him again! read more

I have been bringing my dog here since we moved to Hazlet in August 2013. We have brought her there for daycare and boarding and she has a ball. They bathe her when requested or if she stays more than a day. She always comes home exhausted from playing which is great because she has tons of energy. The couple that run the place are very friendly and take good care of the facility. The pricing is higher then most other places but she enjoys it so we try to keep her visits minimal. read more

Unfortunately, when I went in to get my son's dog from day care and purchase a "gift certificate" from the front desk (for Christmas) as a surprise for him, the girl at the front desk who handled my order took it upon herself to take one visit out of the "surprise Christmas present" and send my son notice that more visits had been added to his account. It's December 5. Christmas came early for him this year!! I was shocked. This was never discussed with me and his credit card has always (after checking with me) been charged for his dog's visits. Needless to say, I am being generous giving this place 3 stars. Only because my son tells me his dog appears to do well there. Also needless to say, their employees need to be trained in the ways of handling their customers' finances responsibly. Horrible place!! I took my two dogs here for 4 days while needing to go out of town. I had never been there but their website looked like it was a wonderful place. Upon entering, one of my dogs, Somewhat nervous, Peed inside. A horrible woman claiming to be a manager was very upset and quite rude to us and we were new customers. We were nervous about leaving our dogs in the care of such an unkind person. Upon picking up our dogs we were told they both vomited in the room they shared. They also tried to overcharge us nearly $200 in services we didn't receive. Our dogs were 100% healthy when they were brought there. Two weeks have passed, and $1000 in vet bills later, both are still violently ill. I don't know what they did to my dogs but two healthy dogs went in and they came out sick with vomiting and diarrhea. In the heat one of my dogs likes to be sprayed with a hose. We told them he likes to cool down and is good play for him. Now he runs in fear of it. This place is horrible. While I can't prove it, based on my dogs behavior and health, my dogs were abused and potentially poisoned in this establishment. They aren't the same. Go anywhere else. This place is evil. Never take your beloved pets here. read more

I left my dog at K9 resorts for three nights and four days. Upon arriving home I noticed him walking in pain. When I examined him I noticed his testicles were were very bright red and really burnt. (He is 7 months old and will be getting neutered next month) When I called K9 resorts to ask about this injury to my dog they stated that it is from their rough floors and would not reimburse any vet bills. They didn't even tell us when we picked him up about his injury. My dog is in pain and yelps when I try to put ointment on his testicles. He is off and not acting like himself since he got home. I have been bringing my extremely sensitive rescue dog here for the better part of two years. He positively dances when he sees Brian and will go right to Cesar with a wagging tail every time. Dan and his wife are kind, compassionate pet-lovers who take the time to get to know their clients. I have never been a fan of boarding my pets, but knowing my dog gets to play for over 10 hours a day when he's there, makes me content knowing he's happy and exhausted at night when we do board. I work in the veterinary industry and have had occasion to see just how much care and concern they have when owners are away. I rarely take the time to write reviews of any kind, but all of this is worth saying. I have seen the results of bad care provided by other facilities and the horror stories that come with them. I will never take my dog back to this place for many reasons. I did call up the Monday before Christmas to board my dog on Christmas Eve and day and pick up on the 26th and there was an opening, so paying $20.00 more a day than most boarding facilities was something I had to deal with. After that everything went down hill. The smell of air deodorizer was so over powering both when I dropped her off and picked her up I had a concern about what they were trying to cover up. But my biggest complaint was the added fees and that I wasn't refunded my money for a full day of daycare when I in fact picked my dog up before noon on the 26th. I was given a credit to my account but i don't live in the area so I will never use this place again. I've been boarding my dogs for at least 3 years now and have never been charged for bringing my own food and for throwing some chewable vitamins on top of their food, at K9 Resorts they charge you by the day and service and don't tell you before hand. To sum up, this place is over priced, smells terrible and they charge unexpected fees! I do not recommend anyone use it!!!! read more

LOCALS RECOMMEND GOING ELSEWHERE* K9 Luxury resorts of Middletown made a lot of promises over the phone while booking my pets boarding stay, things that you would expect of a "luxury" pet resort for the prices you are paying. Turns out, they were only interested in getting the non refundable booking costs up front. Many of the promises they made during initial booking were unfulfilled (or came with hidden fees) that the owner refused to take responsibility for. The owner is very hard to work with, rude, aggressive, and completely lacks professionalism and the basic concepts of customer service. Additionally, they don't have cameras, which is concerning, and will not consistently send you updates or pictures of your pet despite requests. Communication is very poor here. I will say there were 2 very nice staff members, which eased my anxiety of having left my pets here but I will not choose to board here again. I have been taking my dog there as a treat since they opened. He loves it there. He likes to see the staff as much as the dogs. Oscar comes out to get him and greats the dogs warmly. I have been very pleased. I personally like the way it smells, don't need a doggy smell to prove its a kennel for me! IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR DOG DON'T EVER GO TO K9 RESORTS!!! We left our dog here for 13 days while we were on our honeymoon. we paid for a private 8x8 luxury room with TV, AC, and sound proofing. We also paid extra for five 15 min private play sessions a day (one-on-one). We left toys that our dog (who is a chewer) is allowed to be left alone with and were very specific (in person and in writing) that he not be left alone with any other toy as he has been know eat them. We picked our dog up and he threw up part of a red kong (not one of the approved toys) and a few days later part of a a blue ball (also not approved). The owner was rude and hung up on me after claiming they never gives the dogs toys (even though they sent me a picture of him with a black kong - which we did not approve). I WOULD NEVER SEND MY DOG HERE AGAIN. We are not only out the expensive boarding fee but also vet bills and carpet cleaning, more importantly our dog has been sick for over a week :-( read more

Brought my HEALTHY, almost 2 year old, labrador for an 8 day stay while we were on vacation.We decided to pick her up a day early. Thank goodness we did! Our poor dog was so sick. Coughing and choking like crazy. The owner told my husband that she probably hurt her neck from pulling on the leash when she saw him. This was not the case. When he brought her home to me she was wheezing and coughing and had no energy. I brought her to a 24hr animal hospital where she was diagnosed with kennel cough. I fully understand that even with her shots, this is not 100% preventable. What I am so disappointed about is the fact that the staff did not pick up on this.This didn't just start that minute!!!! I called that same day only to leave a voice message. Next morning I called, left another message. Called again, finally got a staff member.Told him about my dog. I thought they should know immediately because kennel cough is very contagious. He said the owner gets voice mails directly and should call.Hours later, I called again,spoke to same staff member (very nice). He said the owner would be in around 2. Finally the owner called. He didn't sound very concerned, stated it was unfortunate and that I was the first to call about the problem.We have a day's credit and he didn't even offer to return it. Other kennels offer reimbursement for the stay and even pay vet bills! We paid a lot to have our dog stay at this kennel. We trusted them to take care of her and keep her safe. Why didn't anyone pick up on this? The vet said she definitely got it from the kennel because of the timeline. I will never bring my dog there again, simply for the following reasons: no one picked up on her coughing,choking...and for the way the owner showed no signs of caring! I gave 2 stars because the place does look nice...but looks are sometimes deceiving! read more
