Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Revelstoke - Cereal Bar - Narisa keeps it clean and topped up. Unique toppings!

Clean, modern, excellence in guest service, full gym, and the breakfast buffet is the clincher…read more This Marriott hotel in Revelstoke is price competitive in this market, and differentiates by including a very complete breakfast (buffet style) with attention to detail and cleanliness. Narisa, the cheerful chef ensures that the bacon is cooked just right (crispy not burned) and there is typically at least one other breakfast meat on offer besides bacon. Eggs include omelet, scrambled, hard-boiled and there are two waffle irons with all the yummy waffle trimmings. The cereal section includes oatmeal, yogurt, bananas, various dry cereals, a delicious home-made fruit salad (get there early) and a selection of very well appointed toppings including almonds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, and coconut flakes. The coffee-cup is bottomless and the coffee quality unimpeachable. Narisa runs a tight ship in the kitchen, resulting in a food table that is well stocked right up until cutoff time, and a restaurant that's clean and tidy. Harry and Jass in guest relations are the quintessential hosts, catering to special requests related to room assignment, and both are very friendly and accommodating. I recommend a room on the valley side, which avoids the distraction of the highway sounds and provides for spectacular views. If you are a railway enthusiast, this is probably the best hotel you could possibly book. It is practically next door to the railway museum (probably the most important railway museum in Canada - Roger's pass, Rocky Mountains, last spike, etc.) and has a commanding view of the colorful double stack container trains that pass by each day. The kids just love counting the cars and keeping track of the engine numbers. If you stay more that 2 days you will see some engines twice, which in train-bingo is a double bonus score! The site of the last spike - where Canada became a nation, is well worth a day outing and is 25 minutes West from the hotel. The world famous Roger's Pass and McDonald Tunnel are about 1 Hour East and there is a National Park Visitor Experience Center at Roger's pass. On account of safety and trespassing concerns, best not to actually enter the MacDonald Tunnel, just watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zepXkTPvqA To sum-up: Price, Cleanliness, Modernity, Friendliness (Narisa, Harry, Jass), Supreme Breakfast Buffet, View, Railway History. What is not to love? Oh yeah, and the Ski resort and Snowmobile trails...

Good evening, tonight I was traveling with my young daughter…read morefrom BC to AB when we were caught in a blizzard Making it unsafe to travel. We booked a room at the Fairfield by Marriot Inn & Suites Revelstoke. We checked in and after about four hours started getting ready for bed. I took my French bulldog downstairs to go outside before turning in. At this time, the staff representative told us we had to leave because pets are not allowed. At no time were we made aware that pets were not welcome. I asked for a refund, assistance finding another room in high season during a storm, or to speak with someone who could give us permission to stay. All requests were denied. We booked through Expedia and were told to contact them. I begged her to make an exception given the late hour, the blizzard, and that I was traveling alone with my child. She told me no without concern or apology. My daughter & I were both pretty upset when we left. I just spent hours on the phone with Marriot and Expedia trying to find another room and obtain a refund, while my daughter needed me to console her and to go to bed. We finally found a room at the Sandman Inn and are safe. Shame on you Marriott.

The room itself has the basics, two beds, a pretty small bathroom, mini-fridge, and desk with chair. Wifi worked just fine, beds were comfortable. Location was good, very close to downtown.

Room doesn't come with kettles and the office which has hot water only opens at 8, no microwave in room. The office is only open in random hours depending on their personal schedule so you don't have any common area to hang out in. No housekeeping unless requested and they give me a whole rant about how it's a big deal. Every request I've made, regarding basic needs like access to hot water earlier, office hours, etc. have been treated like a grandiose demand. They will push back on your requests as much as possible to do less work. They're not here to make your stay comfortable, you're here to not be a bother. This place is on one of the lower rates in town, but definitely not cheap. Yet they treat you like a guest who is staying at their place for free. The staff takes everything personally, they're unable to take feedback as a business professionally. Granted, they seem understaffed but perhaps they should consider reducing their capacity accordingly.
