I arrived about 5 minutes before my appointment and checked in. My stylist came to get me about 10 min pass the appointment time. No biggie. She was very nice and did a great job listening to what I wanted all the way through the end. My make up artist picked me up right after and was very patient, listening to my goal for the shoot and checking in with me every step of the way. One disappointing moment: When I asked if they had a yelp checking in reward, the cashier said no, but surprisingly, when I checked in they had 20% off your service. Made a last minute Appt today for 3pm; the pic is my hair 2 hours later, completely flat/straight. I went in for the sole purpose of getting tight curls put in so I didn't have to style my hair the next 2 days on a business trip. I could've done a better job than this, complete waste of money. I've come here in the past when I lived closer and never had a problem with the curls staying. I booked my first ever blow out only at this venue. It is less than 8 minutes from my house so I bought a Groupon for 3 blowouts. My stylist, Allyson, was awesome. She had me show her what I was expecting and then gave my hair a wash and massage. They offered a glass of wine but since I'm pregnant I had to stick to water. A wee bit bummed to be honest. All the reviews were so positive! I had a simple and timely experience, everyone was kind to me. I was immediately greeted, offered water, and asked what I was looking for in my blowout -Volume and tight beach waves please! I explained as soon as I sat down in the chair that my hair falls quickly if the curls are not tight, not allowed to cool, and product is overused. Everything went well until I left. By the time I arrived at my lunch meeting the curls had fallen 90% out. I thought by explaining how my hair works it would last. But alas it did not. I made an appointment while I was in Orlando on 3/28/21.The studio is very nice and clean. The only thing I didn't like was that multiple employees saw me walk in and no one greeted me for several minutes. They were with customers but it's an open layout so a "hi welcome someone will be right with you" would have been nice. Especially for a new customer.Someone finally came to let me know my turn was coming and once I went back it was quick and easy. No complaints on the service itself, fast and convenient. If you have fine thin hair like mine they don't know what to do or what products to use to make it workable, look fuller, and last. Also the products they use do not last I kept asking for more hairspray and texture spray and it felt like there was nothing on my hair. I wanted to love this place - wash, dry and style for $35?! I found on Groupon, $32 for 3 blow outs 1 is usually $35 alone. I was extremely sick during my pregnancy &washing my own hair &functioning was a struggle. I saw a very young woman whom I never wanted to see again. It took her ten mins to brush my hair. When she washed it, she put shampoo on, moved it around and rinsed. She proceeded to blow dry and curl my hair, it was pretty uneventful, by the time I got home the curls were gone. next appt, I picked someone else. The wash was better, the massage was great, but she didn't say more than five words to me. Small talk would have been nice "how's the temperature of the water?" "What kind of curls?" My 3rd appt I picked a new person, Chelsea, She was courteous, chatty, attentive and super sweet. She asked questions to ensure she knew what I was going for, while being efficient. She made sure I was comfortable and got it all done in less than an hour. I bought a package of 4 and vowed to only see her and did 2x. The third one I had to see someone else. This only reiterated my decision to only see Chelsea. This new person had no conversation, curls looked terrible, she parted down middle even after I told her I do a side part- I needed it done and she was only one available. My final appt was the last tine I'll ever be there. I was 9, almost 10 months pregnant. I knew this baby would come any day and wanted my hair to look good-but Chelsea was out. I somehow knew this baby would come Wednesday(she did!) and booked for Tuesday. The only person who had time available i had never seen Beggars can't be choosers. About 5 minutes after the hour we started appt. We didn't go to her chair first for a quick chat about what style I want or a brush through like prior appts. We went to bowl for shampoo & She did not allow time to get comfortable or at least out of discomfort before she starts washing with center of the earth hot water. She didn't get the hint either I was trying to show on my face, so I looked up at her to say it and another stylist and her were chatting privately and quietly. unprofessional and rude- IMO. I could hear they were talking about my hair. The stylist continued to wash in silence and the water got less hot. She took her time washing. My hair was not dirty, & this new girl took probably 20 mins washing it. I get to styling chair & another stylist across the salon announced my hair is so thick it'll be a $10 up charge today bc she won't be able to complete it within an hour. I felt like I had no choice but to just pay it as it was already washed. What was I supposed to say, "no" and leave with wet hair. Or pay for half a blow out? Looking back, I should have left right then. I