Fries were average and the hot dog was only slightly better. No tray or box was given to us until later when we got our fries. Don't want to have to eat food off my lap. The seats are comfortable, the views are solid, and the intimate setup of the venue makes this place quite immersive. Some of the productions are a bit hit-or-miss for me, but I really enjoy coming as the environment is pretty welcoming and they try to change up the schedule each year to accommodate to different age groups. RCP has snacks outside for sale and free coffee w/ a personal donation to the theatre group. I admire the resilience of this theatre and its staff as the Riverside Community Players have survived the COVID-19 pandemic, arson, and other challenges. Bravo!

A few tables with connecting bench seats were spread along the center of the street with waste management bins everywhere. No shortage of waste bins, well maintained throughout the day. Plenty of security presence. Directional flow of traffic was easy to maneuver around, the parking lot area was on the east side of the school, right next to the Main Street of scholar where the pop up event was held. Free parking! Vendors lined the street with one end being service vendors, bounce houses and games. Making your way to the other end was the food vendors. Just about two blocks of vendors all sectioned off with security at every entrance point. Wetzel's pretzels, coffee, boba, slushies, tacos, nachos, burritos, empanadas, candied fruits, freeze dried candies, candy apples, cookies, brownies, elote, lobster rolls, ice cream. To name a few. Cambodian, Mexican, American, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese. Lots of things to choose from, savory to sweet and everything in between.

I want to address the "bad" first because it really took away from the experience for me. First, on their IG they promoted the event with a map showing all the parking structures that will be "available" for the event however, that was not the case the day of the event. Knowing how crowded these events get my bf and I decided to show up early so we can snag a convenient parking spot in a close by parking lot but we kept getting rerouted to the furthest lot that was behind the school. This made no sense whatsoever. At first we were going along with it and we were going to park all the way in the back but I just couldn't understand why we would if we were early and there were other lots advertised-closer lots I should stress. So we went back and tried another lot; the one off of citrus and scholar way (not the one in the school). Once there we spoke to someone who said there was going to be a wedding so parking wouldn't be available unless the some other lot would be opened but it wasn't opened at the time we showed up so that was extremely frustrating. At this point I was just over the parking situation. Why advertise lots and not have them open to use? Wouldn't it make sense to open the closer lots to those who get there early and redirect later traffic to further lots? Idkkk. But it was annoying. We approached one of the event entrances once it was almost 12pm. There were security still setting up and they were really cutting it close since it was almost 12pm and a huge line was starting to form behind us. They had issues at another entrance so that delayed us from going in and it sucked because it was extremely hot out. Once security got the okay we were let in. The first order of business once we were inside was finding a refreshing drink. It was crazy hot out on Saturday (first day of the event) so we stopped by Scoops for and got one of their Dragonfruit Strawberry Lemonades. At this point of the festival there were many seats open but as the crowds kept coming in it was clear the festival did not provide enough seating or shade. So just to summarize the "bad" -parking sucked -took a while to enter the event -not enough seating or shade BUT despite these things the event was one of the best ones I've attended. The food options were amazingly great. There was a little of everything for everyone and I loved that! Everything I tried was completely new to me and I wouldn't have tried it if it wasn't for this event. I loved the ube jelly from Ube Bread Box. Krumblez Cookie Co always hits the spot with their red velvet cookies. Aji Panca's chicken breast skewer was delicious and I'm super impressed they offer single options (to allow more room for other things lol). Kokonut was so yummy; they gave a sample and I had to come back to get more. Not only did this event have food options there were also merch vendors. We saw plants, keychains, anime merch, and more! And honestly I think it was beautiful and wonderful they had entertainment through out the day displaying and celebrating all cultures. The event as a whole could definitely use some work to make it a bit more organized and a bit more comfortable for the attendees by providing more shade and seating. The vendors were awesome! A lot of food options and cool knickknacks to buy. I hope Eastvale continues doing this festival and I hope it keeps getting better and better.

