We worked with a Jaki and her team on a second story redesign, including a brand new staircase and two bathrooms (our primary bath and a guest bath). The JY team far exceeded our expectations! Not only were we thrilled with the finished product, but the entire experience of working with them was fantastic. Besides Jaki and team being extremely personable and easy to work with, here few things that we were especially impressed with: 1. Jaki quickly understood my design vision during our initial consultation and ran with it! I felt an immediate "chemistry" with her and I knew our project would be in great hands. 2. Her entire team was incredibly responsive and attentive throughout the duration of the project. Even though they were managing other clients at the time, it never felt that way and I was impressed by how dedicated they were to our project. 3. When we weren't sure which design decision to make (about fixtures, finishes, or other), they always presented us a set of options to choose from. This helped the decision making feel so manageable and not at all overwhelming. I really appreciated this approach. 4. Along with JY's amazing design talent, they're also extremely strong in project management. As a corporate professional, I really valued their ability to manage the budget and timeline and their transparency about how we were tracking. Being pregnant at the time, it was critical for us to stay on schedule! we felt confident that they had a handle on the work and could rest easy that they would flag any issues to us as needed. I can't recommend the JY team enough! I would work with them again in a heartbeat! Hopefully on a kitchen remodel next! :)

I hired Jaki to do a facelift in 4 different spaces in my home and had a short deadline to accomplish it all. A little over 2 weeks to be exact. I had my entry way, formal living space, dining room and living room all updated. I must say it was a major transformation. My home feels brighter and bigger (more welcoming). I was very satisfied with the result and plan to use Jaki to help design the rest of my home. The most important thing about hiring someone is understanding your vision/style and remain within budget. She was quick to respond whenever I needed anything. It was a pleasure working with her! I highly recommend Jaki for any type of interior design.

Jaki intuitively understood what needed to be done and also the way that the budget would need to be factored in.

We hired her to turn our fireplace and hearth into an attractive piece in our family room as well as finish three new drawers to match the rest of our cabinets in the kitchen. While she came darned close to matching the faux finish (just a bit darker) she did not complete the job by giving them a smooth top coat to match. The bigger issue is that she also could not produce a quality finish of Venetian plaster on our fireplace and hearth. The color did not match what we decided on (buttery yellow) and the application was patchy, sloppy and non-existent in spots. It looked nothing like the pictures she showed me on the Moeded website that she claimed she could match. Once it became apparent that she didn't have the expertise to reapply the plaster, we tried suggesting other finishes we would have been happy with. She wanted more money to redo the job and then ended up quitting without any interest in correcting the job. For this monstrosity she left us, she charged $1320.00. Sadly, we trusted our decorator's referral and guarantee that Kari "values her customer relationships!" Beware!!! Kari is not licensed or bonded and she has broken the law by doing jobs over $500! Since she had refused our request for our money back, we are reporting her to the Calif. Contractor's Licensing Board and small claims court in attempt to get our money back so that we can find someone to fix her mess!

Almost didn't purchase the home because of it! Thankfully, a neighbor recommended Kari and like a magician she dramatically changed the appearance of our kitchen cabinets. Thank you Kari (and Roz for recommending Kari)!!! My husband is thrilled I actually want to spend time in the kitchen now. Kari also recommended a color for our bedroom and master bath that I would have never chosen. However, after the kitchen cabinets, I trusted her with the color. I am beyond thrilled with the new look. Kari is extremely talented and has a keen eye for color. Finally, Kari rearranged some of my furniture and artwork. I was stunned to see how using the same pieces but rearranged differently made such a huge difference. I am so grateful to Kari for making our home a comfortable and happy place!

I can't recommend Mindy enough! We hired her for a kitchen remodel and new LVP floors throughout…read morethe house, and she delivered beautiful results within budget and a week early. Mindy was thoughtful in her design and took time to learn the style we were going for. She is efficient and organized, and a great communicator; Mindy sent project updates, revised calendars, and an updated budget every week. The team she works with is fantastic, they always arrived on time, left the job site clean, and completed quality work. They all very much respect Mindy, and that carries over into their craftsmanship. Mindy's pricing is very reasonable, she has designer discounts with almost all vendors, and she is great at providing options at different price points. Remodels aren't a picnic, especially when you're living at home during the construction. That said, Mindy made the process as smooth as possible. She gave us a very detailed idea of what to expect, told us exactly what we needed to pack up and when, and expertly scheduled her subs to complete the project efficiently. Our new kitchen and floors are stunning, and they turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Mindy exceeded our expectations; we are so glad we chose to work with her! Mindy is a must!

