Be sure to give your address first and have his check right away. Only received the owner's notice on a late Friday afternoon and setting up the estimate date earlier in the week. Now we are back looking for another painter on the weekend.

I chose to utilize JR Insulation partly because they could do both the drywall and insulation work…read morebut that ended up not being a good idea as they are not honest or trustworthy. We hired JR Insulation to insulate the walls (rolled batts) and attic area (blow in) of our 40x60 shop in addition to installing the drywall on our shop ceiling. They did the work, we paid them in full the second they were done but before they were fully cleaned up as we had to leave. When we returned we discovered that they left drywall mud all over on our newly painted shop man door. It was splattered from the top to the bottom of the door and very noticeable. They had to have seen they did it when they closed the door. I messaged them as soon as I saw it and they came out to clean it up that day. If that's where this ended I would have given them 5 stars. Unfortunately that is not where this ends. A few weeks later it was unseasonably warm outside and my husband was in the shop working. He felt like it was really warm in the shop for having it fully insulated and thought it was very odd. He decided to install an attic access hatch as they had not done that when they installed the drywall on the ceiling. When he opened the ceiling he found that NO INSULATION had been installed in the attic area at all. Nothing was up there. They installed the drywall and, I'm not sure if they forgot to blow it before closing the ceiling up or if they did it on purpose realizing we had no attic access so we could not check to see if they installed the blow in insulation even though we paid them in full for it, but they did not insulate the attic at all. When I called telling them what we discovered Javiar did not seem surprised at all, I told him very genenerally where the house was and he immediately knew what I was talking about. It was clear he was aware of this work not being done whether it was a preplanned thing or if he realized he had some serious stock of blow in insulation that had not been installed. It as like he was bummed that we discovered it so quickly. "Oh OK, yeah. We can come out on Thursday and take care of that for you." He did come out and install the insulation without further work on my part but had we not made the attic access we would not have known we paid them for work not done. This is a 40x60 shop with R30 in the attic area so the left over materials would be noticeable to him. He was fully aware this work was not done and he did nothing to remedy the situation. He never even apologized for it.

My husband and I usually do our own painting, but we just moved into a house that was not move-in…read moreready and needed to get major parts of the house painted before our furniture and other belongings would be delivered. Because of the exposed beam ceilings, it was quite a big job. We decided to hire Tim to paint the living room with dining area, kitchen, stairs, upstairs loft, and hallway including the exposed beam ceiling in living/dining room and kitchen, all trim, and stair risers. We picked out our own colors and wanted Tim to use Benjamin Moore paint because it covers well and lasts for a very long time. Tim brought a big crew with him to get the one area painted where we would have an 800-pound piano delivered soon. He finished the one area quickly and then we had to interrupt the job because of the scheduling of people to refinish our floors. The one-week interruption was no problem for Tim. He cleaned up all of his stuff, went away for a week, and when our floors were done, he came back and re-taped everything and continued with the job. He and his workers were incredibly clean, leaving no sanding dust from prepping the walls and no paint splatters. There were 4 colors involved and all lines between trim and walls were exceptionally clean and straight. My husband is a meticulous general contractor and since he expects perfection from himself on his own jobs, he wants other contractors who work for us to be the same. My husband was very impressed with how good Tim's work was and after the final walk-through, no corrections had to be made. Not only did we think that Tim does excellent work, but we also thought he was very flexible since we could not move our floor refinishing to another week to prevent the painting from being split into 2 parts. At first we thought that perhaps the price of the job was a bit too high, but later when we bought paint for a bedroom that we had time to do ourselves, we realized that the cost of paint has gone up a lot since we painted anything ourselves (about 5 years before). When we factored in the cost of the high quality paint we had picked out and the huge quantity that was needed for the size of the job, then we thought Tim's price was fine. When we are ready to paint the outside of our house a few years from now, we will definitely call Tim Nichols to do the job!
