My sister just moved to the area and there was an hour of two that wasn't too hot so we decided to check out the zoo! A lot of the fences and gates make it hard to see the animals, so I think they could use some improvement in that area. My favorite was the tiger because we could see him so close up! The kids loved the zoo, and with kids under 5, we like small zoos that don't take all day. This one made the mark! A couple animals I wish they would add would be penguins and giraffes. There seemed to be a concession stand but that was closed the morning we went. There was a nice playground for the kids that we noticed as. There was a lot of adequate shade, which was nice. I would suggest having a stroller or a wagon because there is lots of walking and hills. Overall, for a smaller town Zoo it was great. We will be back sometime again when we visit my sister I am sure.

Highly recommend getting the extra ticket for the tram ride. They give you a wrist band and you can hop on and off. The gentleman who was our tour guide was so sweet and made the ride fun. A zoo is a place we need to support! On a road trip we went out of our way to get some exercise and walk around the Topeka Kansas Zoo. It was a hot summer day and the perfect place to explore a new city and zoo! This is a small facility so every person that comes here makes a big impact on the budget. The animals at this zoo are so amazingly entertaining and beautiful! They need your support. Visit in person for only $10 entry fee. If you can't make it in person, show up by going online to support these animals and the Topeka Zoo. Remodeling projects are in progress and funding is necessary so that the residents have improved habitats. Find the Topeka Kansas Zoo online and make a donation!

The attached park has great playground equipment and shelters for picnics. To the west is a circular walking trails park. The trails are smooth, level, spacious, and clean. If you circumambulate the outside trail you'll cover about 1/4th of a mile. When I was there in March of 2022 the zoo had bears, a bobcat, meerkats, waterfowl, foxes, birds of prey, monkeys, a talking macaw, and possibly a wolf.

We were invited to a party in Topeka, and if we were going to drive the hour from KC, we might as well make a day of it! This zoo is the perfect size for younger children like we have (ages 2, and almost 4). We saw a bear, giraffes, hippos, elephants, moneys, and more! The new giraffe house is really awesome! It puts you really close to the giraffes. When my daughter got in the giraffe house she had this huge face of excitement and said, "woh!" It was also my favorite exhibit. We like that the zoo is small, and doesn't take all day. I also like that a lot of exhibits are in door because the Midwest has a lot of months with unbearable weather. There needs to be a lot more updates to the zoo, and that's why a 4/5. We will be back I am sure. When we left we paid to go in the miniature train and the kids loved that. Lastly, we went to the discovery center which is only a couple of minutes away. There is so much to do in such close proximity for kids.

It's not a huge building, but they have over a 2 dozen live animal cages of local reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals. The prairie dogs were cool and my kids loved the bins of texture (snake skins, bird feathers, antlers). The fish hatchery is right next door and although it was weird to see them growing Japanese Koi in Kansas, the kids loved seeing all of the fish. The Milford Dam spill-away is close by as well and I always loved going there when it was open to see the mass amounts of water coming out. Overall, it's a fun, free thing to do and spend quality time with your children.

First please note this is a small, quiet, clean and free place for respectful visitors. Children or guests who cant behave, walk and not run, stay off fences and structures are not encouraged to participate. there are various signs instructing these things. The animals are in close proximity to guests and need to be as stress free as possible to have a happy and healthy time and to ensure this place stays available and safe for everyone. The parking is street parking or continue down past entrance for a modest lot near the llamas. did i mention they have llamas? not little cute alpacas but massive gorgeous llamas...anyway, they also have bald eagles, bob cats, and more native usa wildlife. The vultures are really cool and our family got a kick out of the giant spurred african tortoise. they have modest but clean restrooms. and a concession/vending area with shade. ample seating around and a cute play area for small children.

These folks know their aquascaping. Their prices indicate they're proud of that which they offer,…read morebut it's all premium stuff. I'd advise taking care with fish- they use RO water, so drip acclimation will be necessary if you're on KC tap water. The Pygmy's cories I got from them were healthy, but they needed a slow acclimation to be put into my quarantine. They're now in the display. They're knowledgeable about their fish and plants (I'd assume salt water as well, but I don't have a saltwater tank, so I can't say one way or the other). The plants I've purchased from them have been great, except for one buce brownie tissue culture that melted and hasn't come back, but apparently my tank doesn't like buce, because I've tired multiple times, and buce melts and never come back, so I don't fault them for that. Their plants are nearly always in good shape and happy. I did buy some downoi that was super leggy, and so I trimmed it to use only the best of it. It's there, in the tank, and I'm watching to see what it does. But the tissue culture of the downoi I got from them really took off, and is propagating just fine. Their cost is in line with online sellers when you factor in shipping. I'll continue to use them. I've been pleased with the knowledge of the employees and their locality.
