Odd company to do business with. I originally contacted them for a drainage issue and they arrived for an estimate. I was told they had a minimum charge for a job (@450) so we added more work and a yard clean up for fall with a total of around $1000.00. When I tried to schedule the work I had a hard time contacting them and was finally told that all they would do was the yard clean up. Not sure if this is a bait and switch tactic but what a waste of two weeks of my time. They do have great reviews of their work, just getting them to quote and do what they quoted seems to be the difficult part. Perhaps too busy but they should not waste potential customers time or make their process so frustrating. read more

We contracted with JWB this past Spring to do a landscape grade to improve drainage in our back yard and to prepare and lay seed, at a cost of over $8,000. While the drainage goal was mostly achieved, the contour of the yard was irregular. The cement "caps" for our septic system were clearly exposed above the grade. By mid-summer, our new "lawn", which we had kept well-watered, was primarily weeds. JWB took no responsibility, but did offer a solution, at our expense. We have since regraded and reseeded with another contractor at a cost of over $2400. The yard now has a much nicer and regular grade flush with our septic caps, and the new seed is secured by a well laid mesh/straw mat. While weather and other conditions will impact the success of a project like ours, we were very disappointed that JWB did not take a more customer-friendly approach in standing behind their work. As a result, our $8400 budgeted project ended up costing almost $11,000. read more

JWB did not complete the job that was agreed upon. Our project included the removal of landscaping rocks and addition of new soil for planting. While the rocks and old soil were removed in most areas, 2 large sections were not even touched. These sections are still filled with hard soil and tons of landscaping rocks; making it very difficult to get anything new to grow. Additionally, we were told that all plants had a 1 year warranty and would be replaced if they died within the year. Well, 2 out of 3 of the oak leaf hydrangeas we purchased (the most expensive plant species in our project) are dead. I have received no response to several calls regarding the issue. There are many landscaping companies in the Chicago land area. Choose a different one. read more

Had a quote for some paver bricks and they were high so I found someone cheaper . After this I had I believe his name is Elon come out and give me a quote for some roses to be planted. He came out and mentioned the paver bricks were not clay when it was obvious they were . And when I asked him for a price on the roses he arrogantly said I don't do anything for under 1200.00 . the job was never fulie done had him try to get water to run out of my back yard .today when it rain still water all over the back yard .never came back to put the grass down (did a lot but never got done with it) should of never paid him off .never use this guy again . read more