replied "I'm been here many times and everyone has completed it in under an hour and also has never mentioned this" to which the lady replied "the others girls might be able to but she can't. So we are letting you know so you can pay extra today" that would have been nice to know when I booked the appt. I had another appointment I had to attend & didn't want to argue, plus felt pressured into it. Tuesdays is $10 off so it was regular price. She acted like she didn't know about $10 off Tuesday when asked. It felt like bait and switch. there was a more professional way to approach this. This new lady did not talk my whole appointment too - I even tried. This was also the first time there I got burned with iron. While blow drying my hair her next appt walks in. Awkwardly the other stylist announces to the whole salon the stylist is runing behind 15-20 minutes, while staring at me. I almost got up and left again from embarrassed. Everyone was looking at me and how it was my fault this lady has to wait. I wanted to cry (pregnant...). When it came time to check out the other stylist left her client to check me out. She explained again how it was $10 off for Tuesday but $10 more for my hair and tried to explain how long thick hair is an up charge, An up charge I've not been charged the 6+ times I've been there. Now I am an understanding and level headed person, but it just felt mishandled. I threw my very loose curls into a ponytail and waddled out. The curls weren't going to stay and looked terrible. Only the bottom few inches were curled and I looked like a frizzy, worn out shoelace. I Got in car. Cried for a second that the one thing I wanted to accomplish from the appointment did not happen. Went to my next appointment. And then decided I wanted my hair to look good. I went to great clips, explained it was just curled and they fell and I want to to look good. They recurled and it looked great for the 3 days I was at the hospital. Will never ever be back. I'd rather pay more for experienced stylists who will make clients feel valued. I've been coming to Just Blow It for years and have had my hair done at least once by everyone so I can say that the very best thing about this place is that EVERYONE does a really good job. For me, it begins with a good head/hair wash. I love it when my hair is washed really well and ALL the girls do a great job with that. Then they also get my crazy, unmanagable hair so soft, shiny, smooth and bouncy with just the blowdryer! It's truly unbelievable but you'll understand when I post some pics. Another great thing about this place is they offer packages and I love a good discount! I don't know why I've waited this long to review them but I just got home from a SUPERB blowout by Chelsea and had to write about it. I was in Orlando for a wedding, wanted to look extra nice for the occasion and decided to have my hair blown out. I consulted Yelp with the decision on where to go, and saw the great reviews this place received. I'm so glad I did, I had such a wonderful experience here! It came on the Sunday before Labor Day, I called the day before and got the last reservation. So the next day I arrived to a really cute and beautifully decorated salon, that also offers makeup services along with hair styling. The staff was so friendly and receptive. The decor was so beautiful, really nice open space that's light. One of the main reasons why I'm writing this review is because of how much I loved my hair stylist Rachael! I never bond with my hair stylist because I'm so quiet when I get my hair done, I just let them do their thing and leave. But she was amazing, she did an amazing job on my hair, and it's not the easiest to blow dry, I got some real thick curly hair. And voilá! In less than 90 minutes I had beautiful hair with long loose curls. I have a membership with Drybar which is located no where near Orlando, the nearest location is Tampa. I browsed groupon and looked for decent blow bars and this one came up. They had a great offer which I immediately jumped on and called the Dry Bar to make an appointment. The young lady who answered the phone was extremely nice and scheduled my appointment. The day of my appointment I was kindly greeted and the young lady who took care of me was Nicolette. She was very attentive and listened to what I was looking for in my Blow out. She did exactly what I asked and my Blow out was everything I imagined and more. My hair didn't get oily until day three which is very unusual. And it even stayed without frizz. I booked other appointments with Nicolette on the spot. I would recommend this shop to offer drinks upon arrival versus having the customers ask for them but even then they were super nice and brought me a glass of wine. I had an appointment a few weeks ago for a blow out and makeup. I will say upfront that I loved my hair! They did a great job. My issue was the makeup. The foundation didn't match my skin, when I got outside it was more orange than my face. I also found that whatever they used clung to the drier parts of my face. This could have been because they didn't moisturize or use primer. Either way I wiped it off when I got home and redid it myself. I chose this place because they did hair and makeup, there are plenty of blowout places closer to my home. I will probably use them next time. read more
