Tldr; staff are scammers, beware
Myself and two friends (all foreign tourists) went to this wine bar and asked the waitress to recommend us a local wine to try. She gives us a tasting glass (100 ml) and then when we ask which wine it is she shows us in the menu and it's the most expensive wine on the sheet. All of the other wines were 2-3 euro for the same small volume but the wine she choose was 8 (!!!) Euro. Not only that, but we specifically asked for local wines since it was our first time in Vienna and this wasn't even a wine from Vienna.
Who in their right mind would think it was a good idea to give an exorbitantly priced sample to a customer asking for a first recommendation? In my experience when I ask for a wine recommendation the waitress will open the menu and point to a few options so that the customer can see the prices, I guess this is my fault for trusting her but the experience still left a bad taste in my mouth. This is there loss though because my friends and I each would have tried more wine and bought bottles to go, instead they scammed us and only got the 8 euro. My recommendation is that if you want to try Viennese wines go elsewhere. read more
