What an awesome find! After disassembling a couch and putting together a new couch, my husband and I found ourselves with a bunch of furniture debris and cardboard with only a small SUV to put it all into, meaning a bunch of trips to the dump. And these days, sometimes that means an hour or more wait since a lot of people are cleaning and doing home improvements during quarantine. I will admit, that I am one to throw money at a problem if it means it will fix it. But I also want to make sure that the money I'm spending meets the need and is reasonable. I looked around a few places and Junk King gave me the best estimate. They also stayed within that estimate once arriving at my house. I was given a window for arrival of 9 - 11am. I hadn't heard anything by 10:30am so I called to confirm that I was on the schedule and was informed yes and that there were no delays noted so I should hear from them soon. I called again at 10:56am and the agent that time called the actual crew to find out what was going on and then let me know they were running behind and would be calling me right now to let me know what's going on. I asked her to cancel instead since the window had passed without anyone letting me know that they were not coming on time. I have no problem with them running behind/being late but the lack of consideration in not contacting me to let me know is unacceptable. I would not recommend this company. read more

Had an estimate appointment scheduled for 12/30/24 between 9-11am. No one called or showed up. On 1/2/24 I received an appointment cancellation email. I reached out to the company and they told me the "appointment was no longer needed." I did not cancel anything. This location needs better customer service. The professionals that came out to my house where very friendly, fast, and professional. They came on time and called ahead of time to let me know when they were 30 minutes out. They got my junk hauled off quick and left me with a nice clear home, ready to fill up again. ;-) Junk King was a cheaper than the name-brand 1-800 company you see ads for. The truck they sent was bigger and the sales pitch is that a 1/2 truck full from Junk King hauls off more stuff than 1/2 truck from other junk companies. The professionals did all they could to make my stuff use as little space as possible for the truck, thus costing me less. They also gave me tips on how to break things down to fit even more the next time they come out. All in all, a very pleasant experience. I'd book them again. Wasn't sure what to expect, but with our upcoming move we needed to get rid of an old computer desk, a sleeper sofa and some other odds and ends. Both of the gentlemen were polite and (despite the HUGE sleeper sofa) did not groan at the burdens they bore. I was very happy with my experience with Junk King. I was in NC for only a week to clean out my house and get it ready for sale. I loved that I could schedule online and get a reasonable time frame in which the truck would show up. The guys were friendly and efficient and even did a few extra clean ups and repairs for me which I genuinely appreciated. That was way beyond the call of duty! I made an appointment on a Friday afternoon between 2 and 4 with a 15 minute window for them to call and tell me they are arriving. I called the call center at 3:36 they said they would have the person scheduled call me. The person who was scheduled called me back and told me the call center double booked them and that I should not expect them today I should reschedule. So I rescheduled for Monday in between 9 and 11 I called the call center four timed then I was told they are not going to show up today after all because they were down one truck and an employee had to leave early. I am not normally one to leave like negative reviews, but our experience was so inconvenient and unprofessional I wanted others to be aware of this situation possibly happening to them - I scheduled a pick up online for Saturday between 12-2:00 -received a call at 10:00 and 10:30 telling me that they were in my area earlier than they expected and wanted to come to our house. I was not expecting them for another 2 hours (as scheduled) and was unable to have access to my phone that morning. So I missed the calls -2:00 came and went, still no truck. I called corporate and corporate said my pick up was canceled due to "customer not accepting phone calls". They called 2 hours before expected, my pick up should not have been canceled due to me not answering 2 hours in advance to scheduling - Corporate had the drivers call me. Drivers told me they were over an hour away and were unsure if they'd be able to make it to our house before dark (several hours after scheduled time) and that I would just have to wait on their call -called corporate back with my complaint. Corporate said there would be a sizable discount for our inconvenience -got a call from drivers. They arrived at 3:45. Quoted us WAY over what their internet price says. We MAYBE have 3 pick up trucks full in our garage (old carpet and padding and boxes from moving). By the attitude and situation, we felt that this increase and quote was because the company was also frustrated from the situation. No additional discount beyond the $30 internet discount was given. Call to corporate was made again - $50 discount was offered but the owner did not match the price corporate told me and we decided to not go with their service out of frustration and inconvenience. I understand that corporate does not run the franchises on a personal level, but the experience as a whole was very stressful and off putting. I would say the CSR in California that I interacted with (Nicole) was very pleasant and responsive. read more

Booked an 8-10am appointment online just to get a couple items removed from my house (literally a 5 minute job). Got a call at 8:15 that they were finishing up another job in Greensboro (over an hour away), and then they'd head my way. I called back at 10:30 to find out how close they were, and learned it would be another half hour. So they showed up around 11 - luckily not a big deal to me that they were late, but could impact others who schedule their day around the appointment window. The men who came to do the pickup told me it would cost more than the quote I had gotten just the day before when I called. However, they didn't argue about it and charged me what I was originally quoted. The men were polite and quickly removed the items. read more

