Many people grimace at the idea of a pet beauty spa, but the fact is that there are those who like to dote on their pets and spoil them occasionally. I would probably enjoy giving my dog such a treat every now and then if her hair was longer than a centimetre. K9 Chic is much more than a pet spa, they also offer courses in grooming (for pets, not husbands), sell pet clothing and despite the name, they provide a limited service for cats, as well as 'doggy day care'. I have browsed through the store but unfortunately cannot offer any guidance as to the grooming experience itself, or at least, how I perceived my dog's reaction. I can say that the range of clothing and accessories is quite impressive and that I've never seen anything quite like it. Items sold here include raincoats, tracksuits, formal wear, shoes, sleepwear and sun protection. There are also bowls, leashes and collars as well as bedding and even cute poo-bag dispensers (I'm not sure that makes the cleanup experience more pleasant). While hovering outside I did see one woman emerge with her freshly groomed pet, who I must say looked fabulous, clean and ready to take on the world. read more

I have to admit, the first time I saw K9 Chic I may have rolled my eyes slightly. But not having a pet, I guess I don't really understand the need for pet grooming. I did go in here recently though to buy a gift for a friend's dog as a novelty gift. They have some incredibly cute dog accessories and I found the shopping experience really enjoyable. They have everything you could need for your little dog from bedding and carriers, to collars and something that looked suspiciously like dog sunglasses. I have taken my dog to K9 twice and asked for a teddy bear clip both times. My dog is a cross between bichon frise and miniature poodle and is black and when my son went to pick him up, K9 offered him a white dog and when they brought out the right dog, he was so unrecognisable my son wasn't sure that he did have the right dog. It was not a teddy bear clip and to me my dog looked horrible. I thought that I d give them another go and was quite firm with what I wanted my dog to look like, I did not want a ''poofy" clipping but a teddy bear clip. He came out with a watermelon head and very close clipping everywhere else and when I got home I trimmed him myself and haven't been back there since. Maybe there was a breakdown in communication between the receptionist and the groomers both times. read more

I have taken my dog, a maltese, here several times, they always do an impeccable job on the clip, although sometimes the communication between the receptionist and the groomer fails and the end result isn't exactly what I asked for. I like my dog to keep her topknot intact, they have clipped it off in the past. We also like poodle feet, and they do it here where many grooming salons aren't skilled enough. Overall, pretty much worth the premium prices they charge. But we do in between clips at a cheaper salon to keep yearly costs down a bit. read more

There's nothing to complain about, as my 2 dogs (Maltese/Poodle & Poodle/Terrier cross) love to go there and always end up looking the cutest dogs ever with their Teddy cuts.
