This is by far the worst daycare you can send your child to. The energy isn't good. You're not allowed to walk in and see what your child is doing . They're very secretive . Everyday they call with a new reason to pick your child up . Lying and saying they have diarrhea is so common. If your child cries too much they will call to send the child home every single day. The director is very rude and unprofessional. She's hardly ever there because normally she's out of the country on vacation . I thank God I switched my baby's school to Brighter Leaves my child has been happy ever since and I never get complaints or calls home . I worked for this school and loved the children and Families. The other teachers worked so hard, but like me we were all tense when Melissa (The Owner) came into the building. She had her favorite kids she liked. She would give them hugs, talk so sweet to them, kids that weren't her favorite or were" problems" Melissa would ignore them, yell at them, belittle them. For someone who was supposed to love children, she certainly did not show it. Melissa was good at putting on a show for parents. If she liked the parent's she was all over them, if she didn't like the parent's, she would talk trash about them. The expectations she had put on the teachers was insane. Low pay, no resources to work with, very condescending, she likes to put a teacher on the spot and yell at them, not pull them aside, bring them in the office to talk to them. So many times, I witnessed embarrassed teachers' or helpers just start to cry because of the way they were spoken to. Melissa is very unprofessional. I decided it was time for me to leave. Some people are in the business of child care because they have a special gift and a heart of gold. Others, such as the owner of this establishment are in it because they are money hungry. It's scary to think someone who solicits for donation money via email more often then she is available for conversations about your child is overseeing some 30 precious babies. RUDE! I took my daughter out of her care immediately. I work in the public school setting, and her main focus is making money, NOT YOUR PRECIOUS CHILD. Early child care is the MOST important time; many milestones to be met, and encouraged; unfortunately Melissa is only there for the $. I took my daughter out over 7 months ago and I still feel compelled to tell EVERYONE to stay clear. She was extremely rude, did not follow the law, and sneaky!! I also was going to keep my opinions to myself, until I found out that the owner sent out a mass email bashing me when I quit. I loved my job and my coworkers, but absolutely could not deal with the owner. She is the epitome of a 45 year old high school mean girl. She belittles not only you, but the parents of your students as well. That's a really hard thing to deal with, because you are the face the parent sees everyday, so when she's rude to them (which is always) you get to deal with the backlash. Not only is her personality awful, she also doesn't know how to run a business. Never there, checks late, or just bounce, will get in her employees face. When I quit she wouldn't give me my last check. Tried to say I was allowed 0 sick days or vacation days when I was working 32 hours a week. She's fake and will make you like her at first. She's absolutely awful and I could not deal with working for her business any longer and I told her exactly why. If you work here, it's literally embarrassing to tell anyone in town where you work because people all have the same reaction. I was trying to hold off putting in my two weeks until after her license renewal because I didn't want to leave them hanging. Then she completely belittled me and the next day I came in and the renewal was rescheduled because she wasn't ready (she ended up pushing it back so far that the license actually expired, not sure how she was operating), I was so fed up that I just walked out that day. It was a Friday and my new job I had lined up allowed me to start the next week so I could get out of there. She then begged me to come back saying that I wouldn't have to deal with her, only the director. I declined the offer, and then she sent out a mass email to all the parents bashing me saying I was unprofessional and pretty much didn't know how to do my job.. (which some parents were pretty upset about and forwarded the email to me) I now work for The Arbors which is an AMAZING company.. immediately made $2 more an hour + benefits. There are MANY parents here that used to have their kids at JLH and they pretty much all say the same thing, and that's the main reason they all pull from JLH. I have met 7 other women, that used to work for her as well and every single one of them have the same opinion of her. It's absolutely ridiculous. If you are a parent wanting to enroll here, I would highly suggest against it. Your child will have many different teachers (because no one can work for her) and it's very hard for a child to advance in areas like potty training, reading, writing, etc. when their daily routine is constantly changed. Owner also starts arguments on social media, which is extremely unprofessional as well so I'm expecting something ridiculous in response to this as well. I am shocked that you can do so much for this woman and she can still treat you like garbage and bash you when you leave. This goes for many others, not just me. Now that I'm finally pulling my daughter from this horrific place I've called a "daycare" I can put my opinion out there. Actually, maybe facts. PSA - if your child attends, or you're considering bringing your child to, or you wanna work at JUST LIKE HOME.. don't do it My daughter has been going there since she was 7 months old and never once have I had a problem up until recently now that the owner has taken over. The director prior was always so kind and gentle to my baby and even the parents. There were 3 teachers there (now only 2) who I trusted wholeheartedly with my baby. Situations were handled correctly and professionally. Since that director has now left, it has been nothing but hell. The owner is a rude and nasty individual and has nothing but attitude 24/7. The "new" teacher she hired called EEC on her years ago and was so desperate (apparently both of them) that she now works there again. Nothing is handled professionally. Not even the way she speaks to her staff. I've witnessed it first hand and I was so disturbed. I've worked in child care for almost 7 years and never will I ever allow another director/teacher speak to me the way these people have nor would I ever speak to a parent the way they do. I simply expressed my concerns as a parent and was disregarded and immediately told "to go find somewhere else then" and then they gossiped to another parent which made that parent feel comfortable enough to CONFRONT ME at the daycare. Cute right? Today, after days of asking, I asked for my form to submit my child's two week notice. She refused to give it to me and things were said. After she shoved my daughters belongings on me and I pushed them back, she called the cops trying to press an assault charge on me. Long story short... STAY CLEAR OF JUST LIKE HOME CHILD CARE Also, IF YOUR CHILD ATTENDS DAYCARE THERE NOW and you receive assistance from the state and she's still making you pay your parent fee.. The teachers my children had were wonderful!! However, the owner is very unprofessional and rude towards parents and staff. She is rarely even there. Because of this, there is a lot of staff turnover which is terrible for the children. It's not beneficial for children to have teacher after teacher. read more
