Update 2020 It's getting better. The city got smart and took off the panels that hid the transients. This place used to be beautiful and it's fairly new but this Sunday when we visited we found it to be occupied by a homeless couple that was in the middle of bathing and grooming in it. "It's a crazy mixed up world, it's a doggy dog world" The city of Long Beach is going to the dogs! I'm serious too. I think there are as more dog parks throughout the city then there are regular parks. Well, maybe not more, but I wouldn't be surprised if in the near future my statement would not prove to be correct. K-9 Corner is by far my favorite dog park in all of Long Beach. There are many reasons to love this park. The first reason, and maybe the most important, is that it is a "green" park. When I say its "green" I don't mean there are lots of trees and plants, I mean the entire park is run on 100% solar power. It's actually the first all solar power park in Long Beach. The second reason I love this park is that there is no dirt, which means after it rains there is no mud. All of the grass here is artificial. There are also cemented walkways, a wooden bridge that leads to a drinking fountain for your dog, and big benches for you to relax on while you watch your dog frolic around. Since it has been raining a lot lately, my English bulldog, Sherlock, has not been able to go to his normal dog park because it's covered in mud. Since this park is mostly cement and fake grass there is no muddy mess to be found. And zero mud equals zero mess, which makes me happy because that means even after a heavy rain Sherlock has a place to play, which makes him happy. This dog park is probably the smallest in the city, but it is about tens times nicer then all the rest. I really hope the city of LB will make a bigger "green" dog park sometime in the near future. If you have a dog that loves to play, and if the other dog parks are covered in mud due to the rain, then check out K-9 corner. You and your dog will both love it. read more

This place is disgusting and a real disappointment. There was trash everywhere and displaced people sleeping in the park. The grounds were littered with used needles and glass. It's not safe for dogs to run around and enjoy. While I appreciate the city creating this space, I'm disappointed at the result. read more

Live a few blocks away - so this is our daily spot. Very small dog park, but very unique. Fake grass, small gravel and cement walkways make up the terrain. They have a water fountain for humans and dogs (although the dog one doesn't drain currently....swoosh the water out with your hand and fill it up again to give your dog a fresh bowl). There's several sitting spots for humans in the shade. This park is usually not crowded. Keep in mind there only one section, so big dogs will be in with small dogs. My major complaint with this park is that people don't pick up after their dogs! The bag dispenser has always been empty (I'm not even sure the city fills it), so bring your own bags. They do have a small broom and dustpan if you forget - use them please! I try to do the rounds when I'm there and pick up what's been left behind, but seriously people need to be more respectful of this park. I also think it becomes a hang out at night - because if you show up first thing in the morning you usually find cigarettes, empty chip bags and bottles. read more

The long list of positives for K9 Corner: The park is really really cool. The park is really really clean. The dogs really really loved the park. The city did a really really good thing building it. The park is built "green" so it's really really good for the environment. The Bummer things about K9 Corner: It's really really really small..... I mean tiny.... think a medium backyard size..... maybe it should be called the K9 Backyard? There was nobody there... I went on a Saturday afternoon. Roughly 3pm and it was empty the entire time we were there. The dogs still had fun exploring the new area but got over it after 25min. At that point they just sat and looked at me like they were saying, "So.... now what?) The park itself is really cool and It's a great start for something the city did. I think I'll drive by now and then and if people are there then I'll stop. If it's empty then I'll probably head somewhere that I know the dogs can play with other dogs. read more

We saw this park on yelp and thought we'd give it a try. After checking out all the pics, the park seemed modern and cute. Upon arriving there was a pit bull on a chain and his owner drinking a 40, no lie! We still made our way across the street to the dog park. Homie saw us coming and took his partying elsewhere. This place isso small, my backyard is def bigger. It was also dirty I counted 3 " triple A" batteries just thrown around in the grass and pieces of a torn up extension cord, not to mention poop everywhere and chip bags, soda cans, I mean seriously how did this place get any good reviews?! The downside of a small park is that sometimes there are no dogs. My puppers was really excited about having some fun with some new dogs, but when we got to this park, there was no one there. We spent maybe fifteen minutes exploring the park and taking a pee, etc., but there wasn't much to do after that. The gate/fence is also really low. My dog could jump over it with three legs tied behind his back, if he really wanted to.This made me a little nervous. read more

