Junnon was the first health care professional to introduce me to therapeutic massage and specifically Thai massage - she had recently undergone an intensive long training (in Thailand) to learn techniques to add to her formal training. This is back in 2006 and I have been in search of someone who can do what she did ever since! She was traveling in Seattle when I met her, so it would have been a long commute for me to go to Paris for my therapy... but her work makes it almost worth the plane ticket! I can't stress enough how therapeutically effective her work was for me, and how unique. She combined pretty intensive investigation (interviewing me during her intake process covering my history of injury, exercise, but also my psychological state - she didn't say this but I suspect her investigation about physical injuries and physical health was about figuring out what would be the best physical treatment, and her investigation about my psychological status (discussions covering any issues with depression, anxiety, family, trauma, etc., were extremely 'gentle' and not intrusive - she has a way of guiding the discussion that is so natural and comfortable) was also about figuring out the best approach to the therapy. I guess her overall approach, which is wholistic (mind+body+environment+history+hopes/fears) combines to result in an absolutely customized approach to her patients' unique situation. It's remarkable. Naturally, the actual physical therapeutic massage portion (which included stretch, muscle work, flexibility work, and this funny little wooden stick that she used to deliver pressure to points on and around my feet ... I'm a soccer player so my feet have a lot of scar tissue and a complex history of repeated injury... that was pretty amazing. So there is the aspect of traditional massage therapy like you would find when you go to a regular massage therapist -- working out kinks in muscles and so forth -- but the therapeutic experience with Junnon is SO MUCH MORE than that. Five stars, easy... 10 stars! I only wish I were living near her practice, I'd be there several times a week. HIGHLY recommend. read more

My first experience with Junnon's practice (and I must emphasize experience) was straight massage. To begin with, Junnon is a force of nature. She has a good sense of humor, deep knowledge about her subject, and a lot of experience. And she is incredibly compassionate. If you are considering going to her for a massage, do go. But you must understand that it is a bit like thinking you need to take a walk around the block to cool your head, and instead you learn a lot about your body, (in a non-officious way) how to manage some of your habitual body stresses, and you actually end up floating home. My first massage with her was unlike any previous massage I had ever had for the intelligence and care with which she approached the massage. I have a small frame and went to her with a lot of tension. The beneficial effects were long lasting. She also worked on my mother and my husband, who both carry a lot of tension (my mother is a mother, and my husband is in finance)--both lament that they have not been able to find the same level of massage since. When I told Junnon that I was diagnosed as borderline pre-diabetic, she said she would check me out through a series of energy techniques and concurred with the diagnosis. She then prescribed some very simple exercises for me, which take about a minute morning and evening. She said that if I practiced consistently, I would see that my next doctors visit would show improvement. I did do them religiously (because I trusted her), and found at my next checkup I I was out of the woods without having to sacrifice my chocolate! I continue the exercises given my genetic history and feel very grateful to Junnon, especially since doctors in my family recommended taking tablets for preventative measures. I am now in New York, otherwise I'd see her as regularly as I visit my doctor for general checkups, and for massage besides! read more

I met Junnon last month on my amazing trip to Paris. Since I have hip issues I needed a knowledgeable masseuse to help me get through the pain of so much walking. Junnon is more like a sports massage therapist than a typical masseuse in Paris. She knew exactly the areas I needed help with and was able to get me walking again for the 2nd half of my trip. The day before I left was the most painful day and she hopped on the metro and came to me and helped me manage my long trip home. I am still doing every exercise she suggested! I would recommend her to anyone that has pain issues even chronic issues. She was amazing!!! She also introduced me to EFT and I am looking into therapists in the states to help with my Fibromyalgia! Paris has been a home away from home for me, but since my recent gem of a discovery, that home is now an exquisite castle oasis. It started out as a worsening of a chronic back ache on the plane to Paris a few months ago, and my stress level was just as bad, if not worse. I had to be fully mobile and unencumbered for work, so the first thing upon landing was to find a massage therapist. I came across Junnon Sawamura-Merigoux's Intelsoma Holistic Massage. The appointment was made, me barely able to muster up a conversation as I was in a good deal of pain. On my way to the appointment, I realized I had read about Junnon's work in Vogue Fashion Week's online website last year. This was going to be auspicious... After the 90 minute session, I was flabbergasted that my backache was completely alleviated! I had been suffering from back problems for so long that I couldn't recall NOT having any pain. During the session, I broke out in tears due to the watershedding of accumulated stress, feeling incredibly relieved and serene afterwards. She made me do some Pilates-like exercises after the massage session to further strengthen my muscles. I was now in top form to work, but despite my busy schedule, I made 2 more appointments to tend to the accumulated/accumulating stress. During four months of living and walking in Paris my back, hips and feet demanded care and attention. Junnon helped me with my over walked body and much else as well. She was a wise and sensitive counsellor when she discovered that my mother had died just before I arrived in Paris. Simple exercises were part of her treatment and these I plan to continue for the rest of my life. I will be forever grateful for her help and advice.
