Where do I even begin describing how great Justin is? He is amazing! My husband and I were referred to Justin by our wedding coordinator. Initially I wasn't sure what style I was looking for, until I checked out Justin's website and saw all of his amazing work! Coming from someone who knows nothing about photography, I was so impressed that he has such a way of capturing the uniqueness of every couple, while also being super consistent with beautiful angles, backgrounds, and overall feel of a photo. After talking to him and looking at his work, I knew that his style was exactly what I was looking for. He did not disappoint! We did engagement photos first, and Justin was so easy to work with. I told him I was nervous since I never had professional photos taken before and I feel awkward having my picture taken, but Justin was so nice and understanding and knew exactly how to make us feel comfortable! There was never an awkward moment, and he has honestly mastered the art of making you feel like you're working with a friend who also happens to be a professional photographer! For our wedding day, he worked with his wife Nikki who is also amazing. They are both so nice, talented and such a pleasure to work with. I have been so grateful to look back on all the meaningful moments that they captured on a day when everything goes by WAY too fast and you don't always get to see all the details. Now I can look back on our wedding day and not feel like I missed a thing! I couldn't be happier with our photos, and I would 100% recommend Justin Critz Photography!

At the time, I didn't leave a review because my family was going through a difficult period, my grandmother-in-law was transitioning into a senior facility, and we were grieving, so we chose to let it go. After the session, I was asked to pay extra for high-resolution photos on top of what I had already paid, which I had to question. I also had issues downloading the photos and was only able to save some of them. Months later, when I tried to access the link again, it had expired, and I was never informed that the photos would expire. Photos are irreplaceable memories, regardless of cost. Before booking, I recommend making sure the photographer provides clear communication, guidance during the session, and good customer service.

I really wanted to have a good experience, but unfortunately, this just wasn't it…read more The location was beautiful, but it was cold, and the sun had already mostly set by the time our session started--even though I had requested golden hour photos. The shoot felt rushed, there was very little direction, and the atmosphere was just uncomfortable. What threw me off the most was how different she was in person compared to our texts - warm and friendly in messages, but very cold and disconnected during the session I actually felt stupid and like I was intruding the entire time. My youngest child didn't respond well in general and was very fussy. To her credit, she did offer a re-shoot because of my fussy one year old and the preview photos she sent that I did not like, all of which I absolutely appreciated. Even after she double-booked and moved us a day earlier than planned, I stayed flexible and tried to approach it with a positive mindset. But I started feeling uneasy when she repeatedly brought up how this shoot might not go well according to her experience. At the end of our last session she mentioned to send over some poses before the next shoot. I did that and I tried to paint a clear picture of playful pose ideas I liked (ones that honestly looked very similar to what she has in her own gallery)but that seemed to strike a nerve. That's when she offered a refund, and I realized that her approach is very rigid and not open to collaboration, even on small things or for unique situations. I decided to go with a refund because I was doubtful the same approach would equal the same outcome. I realized she wasn't really willing to make adjustments like she claimed to and we'd probably receive an even worse attitude since it was our second attempt. I really just felt like a burden for a service I paid for. She mentioned she doesn't really do posed photos, but ironically, the ideas I sent were light, candid, and playful, the exact kind of moments she advertises. Still, I wasn't asking for anything extravagant. Just a relaxed shoot with a little more direction. While I did get some my money back (excluding tip & deposit), I can't get back the time, energy, or the money I spent on outfits, shoes, and haircuts. I've booked many photo sessions over the past 10+ years and have never had an experience like this--never had to rebook, needed a refund or left a review like this for a photographer. It was such a waste of time where I got nothing out of it and I'm still disappointed in the whole experience. I think it's only fair that others know what to expect before booking.