And with my last visit to the 2023 Nutcracker show, it was nothing but splendid! The performance center itself is part of the Riverside Community College, so depending where you will park, you might get to walk around the campus. There also could be a flight of long stairs or just a flat walk towards the main entrance. Staff here are also really helpful and nice, and I'm sure they are the same for all the different shows they have here. Inside the auditorium, it reminds me of a large lecture hall: with those wooden, collapsable chairs...just felt like being in college again! Which was cool. The stage and its lighting system is amazing and the stage will be lit up just perfectly for any show. I really enjoy coming here and who knows, maybe I'll come back for another show!

The Theater is large with 1500 seats and a professional stage that I hear is about to get some major upgrades. It's obvious that a lot of effort has gone into making this storied stage something special. Simple concessions from a local club from campus were nice and just the right price. Tickets for into the woods was just $16.00 with a $5 discount for advanced purchase, an amazing bargain! Into The woods was fantastic, clever, and massively entertaining with a superb cast. The Sets and lighting crossed between professional and campy, just perfect for such a fun show.

Once we got to the inn ... lucky for me, he knew where to go so we did not have to wait in line to go into the lobby so we got into the lobby fairly quick. The outside of the inn is beautiful! I love it so! It was full of lights! It was magical. The lobby was all decorated with trees and Santa's toy shop. On the balconies of the inn, they had decorative animated figures. They look like they were singing Christmas carols. I love coming here but I do not love the parking situation or how crowded it is. I took off one point for the parking situation. I feel there should be more signs directing you to the paid parking lot. I took off one star for this.

My wife and I stumbled onto the Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties while we were next door…read moreat White Park for the Riverside Tamale Festival. After stuffing ourselves silly, we stopped in and instantly fell in love with this wonderful community resource dedicated to civil rights education and outreach. There were exhibits about social justice and civil rights, with information about key events and people in the Riverside area. We enjoyed a short film about social justice before walking upstairs. The second floor was a pleasant surprise for me: the entire floor was dedicated to the Mine Okubo exhibition. She was the author and illustrator of one of my favorite books in college, Citizen 13660, a graphic novel about Okubo's experiences as a child in the U.S. internment camps during World War II. She donated most of her life's work to the center after she passed away in 2001 and this is the first exhibition of her art in nearly 40 years. It was a thrill to see her paintings from various periods of her life as she experimented with different styles and techniques; the art depicting life in the internment camp was poignant and beautiful. After we finished our visit, we chatted with the friendly workers, learned about upcoming special events, and started planning our next trip to the center. Highly recommended. Note: the center is only open on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm (including first Thursdays for the ArtWalk and by special appointments). Admission and nearby street/structure parking are free.

This facility is easy to find as it located adjacent to UCR ARTS which is the photography exhibits space operated by the University of California, Riverside, featuring the photographs of student and preeminent photographers. As these two spaces are connected, you can easily pass from onto the other. In the forward space of the Barbara and Art Culver Center of the Arts they offer an ever-changing presentation of art created by UCR students and others. What I have found here is predominately interesting pieces of modern art. Modern, in that it's newly created, giving the people that frequently gallery, an penetrating look at the artistic influences that are currently being expressed Beyond the galley in the front, this center does showings of various works of cinema as well as other artistic presentation. This Center for the Arts is an important element to the greater Riverside Art Scene and collection of great museums. Overall, fun place to check out. You never know what new artwork you may discover. And/or what new artists you may find.

While checking out the lights in Downtown Riverside I wandered by a bright window display that…read moreturned out to be an art project housed in this Center of the Arts! I was thrilled to learn that the center was associated with UCR's College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. As a CHASS alum I couldn't miss out on seeing what was inside. I left a donation of five dollars and spent fifteen minutes admiring the current exhibition, a series of sculptures made out of various recycled plastics--and other materials, I'm sure. What a bright spot along the promenade this place will be for years to come! I'll be sure to check out future exhibitions--and they do film screenings here, too. What a great renovation to this classic building!