Had an appointment set up for yesterday, waited up until the last minute and got a call from a girl stating that they had a "big job" going on and wouldn't make it today. I was totally fine with it because unexpected things can happen. So we rescheduled it for today -- well, it turns out they didn't show up for today's appointment either, and this time they didn't even call! Love when that happens. Second, the guys were so friendly and accommodating. They were in and out with all my junk in no time at all. They respected my home and was careful about hauling heavy junk through the house. Pros: - The workers doing the work are polite and professional. - They know how to move junk out of your house just like professional movers do with your furniture. Why 2 stars? - Cost estimate on the high side. I had a lot's of junk from a 3800 sq. ft house that was being prepped for sale. They said it would take 4-5 loads to move out and quoted accordingly. I didn't have time to shop around and given their good reviews, I thought they would be fair with me - Said they could start right now (Wed.) and finish up Thursday. First said they would do a half load (had stuff in their truck) and come back to do a full load on Wed. Later called and said they won't come back on Wed. (no biggie). I just wanted to make sure they finish on Thursday. They said they would and wanted to come by at 7-8AM on Thursday. - When they left Wed., there was a small about of debris on my driveway and in the house that spilled over while bringing it to their truck. Lead drive said that attic insulation spilled onto my top floor and he would clean it up if I got a vacuum cleaner for him. I did but he never cleaned it up and when I asked about it the next day, he said that I shouldn't expect them to clean this up since attic insulation will naturally spill during junk removal but because they do good customer service, he would do it (like it was a favor to me). They did clean up the other debris that spilled out from Wednesday. - By 12:30 PM on Thursday, nobody came and nobody called. I called them and got a call center. I had to push real hard to get a supervisor name to figure out what was going on. They gave me the franchise owner's number and he said he would figure out what's going on. - Got a call around 1:15PM saying their truck broke down, it was fixed and they would be there. - Arrived around 1:45PM. I said I doubted they would finish everything by Thursday and wanted to know how many loads they could do by end of day and whether I could just have them finish up what they could and I pay by the load. The lead driver then said I should not be re-negotiating the agreed upon price. - I didn't understand why I could not pay-by-load. I should be able to pay retail rates for whatever work they did and by end-of-day just pay for that and ask them not to come back. Had to talk to supervisor just to get that "concession". - Ended up only doing 2 more loads. I asked them to do the inside so they took extra time to grab stuff all around the house to dump. They charge $100/hr. to grab stuff in cabinets, etc. That was fine since I was informed in advance. Although they knew about this work via the Wednesday estimate, they didn't have any bags, containers so I had to supply the trash bags for them.Fortunately, I had enough. - Since they didn't finish on Thursday, they said I had to schedule more time on Friday. They didn't honor their commitment to finish on Thursday. Nor would the driver commit to finishing Friday since they had other loads and dispatch does the scheduling. - I paid them on a per load basis for 2 1/2 loads plus an hour to collect stuff from cabinets/shelves to dump. - Central office offered no real apologies or concessions/discount for not honoring what I really needed, which was all junk out by Thursday - Looked like there was only one more load needed to finish up the job. I didn't call them back and got another contractor to do the job at a "one full truck load price", which in fact was cheaper then their one load price. Overall, not a great experience for me but not the worst. The 2 guys actually doing the work were competent and professional. But I definitely sense this company and management are GREEDY. Don't know if the whole industry is like this but if I ever needed this service again, I would try somebody else. read more

Drivers came to the house during the scheduled time window, looked at stuff we needed hauled away, told us how much it would cost, then took it away after we agreed to pay the amount. I called Junk King Raleigh to remove various "junk" from my home prior to listing my house for sale. I needed a quick appointment and they were very accommodating, coming out the next day. The technicians were on time and were careful and thorough. The "junk" to be removed was in a hot walk-up attic, so I didn't make it easy for them, but they remained pleasant and professional. I was so pleased that I booked them for the end of the week to remove my garage junk too. Second time went just as smoothly as the first time and Gilbert and his team were wonderful. This is one of the best service experiences I've had in the Triangle. My wife and I needed a couple of couches and some construction waste removed from our back yard. I made the appointment online less than 24 hours before we needed them to come out and they were prompt with the courtesy response. When the guys showed up, they were beyond polite, gave a fair estimate of the cost, and got to work quickly. What would have taken me an afternoon of hauling back and forth to the dump and back (plus loading all that crap into a truck) took them about fifteen minutes. Would absolutely not recommend working with this company. I booked an appointment online for 12-2 PM today. My husband rearranged his work schedule to be available when they arrived. They ended up showing up at 4:53 PM, with maybe half an hour of daylight left to perform the work. We wanted a pile of dirt and some pallets and scrap wood removed from the yard following a fence construction project. Based on the truck load estimator on their website I was certain their estimate would come in under $200, plus we had $30 off for booking online as it says on their website. Well, the final estimate was $285. Apparently hauling dirt is on a different pay scale. (So why not put that pay scale on their website as well to be transparent?) On top of that, they said they would not take the pallets. (But their website says they will take fencing, windows, frames and lumber so why draw the line at pallets?) We told them no thanks. Willing to bet we can find someone cheaper and more prompt who will do the work more completely on Craigslist, which is pretty sad. read more
