This was not a whole house clean up just some misc household goods and trash/junk left behind. After sending photos we agreed that a 26 foot box truck would accommodate this project more than likely. The representative also shared that if we use less space it will be less of a charge and it looks like there may be space left. I figured for the whole truck anyway. Job is done Hortons are paid. I had my Realtor do a walk-through as to get house ready to rent again. at rear of garage there was a single chair left. I called Hortons and they said that they could return to pick up the chair but there would be an additional charge. Either they were not thorough with their initial job or they were trying to take advantage of an out of townee. Not sure but this company is shady and I wouldn't recommend anybody doing business with them.

I utilized House of Day Funeral Services for my grandmother's funeral, which took place…read moreapproximately 10 days ago. I reside in Texas, but spent the last three years traveling to Toledo to provide 24/7 care for my grandmother for approximately two weeks each month until her passing. I was assigned Funeral Director Michael K. Day Jr. Unfortunately, my experience was marked by repeated errors, poor communication, and a lack of organization during one of the most difficult times for my family. 1. Failure to Reserve the Repast Venue - Mr. Day included charges on the funeral invoice for the Scott Park Banquet Hall and repeatedly assured me that the venue had been reserved on the calendar. However, during our invoice finalization meeting on June 4, 2026, Mr. Day informed me that he had forgotten to save the reservation on the calendar, resulting in the banquet hall being reserved by another family. Mr. Day suggested that the repast be held before the funeral service--an arrangement that was neither practical nor appropriate given the circumstances. He offered to send me a list of alternative banquets. I never received the list or any additional assistance in locating a replacement venue. This preventable oversight forced my family to scramble for alternative arrangements at the last minute. 2. Cemetery Scheduling Error - On June 3, I received a call from Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery, which offered condolences and advised that they had just spoken with Mr. Day regarding dispatching a crew to dig my grandmother's grave on June 6. This was incorrect because the funeral services were scheduled for the following Saturday. I informed her of the error and immediately contacted Mr. Day, who acknowledged his mistake and stated he still had the old date down, although I had already sent an email. 3. Casket Pricing and Product Information Errors - Mr. Day provided me with a casket selection sheet containing outdated pricing information. Near the end of the process, I discovered that the selected casket cost approximately $310 more than the quoted and given to me. 4. Failure to Follow Hair Instructions - I specifically instructed, both verbally and in writing, that a portion of my grandmother's hair be cut and preserved before her hair was dyed so that I could gift my family members with keepsake boxes. This instruction was not followed. My brother physically visited the funeral home on June 8th, in which Danielle cut her hair, but stated that she did not receive my email and that my grandmother's hair had already been dyed in preparation for her funeral. This is no longer a keepsake that my family will be able to have. 5. Failure to Attend Scheduled Meetings and Lack of Communication - Throughout the process, it was extremely difficult to reach Mr. Day. Numerous phone calls went unanswered, and staff frequently advised me that he was not in the office. Most notably, I scheduled an in-person meeting with him, arriving at 10:30-11:00 a.m. on June 8. I arrived at 10:55 a.m. and was instructed to wait. After waiting for close to an hour, the receptionist paged him multiple times, and the senior attendant even searched the parking lot for his vehicle. Mr. Day was nowhere to be found. 6. This situation caused significant frustration and resulted in an unpleasant interaction on my part. However, after this incident, I met with Mr. Carson and Tara, who worked diligently to finalize arrangements only two days before my grandmother's services. At that point, I specifically requested that Michael K. Day Jr. no longer be involved in handling my grandmother's funeral services or be the Funeral Director at my grandmother's services. This was reinforced when I spoke with his mother, Mrs. Alison Day. I do not take writing negative reviews lightly. In fact, I routinely leave positive reviews when I receive exceptional service from start to finish because I believe good businesses deserve to be recognized. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

Dear House of Day Funeral Home;…read more The day came, and we knew it was coming soon, but the reality of it coming was the most difficult to accept. However, the pre-planning needed to occur before her passing so that we knew we had a one-stop final arrangement team ready to assist us when the storm came that Sunday so we could embrace the reality she had passed. I wanted to take a few moments to express my sincere appreciation for the beautiful wake and funeral arrangements you and your team provided for our Momma, Margie Ann Williams. We appreciate your mindfulness, profound sensitivity, sincerity, counsel, and professionalism throughout her homegoing preparation and life celebration, which allowed us to publicly cherish our loving thoughts and memories of our dear Momma. Throughout the entire process, from the pre-planning to the post-follow-up, you and your team were there EVERY step to provide guidance, support, and comfort to me and my brother. Your unwavering dedication and commitment reassured us that we were not alone. Thank you to the entire House of Day Funeral Home staff, from receiving our Momma to the post-follow-up phases; your professionalism and dedication have not gone unnoticed. Not exclusively, but April, First Line Receptionist, for every call and question, you responded quickly or connected me to the team member as applicable with compassion and patience every time and every call, even when there were multiple back-to-back repeat calls; thank you. Danielle Embalmer, you did a beautiful job in maintaining and enhancing the integrity of our Momma's remaining vessel. Most importantly, thank you for allowing us to see her a few days later after her passing to visit and celebrate her birthday in seclusion; this was needed in our healing while we devastatingly grieved. Gary, Mortician, your diligence with details ensured she looked her best in her gold gown and accessories. Your meticulous attention to every aspect of her appearance, from her hair and makeup to the large and small added accessories, displayed well with the floral arrangements and poster placements, enhanced the light in her that we all love and know. This attention to detail made us feel our Momma was in the best hands.  Tara, our Digital Designer, your patience and creativity in all things visual and the vault design, which depicted her life in pictures and video, were final additions that will remain with her through resurrection, adding a personal and visual touch of her life's journey. Jimmy, on family transportation, your compassion and gentleness were what we also needed to remind us that everything would be okay and that the House of Day was there to carry us through. Your emotional support was as important as the physical transportation you provided. Lastly, Roger, the Funeral Director, we appreciate you holding our hands every step of the way. The patience and counsel you provided during the pre-planning, merchandise and services selection, service arrangements, actual service coordination, and the entire post-follow-up process was genuine love for our family. You may hear this often, but we would not have made it alone because our emotions were too tender and raw to do it alone without a gentle guiding hand and shoulder to assist us through the entire process. Overall, House of Day's professionalism regarding our Momma, from behind-the-scenes preparation to front-of-the-house services, projected quality care, and genuine compassion. This professionalism significantly and positively impacted the family's final viewing of her, helping us process her passing with our devastating loss. House of Day's services, including merchandise selection, enhanced the vision of reflecting a true celebration of love for Margie Ann Williams' life and legacy. I remember planning her final arrangement, which included her pre-planned desire to include touches of gold coloring in key components, and the House of Day implemented and enhanced her final wish with those details flawlessly. I know she would have been so proud and touched by the beautiful enhancements that created and displayed the pricelessness the family shares of her as more precious than gold. With all the gold coloring and regal touches from the casket and lining personalization details, customized vault selection, to the glass-covered carriage final ride that provided her last ride past her Twelfth Street and family church upbrings before releasing her to her final resting place, are touches that not only met but exceeded our expectations, making her homegoing a beautiful and loving tribute to a very beloved Christian solider, and Momma who is deeply missed. Once again, thank you all at the House of Day for making our Momma, Margie Ann Williams' homegoing celebration of her life and legacy uniquely meaningful and eloquent while adding to the deeper overall purposefulness. Your kindness and professionalism will not be forgotten. - The Family of Margie Williams