All the floor, cabinets, counters...everything needed updating. Several people recommended I call Mindy, and I am sure glad I did. I gave her complete control of the project and I just stepped back and watched the magic happen. I explained to her my goals and my style, and she took it from there. While I ran my business, Mindy created a beautiful living space. There were times when I would go weeks without seeing the project, and I was always overjoyed when I saw the progress. Her design expertise is off the charts...she really makes it seem easy. Mindy handled everything professionally and accurately. Communication was great and she was always just a text or phone call away. In addition, she provided updated spreadsheets, showing where we were on the budget and timeline. Mindy is VERY ORGANIZED, and I was never wondering where we were financially, or progress wise. Mindy had all the right people that came in on-time and on-budget. I was also very impressed with her relationships with her vendors, they all seemed like family to her. They respected her and it showed in their commitment to schedule, quality, and best of all price. My friends are blown away by how great the entire house looks, and even more impressed when I tell them the budget I worked with. I have had several people asking about my paint color and flooring name. Mindy nailed it all, and she made it seem so very easy. I think the best part, besides Mindy's pleasant and caring personality, was the creativeness she brought to each room. She remodeled three bathrooms for me and each one is incredible, yet unique from the others. It really brings the "wow" factor to the entire house. Five Stars is not enough to describe how I feel about working with Mindy. I highly recommend her.

I had them stage a modern townhouse in Costa Mesa near the beach. Unfortunately, the staging style they chose did not match the aesthetic of the property at all. I am not a designer, so I typically trust their vision and let them take the lead. This time, I reached out to their team and simply asked if we could swap out a few items to make the space feel more modern or beachy. I was told I would need to pay a restocking fee. That response was frustrating. I had referred them many jobs and clients in the past, and while the fee itself was not a large amount, it felt unnecessary and left a bad impression. They did eventually waive the fee, which I appreciated, but the situation already felt mishandled. Fast forward a bit. The property did not sell, and I requested that it be de-staged. Their team came out a few days later and removed the furniture. A few months after that, they emailed both me and my client, who was the actual party to the staging contract, claiming there was a prorated balance due for a few extra days the furniture remained in the home. The amount was under $400. The contract was between my client and 1st Stage, not me, so I was confused as to why I was included. Shortly after, Mark Sutton emailed me directly asking if I could take care of the payment by the next day. I found that extremely unprofessional. Agents are the ones who bring them business, and asking me to personally pay an invoice that had nothing to do with me showed a real lack of business judgment. I expressed my disappointment with their customer service, and the only response I received was a payment link. If you are looking for a stager who truly feels like a partner and values long-term relationships, I would think twice before using this company. In my experience, once an issue arises, you are treated like just another number, and preserving relationships does not seem to be a priority.

I got the opportunity to work with Kate Griffin on an organization job that I needed for my home. I…read morecontacted her one week & she scheduled our appt. for early the following week. Which was such a breath of fresh air in this very active real estate market. Being a Realtor. I know all companies that are associated with real estate are experiencing lots of volume so that was very quick considering the market. To be honest I was in such need of moving this project forward. What a wonderful blessing we got started right away! I had moved into a new home and with the exception of a desk/chair and a bed. I only brought items that fit in a box. Or went in the closet. I initially contacted Blythe so I can get a design to get some furniture etc. but I had boxes all around the parameter of my home and couldn't get to the design until we went through all the boxes and had everything organized and put away. Over the years we can accumulate so many items that are so precious. IE: just to name one category. I had been saving a variety of keep sake items from over the years that were also in cardboard boxes and felt stuck not knowing what to do with them. I didn't know where to start. When Kate arrived she rolled up her sleeves and got to work. We opened every box and went through absolutely everything. She made what looked so overwhelming a breeze. She was able to help me discern what to keep and what to purge. I had a hard time parting ways with items I hadn't used in I can't even remember the last time I had used them. I even had kept boxes from vacuums and other appliances that she kindly pointed out were taking up space that we could use to organize other items in. Apparently, I needed the permission to get rid of it. Which when I did get rid of them. It felt freeing! We sorted through all sorts of items. Anywhere, from a variety of keep sakes (my daughter trophy's, various photos, bday and holiday cards I had collected over the years), office supplies, to electronics (she helped me discern what to keep - and what to recycle - phew - so nice to know you can recycle electronics), kitchen cabinets, cleaning supplies, cleaning appliances in a closet, to paperwork that needed to be shredded and had piled up over time (which I got done), misc. bathroom items, linen closet to labeling. By the time we were done it was after 6pm and we had lot of empty cardboard boxes to recycle. Even though she had been here for 4 hours on a intense and detailed job.... with a mask on... On a hot day. She wanted to ensure she didn't leave any task for that day not completed. She offered to help me break down and take out every last box (I live on the 3rd floor) which we did. Then we scheduled an appt. for the next day so we could get some containers etc. to efficiently organize the items. Bye bye cardboard boxes. What started off as a 3 hour process. Ended up being a 9 hour job over a span of 3 days. I'm so grateful Kate was available 3 days in a row to keep the flow of the process going. I can go on and on. When you don't know where to start it's sure great to have someone who is a professional organizer help you. Kate is experienced, professional, amazing, friendly, funny, jovial and someone you will feel comfortable having in your home.