Small Little Park in the back end of the city. Very quiet and relaxing and our pup Aerys really enjoyed herself. For the most part, it's very clean. Shame on lazy pet owners who don't pick up after their dogs when there is no excuse when a scooper and doggie bags are all right there for you. This dog park rocks. I've been to almost every other dog park in Long Beach as well as plenty of other parks from other cities and this is the most unique one that i've seen, in a good way. The fact that it's a 'green' park with solar power, native plants, fake grass designed for dogs and everything else it has going on really sets it apart. The design is contemporary and it's an inspiring look for an up and coming neighborhood. The great thing about it on top of everything else is that it stays pretty clean and your dog doesn't need a bath after it. Normal parks have mud, dirt, grass, etc, etc. Here you just have to worry about the slobber of other dogs but your dog comes out fairly clean as well as it being clean for the owners. It's not a huge park but i've seen a bunch of different size dogs hanging out together when i've been in there and it works well. Of course if any aggressive unbalanced dogs roll in there it throws things off, but that happens in any park. It's definitely worth checking out with your furry family. read more

This new dog park opened up in September 2009. It is solar powered, has artificial grass, and water fountains for people/dogs. It is quite small (3500 square foot park), but well kept and clean. There no dirt or dust you have to worry about so your dog won't get that dirty there. It's one general park for all dogs so there's no separate areas for big and small dogs. I've only been to two dog parks in Long Beach. This one and the other one near Park Avenue and 7th street, which is huge, but has no grass and is dirty. There are some benches for people to sit on, but when it gets back there's almost no seating. The park is well designed and being 100% solar powered is always a plus. read more

It's tiny. My first dog park experience was at Redondo Beach Dog Park, which I was pretty satisfied with. It was big, had lots of dogs, and people were nice. K-9 corner, not so much. It was just way too small and there were not too many dogs my puppy can socialize with. What's the point of taking a dog to a dog park if there are no other dogs to play with? I am giving 4 stars, because this is most likely the NICEST place I've ever seen in Long Beach. Its very small, yes like a back yard. Its not real grass. It is beautifully landscaped, theres water, dog bags, gated, and just very very clean. When you live in Long Beach, this is a really big deal. Tried this park for the first time today with my two pooches. We're Long Beach residents and aren't squeamish about "transitional" neighborhoods, but I think this park is suffering from it's location. Unfortunately I think the reviews saying how clean this place is were written a while ago. Most of the benches are tagged up and there was a lot a trash from human partying instead of canine fun. Lots of poo left out... all in all it was smelly, lots of flies, and I was worried about what kind of trash my dogs might encounter. It's really a shame because it is a beautifully designed park and I love that it's eco-frirendly, but its definitely looking unattended and suffering from mistreatment. read more

It's really clean and very tiny. One thing that made me uneasy was that the fence that enclosed the park had open parts. So the dog park itself is nice. Even today it still looks good. It is small but I don't mind that too much. The aesthetics are nicer that most other dog parks locally. There is running water which I appreciate. The main issue here is it's in a bad neighborhood and I won't be coming back again because I didn't feel comfortable there. I prefer the dog park on Ocean but that has its own issues with parking. But if you live in this area and/or feel comfortable in the area it's a nice dog park. read more

K9 corner is a great little spot a couple blocks from my place. My pups love it there whether there are dogs or not! It's kinda hit or miss. I've been there on a tuesday afternoon and there was a couple other dogs there and I've gone on a weekend and they had the place to themselves. Eitherway they enjoy it. All the dogs they've interacted with were pretty well behaved and the owners were pretty nice. read more

This place a is okay if u have a small breed dog, I have a German shepherd and there's absolutely no place for a large dog to run. Of course it's hard to find parking being that it's long beach. If your a local it's a nice place to take your dog for a walk but other than that I wasn't too impressed that's why it gets 1 star! read more

It's a shame that people don't clean up after their dogs here. It really is a nice place with decent size for the dogs to play and place for the people to sit. We picked up most of what the other dogs had left and it immediately looked so much nicer. It's not that hard to take a minute to clean up after your dogs. Hood. Maybe it seemed really bad to me, because I had just come from a dog park in Irvine aka posh town. Or not. This park is tiny, dirty and totally neglected. It doesn't look like anyone ever tends to it. There are no rules about big vs little dogs. All of the dogs that were there were ginormous, so I wasn't comfortable letting my puppy off of the leash. Most of the owners were unfriendly and didn't seem to be too caring towards their dogs. We were in and out in under 5m and then had to brave a scary walk home through the hood. I didn't see any poo bag dispensers like at other dog parks either. I always bring my own, but I think they should be provided at dog parks. It might help encourage the irresponsible owners who leave the dog crap lying around to at least consider cleaning up after their poor dogs.
