They didn't tell us we would be required to have yearly inspections, but when we found out a year later, we did it. It was costly. The following year, since their yearly inspection and maintenance costs were so expensive, we specifically asked them if it would hurt our warranty if we went somewhere else for our maintenance that had to be kept up once a year in order to maintain the warranty. They assured us it would be fine to get it maintained elsewhere, that it won't affect our warranty at all. What they didn't tell us was as soon as we did that, our life-time guaranty with them -- with Addcox -- was considered void. We found out just now, after 3 1/2 years, that, "Oh, well, your units are no longer guaranteed with us because you went somewhere else for your yearly inspection and maintenance." Wow. Really? How convenient for them. They should have been upfront. I feel I was lied to.

I spoke to Sherri to make an appointment and she explained all the different options we have for service. She was very nice and it was easy to understand. I am very happy with the job they did and the technicians have been very knowledgeable and very nice. I would be happy to have them back. And, I signed up for the twice a year service for more entailed service at a great price.

That along with the heat going off the day after they did the maintenance, and then telling me they'd have to schedule me five days later was just too much. Called a different company this year .. Pacific Air Comfort. First off, the unit in the attic had a switched taped shut. A drain that should have been in the overflow pan, never even mentioned. Then when the cover was taken off, it had never been cleaned, caked with dirt, cobwebs, wasp nest. A drain on the bottom, totally clogged.

Big heat wave, ACs are out all over town. Monday I called several service companies. RRM called…read moreback quickly and said they could fix my AC on Friday, the earliest of any. They managed to come on Wednesday. Fixed the problem (capacitor) in half an hour then checked out the rest of the system. The cost was about what I expected.

My repair turned out to be more difficult than they initially thought. The guy came out, the…read morefurnace seemed to be working and they charged me for a simple service call. Next day, it quit so he came again, did more stuff and again it seemed to be fine but no additional charge. Sadly, it quit AGAIN on the next day, Saturday, so they sent an additional technician on Sunday. He spent over 2 hours, did a lot more work, and again, NO CHARGE. It's a really complex machine so I can't fault them for missing something but it's the fabulous way they treated me overall that makes them great. BTW, I was burning the very last firewood as the guy left on Sunday. It's been running perfectly now for almost a month and I don't expect any more trouble.

The technician came out in a few days and fixed it, but the furnace wasn't cooperating. It ran fine until he had driven out of sight and stopped. He came back and again while he was there, it worked. AGAIN, that evening it quit. Finally, as I had gone through 1/2 a cord of firewood, another technician came out on a Sunday and spent a lot longer, did a lot more "stuff" and now it's working great. They charged me for the first call, a fair price. The second and third call, there was no charge. I actually feel as if I owe them something for all the extra effort they put into to see that we were comfortable. Had they not come out when they did, I would have really been scrambling to find wood on a weekend.

This is why I waited 3-4 years before calling a pro to take a look at my mini split that has been leaking refrigerant. My handyman has tried & failed to find the issue for years. I would've been so much better off if I had called Alpha sooner. If I would've called them the first time I had an issue I would've saved hundreds of dollars. Jason, from Alpha came out today & looked at my ductless heat pump. He brought out his handy (& expensive) leak detector and quickly zeroed in on the leak, which was around the outside connection point. He just needed to tighten it and add more refrigerant. The leak detector verified the issue was remedied. He also took a quick look inside my other heat pump before leaving, to make sure that a common grounding defect of that make was fixed, it was. It's so rare & so refreshing to have a real pro that knows his trade so well. I will certainly call Alpha Heating the next time I have an issue!
